The staff was amazing and helpful, they get the job done quickly as long as you have everything they need i.e. insurance and prescription. The prices are reasonable with a huge selection to choose from, they don't carry the overpriced brands which is the perfect for anyone on a budget or don't want to overpay for glasses, or if you want an alternative to the Costco/Sam's club brands. So I called this office and they were so nice, willing to help and call the other office to get my paperwork in line so I could go forward and get a pair of glasses. I have been going to the Ward InSpecs for my eye exams, glasses, and contacts for about 3 years. When I moved a couple of years ago, I was glad to discover they have a location at Pearlridge Center. Dr. VanLangeveld and his staff are friendly and professional. Eye exams are quick and easy. Since InSpecs accepts my vision insurance, it's not too expensive to purchase new eyeglasses and contact lenses. The Pearlridge Center location is smaller than the Ward Village one, so the selection of eyeglasses is a bit more limited. However, since my prescription had not changed this visit, I wouldn't have purchased new glasses anyway. Overall, I am happy with the services and products here. Hands down the best eye doctor I've ever been to. I'm from Alabama and now live in HI. Dr. Mike and his staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about everything anything that you need. They are very good at sanitizing everything you try on-from the eyeglasses you touch to the eye exam equipment, etc. Dr. Mike is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions that you have and you will not feel rushed during your appointment. I haven't given any reviews on eye doctors because I thought they all were "turn and burn" type of doctors (I.e. trying to get through as many patients as possible) However, this place was a dream come true:) thank you InSpecs! The Dr. is great. As for everything else, I will probably take my business elsewhere. My experience here hasn't been great and really it felt more like a chore working with Brytnee. I went to this place because my company has them listed as a partner for insurance. I am currently still waiting on my frames to be shipped in, and have been getting excuses of why it hasn't come in yet. While trying to order my lenses after my eye exam, the woman was eating and explaining to the other lady helping me about what lenses to go with. Then her friend came by mid conversation and they starting talking away and disregarded me for about a good 5 minutes. -Count to 30 seconds while on hold in front of someone who put you on hold- it feels like forever! When following up the first time on my frames, the lady made it seem like I was at fault for not following up. Second time, I felt like I was being impatient and it was ruining their day (that's how the tone felt on the phone conversation). Leading up to today where I called the store but no answer. July 10th was my first visit. It's now August 3rd and still no more frames. I don't remember what the Doctors name was, but she was awesome. As for her team members outside that does the admin and product process, There needs to be a little more structure in how you maintain and operate your business. Learn to follow up in a timely manner, and don't wait for the customer to follow up with you instead. Be a little more kind and caring. The business your in helps people's vision! That's such a wonderful thing. Make it feel like a wonderful experience. I really do hope others have a better experience. Update: 8/19 I called into inspecs and spoke to the other lady that works here. She has more sympathy for people and is human about her business. She understood my frustration and apologized for the inconveniences and the missed promise of timely service. As I am trying to get an update, Brytnee tells her to tell me (yes i can hear you speaking to your co-worker telling her things to say, even after I asked to speak with you directly) that the frames might be in the shipment at your scholfield location but the girl that works their took vacation and is not back until the 23rd of August. Update: It's 8/23 and I was told that they have received shipment at a different location, but they lady working is on vacation and wont come back until 8/23. Apparently she's the only one allowed to open the box. Following up to today I reached out to Brytnee from the Pearlridge Inspecs. location asking for an update. She now tells me, "Hi Kevin, shipping can take up to 3-4 weeks. that would be in addition to the time allocated for the frames being back ordered I will be in touch when your frames come in or if they take longer than the time we estimated for. have a great rest of your week! LOL: no apology, just excuses Mind you that these frames were estimated for 15 day shipping due to back order from July 11th. They said it takes 15 business days. Okay understandable. It's now 43 days and now im being told to wait another 3-4 weeks because that's how long it usually takes on a back order? Now I am being mistreated as a guest and feel the right to express my concerns of this business and how they conduct business. Brytnee is rude, unprofessional, and behind closed doors does not give a damn about her guests. I will be making sure my company removes inspecs from its selected Doctors as I do no wish for anyone in my company nor my network of business partners to experience this. Thank you Brytnee for reminding me how important it is to treat every guest with world class service. Update 8/24/2021 The general manager from Ward location called me and offered a solution. My mistake for going to Pearlridge InSpecs and I have learned my lesson. Update 8/25: The Ward manager was able to get my frames in. LOL *insert golf clap here* WOW. 3 - 4 weeks was clearly a lie from Pearlridge location InSpecs. Thank you Ward InSpecs for making things right! I'll travel out of my way for Ward's type of service. Dropped my glasses and prescription off 4/3. Came back 4/20 to see if they were done because i was in the area and the sign said it would only take 10-15 working days. Found out that the receptionist charged me incorrectly and because he had taken my number down wrong i didnt get any of their calls so my glasses were only sent out 4/19. Went back on 4/28 just to check. Found out the same receptionist had charged me incorrectly for a SECOND time! And that the earliest id get my glasses is 5/10, more than a month from when i dropped them off. And all because their receptionist messed up THREE times. My vision is absolutely terrible (-7.25) and Dr V has been my optometrist since I was in middle school. Many of my family members also come to this location and have for years as well. I've seen him at the Ward location a couple times, but prefer this location since it's closer to the west side. I dread the anticipation of that one machine that blows air into your eyeballs, but I still always look forward to my annual visits knowing I'll get a new updated prescription for my eyes and a new pair of glasses and contacts. I've trialed many different contact brands through him and he always follows up to make sure I like them if it's a new one. I also visited for eye allergies/irritation and with what he prescribed, it was gone within a couple uses! His staff are the best, and are always so quick and helpful with my concerns. I've even gone a few times to just get my frames retightened while shopping around Pearlridge with no appointment, and they're always happy to do it. I highly recommend them for anyone who's looking for a new optometrist. Their prices are affordable and they accept most insurance plans. read more

