Figure 8 has a cool, relaxed, cozy vibe to it. A true neighborhood coffee shop in the best way. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes with a delicious cortado and a bag of beans in hand. I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to espresso and Figure 8 makes some of the best I've had in Austin. I prefer their beans for my machine at home as well. read more

Loved my cafe latte and a mushroom cheese croissant. Reasonable pricing but not a '$' place right? The latte was ~$6 and croissant was ~$5 so it's close to '$$' cafe. Kudos to ambiance , felt cozy vibes with plants and coffee beans all over the place with a nice outdoor seating area with plants and string lights! Free WiFi and ideal for travel nomads?! 3 star rating because the waitresses/cashiers were so distracted and they kept talking while not getting my coffee ready?! They don't callout the order so it was hard to take them and of course couldn't ask since they were busy talking. While billing my order, I was literally pointing my croissant for a good 2 mins and they didn't take my order. read more

One of two locations with very cool coffee, merch, and NATTY WINE (if you're into that sort of thing - they're curating it here), also available for wholesaling and subscriptions. In short, it is VERY COOL, but the menu stays simple. I had a cappuccino (1 of 2 freshly ground single-origin roasts, possibly Guatemalan) - whole milk post-work-out, patio because the weather's fine. Indoor is cozy, casual conversation and vibes, outdoor is what I imagine my backyard to look like (someday...). Smiles all around!!! read more

They were super friendly and there was both indoor and outdoor covered seating. Would love to have something like this in my neighborhood. read more

This was my first time and it was close to walk to from Arrive Hotel. They don't have non-fat milk and their whole milk couldn't foam like my husband wanted for his macchiato. Otherwise, their coffee is delicious, the staff is friendly, and I liked the vibe. I hit the latte and it was good. read more

I have been meaning to check out Figure 8 for years but for some reason never made it there until today! My friend and I met there to WFH a little over coffee. I found easy street parking nearby and walked over. I was initially worried about parking, because it didn't look like the cafe had a dedicated lot, but it wasn't difficult at all to find a free spot. The space is on the smaller side inside, with some bar seating and maybe 6-8 2-top tables. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but we wanted indoor seating due to the heat. The coffee was delicious, and I saw that they had Sour Duck pastries, too! The aesthetic of the place is super cute, as well. Tons of real, heathy plants everywhere, and they are also roasting on-site, so it smells good! You can buy bags of their coffee at the counter, I believe. The downside here is I didn't see any outlets, so you have to come prepared with either an external power bank or just fully charged devices. Also, the baristas didn't call out a name or the drink (ex. Latte at the bar!) so I didn't know my order was ready and had to keep checking back and forth until finally it was there. Came on a Friday afternoon for the first time. There was some free street parking around the store. If in a large group you will likely need to sit outside, there is limited seating inside (both high top / bar style dining) and 2 seater tables which you do have to shimmy a bit into if others are sitting around you. I ordered an iced latte. It was good, I can't say it was likely worth me going out the way. The other location is closer to my job and offer a bit more variety regarding seating indoors (because Texas heat is a savage). read more

Ordered: Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte (~$8) Aya's take: Long story short, Figure 8 knows coffee and knows it well. The coffee beans they used were excellent and quite bold & delicious. Sadly, I think the barista used vanilla instead of the lavender that I had requested. Either that or their lavender syrup is super weak. My Iced Latte was creamy, smooth, and gave me the caffeine kick I needed, but I was really looking forward to their seasonal lavender. Cool spot! read more

As I continue my search for the best latte and coffee shop in Austin, my research led me to Figure 8. Located in East Austin, Figure 8 is a calm and small coffee shop in a beautiful residential area. I am always a fan of a good neighborhood coffee shop, so I knew Figure 8 had potential. It's endearing how small the space is. So many coffee shops can live these larger than life personas meanwhile places like Figure 8 can be satisfied with a bar and 7 2-person tables. Sticking with my standard, I got a Lavender Oatmilk Latte. Served in such a pretty mint green mug, the coffee radiates this sort of positivity. From the latte art to the milk consistency on the top, it looks genuine. You would hope that all lattes feel this way, but just in the first glance, you feel like this is an honest latte. The key here with the drink is subtlety. The espresso is flavorful but not with some major punch which in return means the lavender doesn't need to overpower itself like mint in toothpaste trying to hide the fluoride. Bluntly, it didn't wow me, but it felt like a nice hug when you really needed one. A solid latte in a tranquil establishment. read more

