I had two classic cars shipped from CA to the midwest. This was my first time shipping any cars so I was a bit nervous about it. This company and the driver (Steve) were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. They got a quote back quickly and when I set up the trip they said it might take 2-3 weeks to arrange for pickup, they called in a week with a date and time. Steve was fantastic as one of the cars was running and the other was not and due to the size and weight of the cars they had to go all the way to the front of the transport so the one had to be pushed. Steve was available the whole way on the phone and kept me informed during transport. He also arranged directly with the restoration shop for delivery of the car that was going there. Once here he had to unload and reload since ours were up front. He took a lot of time and was extremely careful with every vehicle. Steve has been with the company for 29 years and his experience showed from start to finish. If I ever need a transport again I will certainly use Intercity Lines. read more

It's like first class on Virgin Airlines versus Greyhound bus. Both will get you across country but you may get stabbed on Greyhound. INTERCITY LINES has a dedicated fleet of clean, modern trucks. You can call the professional driver on their cell to meet for pick up. So easy. Other, cheaper, companies use a broker and give your car to some trucker with the lowest bid. Horror stories from these cheap transporters include: 1) Drivers who don't have a cell phone 2) Drivers who don't speak English 3) The car above your car leaking oil and battery acid on your car 4) Placing your car directly behind the dirty black diesel exhaust pipes 5) Bolting down a car so tight it breaks the suspension Need I continue.........why do you want this nightmare? Also, many people spend months looking for a beautiful car only to discover it in a state far, far away. You might want to save money driving it back home. But how would you feel about your new baby when a big rock chips or cracks the windshield on the long highway drive home. I contacted Intercity lines after reading a lot of forum comments and supposedly they are the best. But they refused to give me a quote Allegedly because "Unfortunately we do not run from CA to WA " After writing this review I had a side conversation with Dean, he politely explained the reason why they do not serve the California to Pacific Northwest route, and provided me with alternatives. I hope they can update their site and thus avoid further disappointments, as although they are not perfect, I heard they are the best and I was looking forward to ship my vehicle with them. read more

Cross-country moves are pretty much guaranteed to add measurable stress to your life. Thankfully Intercity Lines won't. You can pay less to ship your car but to me the extra cost was absolutely worth the peace of mind Intercity provided me. A friendly driver (in my case, Eric) will come to your home, load your car up on an enclosed truck and take it to your destination (in my case, San Francisco to Washington, D.C.) Your car will never change hands - it will not be transferred to another truck. And anytime during the journey you can call your driver's mobile phone and ask him where your car is. When you get your car on the other side it will be in the exact same condition it was when you loaded it up on the other end. Because it stays on one truck with the same driver, you can put important stuff (in my case, many bottle of California wine) in your car and they will still be there when you retrieve your car. If you've got to go through the hassle of shipping a car I would, without reservation, recommend Intercity Lines. read more

Working with Intercity Lines, Inc. to ship our GT3 six hours away was amazing from the first phone call. Our driver, Josh, called the night before to give us an estimated rendezvous time, and he arrived in the morning spot on. The car was closely inspected, loaded up and covered. I needed to have a car shipped from Ohio to California and my husband found three names that did this. After doing a bunch of research I finally settled on Intercity Lines. They were a little more than the other two, but the high level reviews they received and the fact that Jay Leno uses them, Gas Monkey Garage and Chasing Classic Cars then they were good enough for me. I had to request a quote a few different times because the car was delayed in getting finished, but each time they were very responsive (Matt) even when I asked questions about how long the delivery was, etc. Once the car was ready I submitted my paperwork it did take a bit for the pick up to be done, but they advised me that right way stating some auctions in Arizona were going on. They also are a smaller company I believe, so again I was okay with the delay I wanted the great service that everyone else raved about so it was worth the wait. Finally, the date was booked and they called the person who had the car and made the arrangements with him to pick it up. Unfortunately, there was a delay due to weather so they were a day late, but they kept the guy with the car informed of that and that is not on them. However, once they arrived there was an issue with the trailer door not opening. They tried to get someone to fix it there, but they ended up having to drive back to their place with it. Again, they called me let me know what was going on and promised to be out the next week and I don't have any issue with this. Things happen, but I liked how it was handled, they called, they apologized and made sure to get the car as soon as they could. The car was finally picked up on a Saturday and as soon as it was, the driver Darrell called me to let me know he had it. Advised me when he thought he would be in my area and said he would contact me in advance of delivery. The day before delivery he called me with a time frame and we made arrangements to have it delivered to a parking lot near my apt. so we could off