They have everything you could want in a coffee shop -- nice staff, a calm and relaxing vibe, and good quality coffee and drinks. Their draft iced matcha latte cannot be beat. Indoor seating can be hard to come by during busy hours, but it's the perfect place to swing by and grab a drink before walking around downtown. Worth the visit! read more

Easily one of the best matcha lattes I've ever had. My friend had me get the nitro matcha latte and it was delicious. The perfect amount of creamy and sweetness, haven't had anything like it. It was really expensive, but worth the price if you want to splurge for a killer drink. The coffee shop was also very cute. read more

We visited this coffee shop from Dallas and were super pleased. The iced oat latte from the tap is one of the best lattes I've had. The nitro cold brew had strong notes of fruit which we liked because it was unique. A must go to coffee place if you want different tastes. read more

After seeing the coffee in various grocery stores in Austin, we finally got a chance to visit the brick and mortar cafe in downtown. Location is definitely more convenient for those working or living downtown or if you happen to be walking around this nicer part of downtown. Otherwise, you have to find street parking. We got the Angeleno, definitely a more watered down drink than a sweet drink, but still enjoyed it. High ceiling, not too many outlets though, but seems like a quiet enough place to get some reading done. read more

Weirdly enough this is the only place really close to the Austin Central Public Library that serves coffee in the afternoon! Couldn't find anywhere else, but I'm super glad I stumbled in here. The guy behind the counter was extremely friendly and welcoming. They also sell super cute merch! Unfortunately I visited when they were only serving cold drinks due to the water infection, but luckily they have plenty of drinks on tap. I was thinking about a matcha latte (on tap!) or simple cold brew, but the guy convinced me to try a little bit of this drink they had that's a mix of cold brew and carbonated grapefruit juice. It totally sounds gross but surprisingly it worked?? It was super tasty, and I ended getting a regular drink size of it. Love that I was able to try something new! read more

Excellent coffee, lovely staff, very uncomfortable chairs! Haha. Great place to sit and sip and have a quick chat maybe. If you do decide to sit down and work though like i did, your back may hurt a bit and it can be a little noisy with the high ceiling and small space echo! The pastries were great too! I'd go again for sure ! read more

Wow, what a huge disappointment. I had been following Intelligentsia's Austin debut for months and finally got to try them today. My usual first order at a new coffee shop is their batch brew. It's cheap and it gives me an idea if the shop can keep their batch brew hot all day. While they did have batch brew here, it was $4.50. What the hell? That is literally the most expensive batch brew I've ever seen. In chatting with the staff, they told me the beans they use change daily so the price is never set. I guess I caught an expensive day, but from what I understand, the "cheap" day is still $3.50. That's still on the high end. I decided to get an Americano instead, which was around $3.50 and typically gives me more of a flavor punch than batch brew. Uh uh, not so here. I got my Americano and it was so bland. At first it tasted burned so I added stevia to it, but then it just kinda faded in flavor. For such a high end coffee chain to deliver such a bad product is really shocking. Blue Bottle charges crazy prices but at least you finish your coffee and go wow, that was worth it. Did I catch Intelligentsia on a bad day? I dunno, but I doubt I'll find out again. Their prices are simply too high when there's plenty of good local roasters in town for $3 or less for a batch brew. Whoever's choosing the beans and setting the prices here needs to wake up and see that it's driving customers like me away. read more

Intelligentsia at 3rd street and Shoal does a great job. During COVID, they have shut their doors and take contactless orders through one door and then deliver prepared beverages through another door while you socially-distance wait on small circular stools in the front of the shop. Blake and the staff are polite, friendly, and familiar. They take pandemic safety and health precautions seriously. Please visit our neighborhood cafes and shops to help keep them in business and their employees employed. read more

Look, I like my $6 cup of tea just as much as the next fella, but the atmosphere usually somewhat justifies the price. Third+Shoal's new coffeehouse comes in the form of a Chicago based roasting company that promises to deliver the same Midwestern work ethic to all of their locations, this being their first in Texas. Cozy yet modern, this little shop will surely become a morning ritual staple for one of the many "Facebookers" residing in the building. Their menu may be simple but their espresso is bold and smooth. I had an iced latte sweetened with simple syrup that I would describe as heavenly. The croissant was flakey and buttery and divine. I'm looking forward to making this a part of my Friday routine and hope to see more seasonal specialty drinks from the counter, as well as perhaps a wider variety of warm/savory bites. Intelligentsia is one of my favorite coffee shops. I normally by their beans for espresso at home as well. This is why I'm giving it two stars... Stopped in to get a nitro cold brew and literally half of the cup was all foam. Waited a bit for the foam to rise, maybe went up half a cm. I hope this is not their new standard for nitros. They're nitro is delicious but not worth fighting DT parking and $5 for a half cup. read more

My latte was good. I wasn't overwhelmed by anything here. The interior was minimalist and full of natural light. Large space and good offerings but nothing out of the ordinary for me. There's lots of coffee shops these days and I appreciate a little bit more flare to be impressed. read more

Great location next to shoal creek! I like the lay out of the coffee shop, very open feels like we are in Seattle, except we got iced coffee drinks due to the Texas heat. The hubby enjoyed his iced latte, my mocha was very rich but tasted fine. Look forward to trying the place again in colder months to try their hot drinks. read more

Matcha latte is the best, ever. Cold or hot, it's so delicious. Their regular drip coffee is better than any of the other nearby options. The most delicious rilletes anywhere in Austin. OMG, so good! I could eat one every day for the rest of my life. read more

Fantastic coffee & friendly environment. I had the Espresso and Macchiato. The espresso was very pleasant with a thin body and well balanced earthy and fruity flavor, with just the right amount of bitterness, none from over brewing. The Macchiato has just the right amount of cream making up for the bitterness, but still allowing for the taste of the coffee to come through. They also provided sparkling water which was a pleasant surprise! Would recommend going out of your way to try their coffee! read more

Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

My friend has joined me on multiple occasions and I can say we have tried quite a lot from here and have never been let down. While it can get super busy on the weekends and the ambiance can be a lil overstimulating ~ I'm happy to come during the week days when it's a slower and I can pull up a chair at the bar for easy, laid back dining! They also have a designated window for to go order, quick orders or call in orders. This has become my go to! Every staff member is always efficient, kind and professional. I think the service from the staff sticks out the most and the food right after - and on a consistent basis that's just hard to find these days. Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint. Honestly, it's the kind of meal I could see myself ordering every week. My partner went with the Lost Recipe, which looked just as delicious. You can never really go wrong with fried chicken, and this version certainly didn't disappoint. The service was equally impressive. Our server was friendly, attentive and checked in regularly throughout the meal. She even brought us a complimentary crab pastry to try, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. One thing to note this place gets busy, especially during lunch so plan accordingly. That said, the food and service are well worth it and the menu is reasonably priced. Kiin Di has successfully made the jump from food truck to full-service restaurant and it's definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation.