Wow, ok, I deleted my previous review because my issue was resolved by someone who responded to it from InSpecs but here we are again! I call to order new contact lenses & they tell me my prescription is expired & I can't order anything until I get an exam. I've been coming here for years but my previous eye dr would at least give a NOTIFICATION that the prescription was about to expire so your client won't need to go without! Luckily I was able to get an exam for tomorrow but who knows how long it'll take for my contacts to actually come in. This will be my last time dealing with them. No structure at this store. Every time I go in, it seems like the staff is unorganized with minimum training and knowledge about how to fulfill a customers needs. Due to their lack of training and organization it can create a LONG wait time before you are finally assisted. They might take most insurances but often times they make a mistake and mischarge you resulting in you having to pay more than what they initially told you (And this charge might occur weeks after your initial payment). Doctors and Staff are friendly but they don't seem to be on the same page in most occasions. Sometimes customer service here might be good but its really a hit or a miss, emphasis on the "Miss". I wouldn't recommend anyone Wasting their Time AND Money at this location. read more

After I received a reminder card in the mail from the optometrist I had happily been using for the past three years arrived and I shuddered at the thought of having to drive out there during peak traffic hours or multiple times for contact trials, I realized that despite the fact I liked it there, it just wasn't practical. I called Inspecs on a Saturday and was able to get a late afternoon appointment for the following week which despite having to fight a bit of afternoon traffic on H1-W didn't cause me to have to use a minute of sick time. Dr. Vanlangeveld was patient and took his time to help make sure that any changes to my prescription were beneficial. He offers you up to three pairs of trial lenses so there's no pressure to buy the first pair you try if you're not seeing better, etc. I also appreciated the fact that he did not push me to dilate my eyes when I didn't have someone with me to drive home since I'd be absolutely blind as a bat and said to just come back when I had someone to safely take me home. Due to the fact that my glasses and contacts are a very high prescription, I anticipated that my glasses especially would be costly, however the staff worked with me to find a frame in my budget and with my insurance benefits, I paid less than $225 out of pocket for high index lenses with some extra stuff added to it. I also ordered my contacts through them as it was actually less through them than online and they had a manufacturers rebate available. The staff is professional and friendly and not focused at all on making the sale, but on the customer. Located just across from TJ Maxx, they take most medical insurance, and have frames within most budgets. If you need glasses or contacts, don't hesitate to give Dr. V and his staff a call! read more

