In…read moreaddition to the repair cost, they charged $700 for it being a 3 story home and another $600 for the pitch angle. At the time when the repair was being done, the speed at which they were working was a little concerning. This was due to the fact that I was sold on replacing all vents on the roof as well but witness the technicians leave without doing so. They came back soon after me contacting the project manager that I only only saw them go up with a bundle of shingles before and proceeded to complete the vent replacements. Once they completed the repairs, I contacted the project manager again and asked for drone footage of the repairs so I could compare them to the initial inspection photos. He then got offensive stating that his technicians were risking their lives in order to repair my roof and kept saying they stand by their workmanship and provide a 1 year warranty. I started to suspect the project manager did not fully explain to the technicians on what to repair and only repaired the obvious damage and not the improperly installed shingles the project manager sold me on to repair. Fast forward to today (April 2025), sections of my roof have shingles blowing off again which are photographed in the initial inspection last year. I contacted 1st choice to start a warranty claim and was soon told they can warranty shingles they replaced but the ones that were missed a few feet away is considered new damage and had to be treated at such. I told them ok, please get me an estimate on the repair and we can proceed with the warrantied areas. After receiving the estimate, they again charged the 3 story fee and pitch angle fee even though they will be going up to repair the warrantied areas anyways because it is "to be treated as new damage" while also stating on the estimate that they no longer can warranty any repairs because of the build material. I would not have found out my roof was damaged if I didn't switch insurance company and they send an inspector out to look at my roof. Missed agreed upon repairs and damaged repairs they are hesitant to fix. If they are currently working on your home, make sure you have footage of the completed agreed repairs after. If you're considering, make sure you have everything documented to cover yourself cause they are for sure covering themselves.

The person assembled it; however, was unable to make it work. We spoke with the vendor and discovered that the correct steps were not followed. We hired a couple of additional handymen and they failed to make it operational. Then, I found Jason on yelp. I explained the situation and he immediately identified the issue. He stopped by my house the following work day. In a matter of minutes, he resolved the issue that three handymen prior could not solve. He sent out one of his guys who climbed all over our roof and gave us a very reasonable quote for a few hundred dollars. The company that had come out the day before (large billboard on 105) had quoted us $5,000-7,000(!) to basically rebuild our roof. So we hired Saxon, his guy came out the next day, did everything and then went on to paint all the vent stacks and fireplace flashing. Since then our leak is completely gone and the roof looks better than it ever did. We will hire these guys for anything roof related from now on.