load not on a busy street. He called me the morning of delivery with a closer window of time. Once he arrived, he called me again to let me know he was at the location. We showed up and him and the lady with him were wonderful, very nice. He needed to move a car around to get to mine and you could see all the cars had covers on them and the driver seats were covered as well. When they brought mine down there was a towel over the driver's door also. They took there time unloading it, allowed the car to run for a bit since it has been sitting for awhile on the truck. I received a call the next morning from their office, just confirming I had received the car, everything went well and to make sure Darrell had kept me in the loop the entire time. I have heard scary stories about open transportation. I reached out to a car club in Virginia and they recommended intercity lines. I got a quote and they even gave a discount for using the club. When they came and picked up my s2000 it was perfect the car is completely enclosed, And I knew it was in good hands because my $25,000 car was the lowest in price on the rig. They do a full walk around and detail the scratches on the car prior to loading and cover the floor mats and driver seat. My driver was Rob and he called me every other day, I loved that because I always knew where my car was and how much progress it was making. I've had to move across the country several times for work, so I've shipped cars more than the average person. Most recently, I used Intercity to ship two cars for a move from Boston, MA to Denver, CO. Both cars were picked up on time, arrived on time, and were literally given a white glove treatment from start to finish. Auto shipment doesn't get better than Intercity Lines. Jay Leno and Wayne Carini (Chasing Classic Cars, Velocity Channel) both use their service to ship extremely expensive, rare cars. The driver that handled my car knows Wayne personally, and even once appeared on the show. I told him I was a fan, and he went into his cab and handed me a free Wayne Carini t-shirt. Awesome. Their drivers are independent contractors that use their own tractors (a lot of the drivers have really fancy live-in custom models with built-in kitchens and showers). Though the drivers have the freedom to choose their own tractor, they are all required to use a standard Intercity-owned trailer. The trailers are all very clean, modern double-decker covered units with a fancy hydraulic door that doubles as a ramp to lift your car in. Everyone I dealt with from Intercity was very friendly and went the extra mile. Their prices were also extremely competitive for the high class of service you get. You absolutely cannot go wrong with these guys. That said, whatever you do -- DO NOT -- EVER -- use U-Ship or a shipping broker to ship a car you care about even a little bit. Hands down, I have received the BEST customer service from Intercity Lines! I have moved from Southern California to Northern Virginia, and I was worried about transporting my car across the country in open transports and other companies with mixed reviews. It took a while to find a transport company, but we found a gem - Intercity Lines! We wanted to ship our car from Los Angeles to Florida and spoke with oh-so-many transport companies. CALL INTERCITY LINES FOR YOUR AUTO TRANSPORTING!!! What you are about to read is a true story based on real events: I am a REAL customer that had never heard of Intercity Lines until I found them (Matt, Nicky, and Paul) and they saved me from insanity made my dream come true and treated me like I was more than just a customer. (For less money too) The story begins about two months ago. (April 2019) I had about 10 days left in my 28 day trip at work here in The Democratic Republic of Congo. (Yes West Africa)(Don't ask) I usually get itchy to buy something right about then and I guess this itch was a big one. So I found the car. A beautiful 1971 SS Camaro. I wanted to marry it. But I live in Maine, and my soul mate was in Spokane Washington. It was a private sale from a really cool guy that just didn't drive the car much anymore. So sight unseen except through photos and face time with the seller I plunked down the cash. We spoke on the phone while I was still in Africa and as soon as I reached home the deal was done. I had bought the car that I have always wanted. That's when the fun begins..... So now I need to get the car 3,200 miles from one corner of the country to the other. I travel the world regularly and this was one travel experience that was turning out to be a travel nightmare, and I wasn't the one traveling. I of course requested several online quotes...BIG mistake. I got about 50 quotes within and hour and I thought "cool this is easy enough" the prices seemed fair and I was told what I wanted to hear from a few of the people I talked to. I made an agreement with a "company" in New York (pretty sure it was a dude in a basement) it was a mid range price with what seemed to me a decent person. He didn't charge me anything "thankfully" and he said he could get the car to me within 10 to 14 days. I had about 3 weeks until I had to go back to work so I would still be able to enjoy the car for a week or so before going back. A week passed and no word. I called they guy a few times and he did always answer and call me back, but only because he wanted the job. I had no idea of the shady inner workings of some parts of the auto transport business. The company didn't have terrible reviews but I was a bit I was concerned that I chose unwisely. Í will admit that when talking to him he sounded like he should be on the Sopranos, but so what....I have an accent too so no big deal. The week passed and I said that I would be finding someone else to do the job because he clearly could not. He kept telling me his "dispatcher" was working on it. More like his mom was......Anyway He said and I quote "let me tell you how this works"......Well anyone that knows me knows my reaction to his