Solid neighborhood coffee shop with quality drinks and beans. This spot is a great find for coffee lovers. The customer service is friendly and welcoming. The drinks are well-crafted--my vanilla latte was smooth and perfectly balanced, and their red eye really stood out. Seating inside can be a bit limited, but they have several outdoor tables which helps. What makes this place even more special is their commitment to quality beans: they're personally sourced from various countries and roasted right on-site. As you can now tell by my reviews, I am a self proclaimed coffee connoisseur. But with that, means that I am extra critical of espresso flavor. I believe that the espresso quality at figure 8 is one of the best in the city. The espresso is smooth, perfectly extracted, not sour or bitter, and perfectly demonstrates the notes that it intended to have. The cappuccino had the perfect espresso to milk ratio. My iced lavender latte had a perfect amount of lavender syrup that blended well with the espresso to make a delightful and bright latte. The lines can get long because the storefront is small, especially on a weekend morning. Wait it out tho-- I promise it's worth! I don't get to visit Austin that much anymore, so because of this, I am very selective of which coffee shops I visit every time I go back. Figure 8 has now joined this elite list of mine, and I am so excited to return. read more

Figure 8 is a solid local spot for coffee! I have been here twice and always feel welcomed by the friendly baristas. There is a good amount of seating inside and outside and also free wifi for getting remote work done. They do fill up quickly however and are tightly packed. I also appreciate the free street parking nearby. The iced lattes are not too sweet and well balanced. read more

They were open on Thanksgiving day and we stopped by for a coffee break. Tried the seasonal pecan pie latte and chai latte. Both were great! They make their chai in house and it was one of the best in house ones I've tried - very well balanced. The outdoor seating areas are cute. Very limited seating space inside. read more

Hellooooo! It's coffee time, and I wanted to really dive into the culture here in Austin. The shop itself is how I remembered the initial 3rd wave coffee shops looking in places like LA and OC. Cute small vibes that feel like the working man's specialty coffee. Love it. Roasting setup in the back, and super lovely baristas. We got our coffees really fast, and the mugs were lovely too. Classic latte and cappuccino drinkware, and it was fantastic. We sat outside, and sipped away at our drinks, and I was happy. I got a flat white, as per classic. I think it came with their Guatemalan espresso, which I thought tasted pretty neutral. It was sweet (without sweetener), but bold. We all enjoyed what we got, and I even picked up some beans for home. I love a co-ferment, and I bought the pineapple one they had for me. Lovely! read more

Ok, here we go! I live about a ten-fifteen minute walk from Figure 8 (quicker on the way back after ingesting their wonderous drinks packed with caffeine). My most favorite drink on the planet is a lavender latte either hot or iced and of course with oat milk. I cannot express in words how good it is. There is maybe one other local place who gets that ratio of lavender to the level flavor burst. Seriously, if I am ordering a flavored drink, I better be able to taste it. Why can't more places understand this? When my sister was in town she bought some coffee beans from El Salvador to take home with her and she still raves about what a perfect cup of coffee they make. She also is totally hinting for me to ship more to her. I see what she's doing. Here is something else that makes me happy, the baristas (artists indeed) are really cool people. There is nothing I hate more than being treated by a barista like the couldn't be bothered. Like, why so snobby? Come on, peeps. Anyway, you will never get a crappy attitude from the folks at Figure 8. They rock as hard as their coffee. read more

Was in the neighborhood and decided to check this place out after so long having it on my list. Such a lovely coffee shop experience with a nice outdoor seating and warm/rustic interior. They also sell coffee beans & wines + a few pastries options. They only have 5-6 small tables inside and can get busy, so take note of that. I had a latte and it was tasty - one of the better lattes I have had in Austin. Coffee does not taste burnt or watery. Service was swift and the barista was sweet, I also bought beans to go. Highly recommend checking this place out on a nice day and just sit outside :) read more

The seating area is quite small, a row of tables and some bar seating. There's an outdoor area as well - limited shade so be aware if you're here on a hot day. Street parking was pretty simple. They also sell whole beans! Overall a great spot to chill if you need to get some work done. read more

Figure 8 Coffee Roasters was one of the few places open on a super cold day in Austin, and I'm so glad I stopped by. I found free street parking nearby, which made it even better. The cafe was warm, toasty, and very welcoming on such a cold day. I ordered a latte and absolutely loved it. It was perfect. There were some open seats and tables, though not a lot, but I didn't have any trouble finding a spot to sit and chill for a while. Their free WiFi was also pretty fast, which was a nice bonus. If you're looking for a cozy cafe with great coffee and a relaxing vibe, Figure 8 Coffee Roasters is definitely worth a visit. read more

