Very convenient location, connected with the Aloft hotel and Caroline restaurant which we will review another day. Scenery is nice, people are nice and coffee even nicer! I ordered the Mexican Iced Coffee in which was really good! Comfortable seats on both sides of the area, the tacos weren't the best and are very pricey, but that's Austin. read more

Good coffee spot located inside the 1st floor of the Aloft & Element hotel. There is a good menu of coffee, matcha, chai options. There is also a menu of fresh juice and large variety of baked goods (included 3 options for Gluten free!). I ordered the juice, which I was not a fan of because it had so much ice. They were also out of the Green juice which I initially wanted and ended up settling for the LOCA (which was carrot juice based). If there was no ice, I would've liked this juice more, however the ice in this juice really threw me off. I also ordered a gluten free scone. It was ok, however was very sweet. Additionally, there are pre-made breakfast tacos in the morning. No other cooked food options are available. Also no yogurt. This place has what my coffee-snob girlfriend called "The best black coffee in Texas." The beans are grown in some fancy country and are roasted in an even fancier roast-house. The barista dude behind the counter couldn't have been nicer either, he even ushered a loitering tour group out of the dining room space so we'd have more room to enjoy the cafe. Their pastries were also amazing! Generous sizes that my girlfriend continued to munch on throughout the day. We loved the decor too. read more

I'm a HUGE coffee person. Very rarely do I get anything fancy so it's pretty hard to mess up black coffee with a splash of almond milk. The inside here is super cute, the coffeehouse is adorable with the case of pastries and all their flavored coffees. I got just a large iced coffee with almond milk and no ice. It was additionally money for no ice, and they still put ice in it. The flavor of the coffee itself was so watered down (at first sip that I was handed it) and it had an overpowering nutty flavor. The Detox Juice was fantastic! Very refreshing. The woman working the counter also wasn't super friendly. I'd definitely give it another try and would get a pastry and flavored coffee, but what I got wasn't good. read more

Stayed at Aloft and was worried the coffee here wouldn't hit the spot. I've gotten really picky with coffee over the years. The reviews looked good so I gave it a shot and ordered a lavender latte and it was absolutely incredible! Didn't order any food bht the pastries look delicious as well and there are some solid GF options. read more

I was staying at the hotel above this coffee shop when I was in town and quickly realized that the bar and ground floor cafe were The spots to be. There was always a line in the morning at the cafe but it went by pretty quickly, and their seasonal baked goods and coffees were tasty. I got the s'mores-y latte and pumpkin muffin one morning, and a regular coffee with their freshly made grab and go breakfast tacos the next. Even if you're not staying at that hotel, I'd recommend stopping here for a quick breakfast. read more

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, yet I'm not a fan of The Coffeehouse at Caroline. I ordered a Mexican inspired nitro brew drink. While my hubby drank it, it tastes like I was drink straight alcohol. After forcing myself to give it a go, I just couldn't do it. I returned to the counter, spoke to the barista and learned that this "alcohol" taste is a common problem with all their nitro brew. They replaced my drink with a non-nitro variety, yet the damage to the taste buds was done, and I couldn't fully enjoy the replacement drink. read more

A bakery / coffeeshop that is hidden to all about the hotel guests. Thanks to Yelp, I was able to find out about it. Some really high quality pastries that aren't outrageously priced. Pecan Bar: Very intense with the caramel layer dominating. A generous amount of pecans mixed into that caramel. A nice shortbread-like buttery crust on the bottom. A very thin crispy delicious layer on top. A great afternoon snack. Chai Tea Cake: A surprise hit. Looks kinda like a regular old bundt cake, but the real treat awaits for you to dig in. The bottom is soaked, like rum cake, but with a subtle fragrant tea. Loved how moist it was. Chocolate Chip Cookie: More on the crispy side, but there are a few chewy portions. What I really liked were the huge chocolate chips. So much chocolate goodness. Blueberry Danish: This was the only treat that didn't impress me. Kinda tasted like a grocery store danish. Found this hidden gem in downtown Austin during our vacation! The Mexican Iced Coffee is perfect, perfectly sweetened and light (not heavy like mainstream coffee) and the iced green tea latte was exceptional. As for food items, we tried the cheddar scone, pecan bar, and the blueberry muffin. All were so moist and tasty. I absolutley hate dry pastries and these were fresh. And just to be more specific: - The cheddar scone is so damn good, its almost like a cheddar biscuit straight from the oven. -The blueberry muffin is a 10 out of 10, fresh af. So moist with a ton of blueberries inside. Like we are just wowed by how good the muffin was. -The pecan bar - I'm obsessed with this. It's soft, pretty sweet and with whole pecans. So freakin good. It's not unnecessarily sweet either, its just right!! Lastly, the baristas are so nice and welcoming and the ambience was chill and trendy. Perfect place to just have a coffee and write a Yelp review or have a Zoom meeting for work haha. We will definitely come back before we leave Austin and head to our next destination. read more

This is just as good as any other coffeehouse, with the usual offerings of flavored coffee drinks and the same pastries as the green lady and everywhere else. And it would have gotten a higher review had the barista not taken whatever his problems were out on us. Poor service can ruin what is otherwise just another mediocre, overpriced coffee shop. read more

We were meeting with some friends to chat over coffee. We got a table outside and the waiter rudely interrupted us to move us inside because we were too big of a group (5) for "safety reasons", they setup a dinner table for us and then we tried to resume the conversation. Now a waitress comes to take the order and we told her we were just meeting to chat and she got very upset, went to the manager and the manager came to say that we could not just have coffee that we needed to order food or move out. My first time and last one there. I wonder what the "Coffeehouses" are now for, in downtown Austin. read more

If I could give them 100 I would. Carol and Austin are awesome you can get the best service if you want to go over here and get coffee chai latte breakfast burritos and good service awesome service. I highly recommend this place we stayed across the street at the Stephen F Austin Hotel and they didn't have breakfast or the coffee so we went across the street every day and Carol and Austin are amazing they both deserve raises. Even if you're a few blocks away look them up go and say hello they will treat you like royalty. I can't say enough good things about them or this restaurant coffee shop. I just love them it's a sprinkle of sunshine on a rainy day. You must go it's a must. read more

We got the honey brown sugar latte and a matcha latte and they're both not the best. I think it's pretty good coffee but definitely not the best flavor. The staff are polite and great baristas. The seating is great to get work done for extended periods of time, the menu is varied but not bloated. There's also some good cocktails if you come later in the day. It's also a great place to kill time before lunch because you can just walk to the restaurant in the same room. read more

All of their matcha drinks are made-to-order which is another good sign. There was plenty of seating inside for groups up to 4, and a lot of people were studying/hanging out when I went. It was a little noisy given how crowded it was, so headphones are a must if you're looking for some quiet. Parking was not bad either since we parked in the garage close by, but it was limited to 30-mins max on the 1st floor, so I'm not sure where people who stay longer park.

Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint.
