My mom got the wrong glasses and the assistant said that my mom was wrong and that was what she ordered continuously. As others have said, doctors here are great - Dr Tanaka and previously Dr Lau. I had been going to Blink for years however their staff are so bad I had to find a new optometrist. Strike 1 I made an appointment for a check up and when I showed up a for it, they said the doctor wasn't working that day. WHAT? Then why did they let me make an appointment? Or why didn't anyone call me to cancel? I thought I was losing my mind or that I misunderstood when I called originally so I rescheduled for the following week. Strike 2 I tried calling the office multiple times 1-2 hours before my new appointment to confirm "I" had it right this time. No answer, no one returned my message. I go to the office for my appointment and the door is locked. There's a sign posted at the door that says sorry we had to close today. Unreal. No one has ever called to let me know or to apologize and reschedule. Now I know it's not me, it's them. Even though I had always been polite and professional with them, I started to think they didn't want me as a customer and I blamed myself (like a toxic one sided relationship haha). This is absolutely the worst place you could ever spend your time, money, and energy at. From the front desk people that can't differentiate if they're at home or in an office, to the Office Manager not having the capability of understanding the frustration of their own mistakes that their patients have to go through. Dr. Tanaka should be ashamed of the kind of staff he has. Nothing but unprofessional ghetto rats. I ordered contacts through the front desk and the lady did not verify that each box were two different prescriptions. Yet, I have to pay $10 for shipping for the correct box out of my own pocket for their mistake. I came on a Saturday afternoon to pick up the contacts and the office was closed with no sign or reason of why the office was closed. I received a statement indicating that I was not covered at the time of services when the front desk checked themselves, yes I was covered. Called for over a week, no response, no callbacks, had to take me calling three times in one hour for someone to pick up. Told them I spoke with the insurance company and i was indeed covered and indicated that the office may have just submitted to the wrong plan. Then decided to tell me I'm responsible for whatever the plan doesn't cover. Uh, no I am not. What kind of place didn't know how to bill correctly?! The manager hanging up on me did not have the capability of understanding what I just said and insisted that I was not covered at the time. Instead of having some professional courtesy of KINDLY saying you'll look into and accusing me of yelling at you, it's your ass that chose to work in this field. Can't say enough about Dr. Tanaka and his wonderful staff. My insurance does not extend to Blink so I may out of pocket when I visit but this business is worth it. I've lived in D.C., CA, VA, and overseas through the years resulting in a lot of various experiences with optometrists. Hands down, Dr. Tanaka is the best. He takes an enormous amount of time to exam you, get your history, and explain your current diagnosis and potential options for the future. I will not go tout anyone else while in HI. As for his staff, I ordered glasses and then due to work forgot about them. When I called roughly 2 months later, the staff was very apologetic as the order had apparently slipped thru the cracks. They rushed the order and when I picked them up, the glasses were perfect. All business make mistakes -it's how they deal with it afterwards that causes some to shine and some to just flat out fail. On my latest visit for an eye exam I was informed by the female receptionist that Dr. Khan Lau has moved to New York. I was disappointed at first since my favorite doctor moved away. That disappointment changed when I met with Dr. Alan Tanaka. Dr. Tanaka is a very friendly fellow with a great sense of humor. He even discussed the conditions of my eyes...making sure there's no glaucoma. He says my eyes are in good health...not going blind anytime soon. I have been given a prescription in case I want to invest in eye glasses. I have also purchased disposable contacts. Contacts to use on my 8hr work shifts and for going out. I need to head back to the shop and get a new pair of glasses for the days I pull a 10hr or 11hr work shift. Dr. Tanaka informed me that he will change the name of this eye wear location. Dr. Tanaka is absolutely wonderful!! I have had a really hard time finding an optometrist that takes my eye insurance (EyeMed) and Blink does! The front desk staff is very friendly and professional. I've had the same eye doctor for 10 years and so when I switched to Blink after I moved to Hawaii, I had a lot of questions and they were able and willing to answer everything for me. Wow! I don't go to the dr. much and usually it not a visit I look forward to. I haven't seen an eye dr. in over 5 years, I needed to see one for a job certification. The staff was friendly as soon as I walked in. They offered me coffee from the kurig and cake that a rep just brought in, it was delicious! The eye exam was painless and I felt they did a very thorough job. They have a machine to view the back of the eye and no dilation is required so that was a plus. Dr. Alan was the friendliest dr. and he was very knowledgeable. It's weird but I actually had a good time at the office and left smiling. Military beware. Insurance coverage sh*t show. 1st I called to ask if they are in the tricare network. They said yes so I made 3 appointments for the same day. During the apt, we were told that they don't dilate the eyes and instead do a procedure that isn't covered by tricare but that it was required by law during an eye exam. (Something we weren't told ahead of time but now couldn't refuse because we were already in the appointments) So we were billed almost $90 for our 3 exams. Our daughter's glasses took longer to come in then they said. We then received a bill for $180+ per exam because they said we have a deductible. To which I called the Dr office to explain that we have Tricare Prime and are not or ever have been required to pay a deductible. They argued with me about how some tricare patients do and I have until the 15th. I called Tricare and they informed me that this Dr office did not complete their credentials paperwork to remain in the network, but if they did it could be backdated. I call the Dr office again to be told that tricare isn't correct and they have been paid from them before and after our exams. (This turned out not to be true) They threatened to throw the bill in collections because it was now the 18th. 3 more calls the them and tricare later resulted in me going to their office and calling tricare from their desk while she did the same, basically making a scene in front of other customers for some reason they didn't want to have these calls in a back room. Turns out, the day I asked if they were in the network, they had expired from it the previous week and still expecting me to pay these "deductibles" or do her the favour of going to my primary care dr and asking her to backdate a referral for the eye exams. Really?! I've wasted how many days on this because your paperwork isn't in and now you need me to jump through more hoops so you guys still get paid?! Why should I? And how many more Tricare patients have you seen since July 5th? Are you expecting all of them to do the same? Because guess what?! You are still not in the network and up until I came down there (during my move out process) today, you were telling me and who know who else, that you are in the tricare network. Au and Lau great great doctors very thorough with eye exam very patient and they both care a great deal very straight forward if you are able to have an 1 on 1 conversation you will see that they are not there just to whoosh you out the way being that they are no longer affiliated with len crafters ii think that that i would go there more often i actually tried to but people at the front desk couldn't help me but thats okay. all i know is that they are totally worth the money ....... and another there is a lot of parking and other great places around or near bye if you are waiting or need to kill time , hope it helps aloha read more

Dr Tanaka is so cool, but the heavier set lady at the front is the most obscene, rude, disrespectful, and frankly the nastiest woman I have ever met in my life, and I've met some awful people. I don't know exactly what is wrong with her but every time I show up for an appointment or call to speak to someone she hangs up on me or glares at me...