Figure 8 was by far the best roaster we tried during our trip to Austin. We visited 5 different coffee roasters and theirs stood out for not only the quality of drinks they're handing out, but the service, and beans. I ordered a cortado while the hubby ordered his usual iced vanilla latte with almond milk. My cortado was very smooth, had a nice small head on it, and didn't have any bitterness to it. It was perfect. My husband's latte was super nutty and the syrup was light, not overly sweet and delicious. We bought a bag of beans to take home, which we have yet to grind and brew but the different flavor profiles they sell are nice. I picked the Agua Bendita which has notes of citrus, nuts, and chocolate so I can't wait to crack it open. read more

Definitely a place for real coffee. If you're looking for the fru fru, super sweetened options then this ain't it. The menu is pretty concise. It would be better for them to have the add the add ons posted somewhere, instead of relying on the barista to cite them off the top of their head. Our drinks were just okay. Nothing to boast about. The place had a nice quiet vibe to it. Kind of a whole in the wall feel. I'm curious about all the wine they had. I should've asked more questions about that. read more

You can walk into a coffeeshop and tell that this place truly cares about the coffee - it's not about the scene or the IG wall or the hype. Adorable neighborhood coffeeshop -- and yes, that's all they do, make coffee. They do take time with each order so it's not your grab-and-go wake-me-up-joe. They have a couple of seats outside where you can enjoy some fresh air and let time slow down while savoring your coffee. read more

TBH it ranks middle of the pack for me. My Latte was good but the vibe wasn't really my aesthetic. It was a quaint little east side spot but nothing to shout about. The staff were really friendly! The coffee was fine (we ordered an oat milk cappuccino and iced oat milk latte). The decor was cute and hip. It's a small shop, so seating is limited. We went on a Sunday morning and were able to find a table, but I believe all the other tables were taken at that time. read more

Another happening spot on weekends. Easy to miss, unless there's a massive line out the door... but the wait isn't too bad. Staff was friendly and helpful... busy. By far the biggest annoyance is the clientele..... obnoxiously waiting in front of coffees coming out... talking away... ignoring the line of ppl trying to get to their coffee... this small group of ppl stood right along that table the whole time we were there, about 15 minutes, just blocking off access to ppl getting coffee! I wasn't a fan of their coffee, too light roast, tastes like iced tea. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in Austin. The coffee is reasonably priced in consideration to other shops, but the quality of the coffee and taste is superior! I usually get a drip coffee when I go and then get refills for a dollar. I'm not sure how refills work with a specialty coffee. I have also had a latte here, very good. Seating inside is pretty small but very cozy. There are picnic tables outside if you bring your dog! Overall a great place and the staff is always great! read more

First time trying Figure 8. Literally steps down from my job. Upon first impression it's a quaint, little neighborhood coffee shop. The decor and "clutter" was a little off-putting IMO. Has a true "keep Austin weird" vibe ...exposed boxes stacked high on racks, pop of nice plants here & there, mixed furniture, huge opened coffee bags stacked on the floor, things hanging from the ceiling, etc. It's a lot to take in. The place was moderately filled, a person per table hammering away at their laptops. Ordered an iced latte, breve (half & half) with 2 additional shots of espresso and vanilla syrup. See pic. Mild in flavor - Kenyan Espresso wasn't strong or robust. Smooth in texture. Overall decent flavor. While the small menu offers nice selections, I was not impressed with the lack of flavors/sweeteners (what coffee shop doesn't offer sugarfree syrups??) and overall vibe. It's quirky, but basic. Cashier was accommodating but stand-offish and not friendly. Didn't smile once. Didn't feel welcomed. read more

Figure 8 is one of my favorite independent coffee shops in Austin. The coffee is always good and although the interior is a bit crammed and grungy, orders are ready quickly and they've got outdoor seating available. They serve baked goods made by Sour Duck Market which are always fresh, moist and excellent. The staff is polite and expedient. Nothing negative to report. read more

The lavender flavor was very forward and there was a hint of sweetness on the back of the tongue, so very accurate. I didn't get as much coffee flavor here so maybe double espresso if that's important to you. Friends also tried the seasonal coconut macadamia latte (they said it was nice, like a sweet nutty flavor). Really solid coffee spot with great vibes, I'd come back.

The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below..
