This review is long overdue. So I got tired of babying my prescription sunglasses when I go shoreline fishing. The polycarbonate lens can scratch so easily from the salt spray. So I finally gave in and looked for prescription lens made of glass. I decided on Costa and Keith was one of the Costa authorized dealers in Honolulu. I stopped by and he was so pleasant to work with. He made the purchase so easy and kept me updated on the progress of my sunglasses. Prescription Costa sunglasses are expensive, but we'll worth the cost. I couldn't be happier with them. I accidentally fell asleep with my glasses on...when I woke up they were broken. The hinge popped out of the frame which was weird because they were brand new (2 weeks old) and I fell asleep in glasses plenty of times...usually just results in a bent hinge. I thought I was screwed because Ray Ban was only offering a replacement if I paid for it. I found Keith's place through google and thought I'd stop in to see if I can at least get the frames temporarily fixed. He fixed them rather easily and let me know that the frames were actually defective and that I should try to get a free replacement from Ray Ban. He was extremely helpful and genuinely interested in helping me. He explained every thing to me and was very adamant that I don't just let Ray Ban take my money for a defective product -- I felt the same way and I appreciated the honestly. I've worn glasses since the 3rd grade and I've never had glasses break in this way so I was convinced it was a defect when it happened, but wasn't sure. I'm pretty convinced now that it wasn't really just my fault like I originally thought. He even went as far as telling me I should dispute it with my credit card company if Ray Ban doesn't budge with the refund/free replacement...lol which I probably do if it comes to that. Another thing...the frames I had repaired were actually a replacement frame that I bought directly from Ray Ban. I had my old frames with me and upon inspection...Keith noticed I ordered the wrong replacement frames. The ones I ordered weren't Asian fitted. I couldn't believe I ordered the wrong ones but Keith offered to order the correct ones for me if I receive a refund from Ray Ban. I truly love my rimless invisible progressive lenses (reading-computer-distance) glasses. Keith took the added step of making a mock pair of lenses to double check the size and mutually we sized down the width more to fit my narrow shaped face. And I really am glad I have the blue light blocker--my eyes don't hurt when I work long hours on the computer. I never got the progressive lenses before because a colleague of mine said it took her a couple weeks to get used to--my goodness I had no transition time whatsoever. Came in with a misaligned arm on my glasses which has been bothering me for awhile (the glasses would sit crooked on my face) and let me just say, Keith was incredibly helpful and very prompt with the repair. Not only was he very quick (literally less than 10 minutes), but he repaired my glasses and got them cleaned for free as well! You can tell how passionate he is about his work and that's something you definitely don't get often. I also called the office prior to showing up and Keith was kind enough to explain the directions to the office so that we wouldn't get lost. Parking was very easy to find. There is metered street parking, or you can opt to park at pacificana apartments which is in the same building as the office. Parking was free for 15 minutes--I'm not sure how much it would have been for longer as we were in there for less than that. When you get there, don't be fooled by the small office, they have a wide variety of glasses that you could choose from! As someone from the west side, this was my first time going to an optician in town and I am so glad I found this place. I purchased a new pair of frames and lenses from Mr. Yamamoto last fall. The frames were the most expensive I've ever purchased but I liked the look and knew I'd have them for quite some time. When the new ones first arrived the lenses were not correct, but Keith found the problem, ordered new ones and they were excellent. Then, yesterday, one of the temple bars fell off while I was struggling with my Covid mask. I took them in this morning. New frames will have to be ordered - BUT - he was able to do a temporary fix so I'll have my glasses until the new frames arrive. We were lost. So we called and Keith kindly gave us directions to go under the apartment looking complex, go to the lobby, and go up to the 6th floor. I ended up breaking my glasses in the middle of the night and we tried going to several eyeglass shops but they all told us nothing could be done. My daughter needed contacts, but her eye doctor was booked til September. We got a prescription and went to Keith for contact fitting. Most optometrist's charge out of pocket for this, but Keith doesn't. He was so awesome the way he helped my daughter to learn how to put the contacts in. His patience and kind demeanor made the process so easy. He explained to my daughter about the type of lenses and gave her a very informative talk about the care for her contacts. After the fitting he gave us trial contacts for a week til we make sure they fit correctly. I was about to pay and he said this was all free. We would only have to pay for the contacts when he ordered them. Wow, talk about customer service!!! This is my second review and I'll probably keep adding to this review every time I visit A.