I absolutely adore this place and the staff. Dr V (Vanlangeveld) has been my optometrist for years at the Ward location. So genuinely nice and a professional in his expertise. He's also very personable. A few years back I had to go to Chicago on a business trip and he gave me all of his suggestions of where to eat since he's originally from Chicago. And yes I tried majority of his recommendation and it was spot on. Only until recently did I have to switch to one of the other doctor that co shares offices with him. Due to an emergent situation, I met Dr Husher because Dr V was at the Ward location. She's a young, beautiful, vibrant, and knowledgable doctor! Her personality was very cheerful and her smile was very contagious you'd think she was a dentist. My son and I agree, they're both awesome. Dr. V is like the brother type and Dr. Husher is like a best friend. My son and I are regular customers. And by regular, I mean they already know our face and name when we show up or call. My son's condition is a little better than mine but since he plays sports, he's always needing more attention than I do. And the staff here always accommodates our busy schedule regardless of how many times I've either no showed or canceled (sigh). Sorry bout that. The assistants are just as top knotch. Michael is so helpful and accommodating as is the other assistants. Their personalities are also great. Located at Uptown of Pearlridge mall, next to Robeks, parking is the usual: busy during peak shopping hours. But the great part about being here is shopping and eating after your appointment or if you have to wait for your glasses to get done. The prices are by far cheaper than any other eyewear store ranging from $39.99 (frames only, not including lenses) up to $200. Quality for the glasses are okay but not like you need them to last a lifetime since you're suppose to change every other year any way. (Yearly for contacts) And by that time, the style and trend would have changed so you'll have no problem getting a new pair. They accept most medical insurance and they'll do the paperwork so you don't have to worry about giving your left eye as payment ;) read more

This was my first time at this location. With COVID and another shut down coming at midnight, I was in a pretty tight bind getting my frames adjusted. My friend and I walked in around 5pm-ish and the most pleasant smile was given to us by Ms. Chelsea. She was eager to help despite being previously occupied with something before we arrived (her colleague in the white coat sitting down didn't even bother looking at us, we know these times are hard for guest service). But Chelsea's attitude, quickness and competence was above expectation! We didn't even think anyone would be able to help us with such short notice but she solved our problem with no questions asked. It might have been a simple fix to some, but her great energy and kindness really stood out. This review is for Ward's InSpecs (couldn't find ward's one on yelp lol) I was recently diagnosed with farsightedness and needed to get rx glasses for the first time in my life (!!!!!!). So on a recommendation of my coworker I came here. I found out that at InSpecs, if you have a fairly low rx your lens are FREEEEEE and you only pay for the frames. Granted if you have insurance to cover you, you pay even less for the frames bc of insurance (depending on your plan). My insurance only allowed me to go to specific stores that did not include InSpecs but the other stores charged me $100 for lens!! So my total was close to $200 for frames and lens!! I was not okay w paying that much for glasses I will be using sparingly! At InSpecs I think I tried on about 20-25 glasses before I found my geek-tastic glasses!! I fell in love with my nerdy glasses and I knew I had to buy them! I was kind of nervous of the price, but when I saw the total I was quite surprised! I ended up paying $80 for my frames AND Lens (which were free, score!) ! Now why the 4 stars, InSpecs ward truly exemplified great customer service and professionalism! The store is small, but neatly kept and upon entering the store someone always greets you with a warm hello. I was allowed to browse without being bothered and when I had questions they gave me their undivided attention. Plus they also provided estimates prior to purchasing! The truly great part is, I only had to wait ONE day before getting the call that my glasses have arrived for pick up at the store! Truly truly great service! When I need a new pair of glasses I will be back! 8) The only reason I deducted a star is due to not much variety in the store and not too many different brands. But overall, I'm happy with my glasses and my experience at this store! read more

All you need is a prescription! Much cheaper than other places and cute lenses too! If you do not have full coverage for eye care, this is defnitly the place to go! I prefer the thicker plastric frames, but they have wire frames as well and have a few different types of lenses you can choose from. The basic is free with the frame and I believe the upgraded one is about $40-$60 more. All frames are unisex or try to be. I bought glasses there last year and I just recently purchased another because I well........stepped on mine. :( The first time I bought glasses ($80) I was able to wait aobut 30 minutes, which meant walking around other stores in the mall come back and pick mine up. The pair I bought recently cost about $125 and I have to wait two weeks for them to come in. I would recommend this place to anyone because its a cheaper alternative and the employees there are very nice, quiet type, but pleasant. read more

