Unfortunately, he completely missed a critical structural defect: a load-bearing wall on the first floor had been removed without permits or proper reinforcement. We discovered this issue only after moving in and starting minor renovations. When our contractor removed flooring in the second-floor bedroom (located directly above the compromised area), they found the floor sagging into the room below. There was a significant gap between the subfloor and the wall studs -- someone had attempted to cover up the problem by stacking pieces of plywood to fill the void where proper structural support was missing. This is not a small oversight -- it's a major structural failure that should have been caught during the inspection. Because of this negligence, we are now facing costly repairs and a serious safety concern.

We set a start date of early January 2023 and John began his work. We found John and his colleague to be extremely professional, prompt and thoughtful in their work. What's more - John asked questions and verified details with us as he went. There was no assuming what we might want, and he offered helpful ideas and recommendations. Working in a fairly tight space, John and his colleague were respectful of the fact that I work from home and, although construction noise is unavoidable when tearing down walls and what have you, they were not intrusive or blasting loud music as they worked. I sincerely appreciated their professional manner and dress because my mother lives with us and I am keenly aware of how strangers in the house might make her feel uncomfortable.