Dr. Husher....Dr. Husher....Dr. Husher.... If you were not catching on to what I was trying to convey, then let me explain. I was chanting her name, yes that is right - as if I was at the World Series! So I arrived to the location in Aiea/Pearlridge next to the best place on earth TJ MAXX. Between you and me, I have been VERY disappointed with high rated doctors, dentists, car wash places, and restaurants in Aiea. I am not sure if the businesses friends are writing the reviews or if some of these people are trying to be loyal. Either way, I was a touch concerned. The team in the front is nothing less than BAD ASS! ...and I am talking in a great way. They have a system down to deliver great care quickly on the front end, and they are friendly and informative? ...ummm really? Dr. Hiusher, is THE BEST OPTOMOTRIST I have ever been too. I know I loook not a day over 24 in my pic, but that is not thus. She knows her craft as she should, and she delivers information and care in the most knowledgeable, thoughtful, effective way! I have been wearing contacts for almost ten years now, and she told me things about contacts that I had NO IDEA about, like where the lines in my contacts were supposed to go and why! I mean...really? I love information like that, and it is better late than never to have the knowledge. I highly recommend Dr. Husher and team. ...so following my contact fitting I had really bad pain in my right eye. I was worried, since it felt like there was something scratching my eye constantly. It only seemed to get worse. The night before I went to see her, I could not sleep the pain was so bad. I decided to call, and again her team fit me in. It seems that when I was taking out the contacts I was getting fit for, I squeezed and scratched my cornea. She said she could see three scratched over the middle of my eyeball. Let's just say, I was blown away. She handed me a prescription and here I am today - back to brand new with some new eyeball skin (assuming that it has grown back.) BAD NEWS...Dr. Husher is moving away to Alaska. She is going to be working with the Native population. She is amazing, and Hawaii is at a loss for a competent, thoughtful, knowledge filled clinician. I've never had the best of luck in finding a good optometrist. I always feel that they get frustrated with my crappy vision and astigmatism. Made an appointment here at Pearl, schedule was pretty flexible, staff was super nice. Contacts ended up having to be changed a bit, but that's always expected with my eyes. Overall good experience. Dr. V and his staff were great from the moment I walked in until I left. My encounter first began at the optical store at Tripler which InSpecs just took over. They don't do eye exams so Myra was able to squeeze an appointment for me the same day at the Pearlridge location. Dr. V found out what my problem was with my eyes and I was finally relieved knowing I won't need to go anywhere else. I've had 2 other optometrists conduct my yearly eye exams and when I tried to explain the issues I was having with my eyes, turn in my RX and pick up my glasses, that's when I felt my glasses were still not helping me from the eye strain I continued to feel. I came in today after receiving a call on Friday about my trial contacts being ready for pick up. The associate on the phone let me know they open at 10:00 AM and I could come in any time during mall hours to pick them up. Dr. VangLangeveld let me know at my last appointment that an associate would teach me how to put the contacts on since it was my first time trying out contacts. When I went to pick up my contacts it was already past 10:00 AM, the store was open and an associate was inside, but the front lights were still off. I figured she still needed a few minutes to get ready for opening so I walked around a bit and came back when all of the lights were on. When I approached the desk, the associate asked what she could help me with and I told her I was there to pick up trial contacts. She asked for my name and she didn't hear me the first time and said "Name" again a little more firmly. She already seemed irritable. I repeated it and she handed me the contacts and then immediately proceeded to ask if I could come in on Friday at 10:15 for a follow up. I wanted to try to come in on a different day, but she told me Dr. VangLangeveld only came in on Fridays and Tuesdays, but I was welcome to see another doctor. Her tone and demeanor came off as irritable during the entire brief interaction I had with her so I did not even feel comfortable asking her to show me how to put them on like Dr. VangLangeveld had told me his associates would. I also was not given recommendations for contact solution, etc like I was told during my consultation last week. She might have been stressed, but that should not affect the way customers are talked to/treated. I was not being rude, difficult, demanding, or unreasonable. I will try to figure out how to put my contacts in on my own through YouTube and ask around about different places to go in the future for my eye exams. read more

Been coming here for years. Every once in a while they do something that irritates me. And every time I'm dealing with someone new. They had 2 phone numbers on file for us and only called one number. Just so happened that the number they called has been disconnected. And yes, we updated info. They always call my cell and this one time, they call a landline no longer in use. I like that they accept VSP for us state of Hawaii employees. I went to Lens Crafters and was told that I would have to pay for everything and submit paperwork to VSP on my own. So here I paid $25 for $115 frames, $120 ($195-$75/vsp) for progressive lenses, and $37 ($75-$38/vsp) for anti-reflective coating. read more

This is an awesome place to go for all of your eye needs!! I've been seeing Dr V for more than 5 years and I've always had a good experience. Dr V is super nice, caring, and really made sure I healed from an eye infection I got. The staff here is also amazingly nice and sweet, especially Emily who made sure I got everything I needed and wanted for my glasses, contacts and even sunglasses.