statement. Lets just say the final 90 seconds of that conversation was me telling him how I work. I'm not where I am in life today because I let people tell me how things are going to work. I employ people that know how "it" works and when I tell them to make it work they do it. I don't get into details. If they don't get it done then I find someone who can. That's when I found Intercity Lines. I mean c'mon, Jay Leno? Monster Garage? Those people live cars. How can I go wrong? Except can I afford them? Yup they were actually 200 dollars cheaper and NO SCAMS!!! So it turns out I couldn't go wrong. These people are all business! No messing about. They told me exactly what would happen and that is exactly what happened. Which actually is how "ït" works! From the very beginning talking to Matt I knew I had done better than before, but I was still skeptical. But not for long. After speaking to him a few times and coordinating with the seller Intercity Lines took care of the rest. Nicky the coordinator called. I received an invoice, then Paul the driver called and gave me a time frame. Everything went so smooth. Then When I had to go back to work I was concerned about receiving the car. I'm back in Africa and the car is on it's way to Maine. Well hold on there-NO PROBLEM. They kept in touch by email. They even adjusted the drop off time so my other soul mate Kate could be available to take delivery. AND they parked it in the garage for me! (Kate was a bit nervous about getting behind the wheel of her new rival.) So to make a long story longer DO NOT ASK FOR ONLINE QUOTES!!! Simply disappointing. I've used Intercity Lines in the past with no issues, so I thought things would go well this time around. Unfortunately I learned that they are not a truly door-to-door delivery service, despite what their website says. If their transport truck can't get to the delivery location such as a suburban house in a residential neighborhood, it seems like you're responsible for figuring out the last mile delivery. Headquarters/support says they're not responsible for the last-mile cost of getting the vehicle to your destination if their tractor trailer can't get there. Because they have no terminals, they can't/won't transfer your vehicle to a flatbed tow as part of the service. So after paying top dollar of enclosed transport carriers for "door-to-door" delivery of a $xxx,xxx vehicle, I still had to arrange my own flatbed tow to get the vehicle to my house 3 miles away. Compare this to when I shipped my $x,xxx daily driver with a cheapo no-name open air transport across the country for half the price of what Interline charged, and that company brought the vehicle to downtown in the city to my work parking garage on a dedicated flatbed truck. While the driver was great and did their best, headquarters was unhelpful and their actual execution of service fell well short of expectations especially for the cost and I won't be using Intercity Lines anymore. read more

These folks charge a significant premium for their services. But that premium is worth it, if you have a car you really care about. I did a lot of research before hiring a company to move my fairly nice car from Texas to New York, and discovered a lot things that make Intercity different. 1. Your car is in true enclosed transport. That means a roof and a floor. That's not true of all transporters that claim to be enclosed. In fact, some offer a normal car trailer with a cover but no floor, meaning that your car is still exposed to all the crud from the cross country move. Intercity shows up with a truck like what you would get for a move of your furniture. 2. Door to door means door to door. That is, a driver shows up at your house with the nice enclosed trailer, and then shows up at your new house with the same enclosed trailer. Other transporters either deliver to a terminal, or offer door to door service that involves your car being brought to your house via, essentially, a towing service or flat bed sort of situation. Not so here. 3. The same guy brings your car the whole way in the same truck. No weird transfers between trucks and drivers. The same person you meet at the embarkation is the same person who brings it all the way home. You can call him on the way to check on progress, coordinate delivery, ask questions, etc. Not to mention that my delivery was fast and exactly on promised time. Contacted Intercity Lines for a quote in April 2019. I was looking at buying a car in PA and wanted to know what it would cost to ship it before I committed to buying the car. I wanted to use Intercity due to their stellar reputation. I filled out their online form and all I got back was the automated response that they would get back to me with the quote. The quote never arrived and in the meantime, the seller changed his mind. Fast forward about a month and the seller contacts me and says he changed his mind again and the car was back on the market. I emailed Intercity and told them I was still interested in the quote. Matt replied and told me it was still good. I replied back and said that I never got it in the first place. He forwarded it to me and stated they were 2 - 3 weeks out for scheduling. I had the car inspected, closed the deal within ten days and then contacted Intercity to go ahead with scheduling the transport. I filled out the payment forms online and was then told that the window for pickup was now 3 - 6 weeks out. I had a deadline to pick it up from the seller before he went on vacation or I would have to wait another two weeks. I informed Intercity of the dates involved and it quickly became apparent that they would be unable to pick it up before the seller went on vacation. This I could understand, but as I updated Intercity with the availability of the seller, they would tell me that they "would continue to work on it". I wanted them to use the dates I provided to get it scheduled, but they wouldn't schedule it until the seller was back in town. Then Monterey car week was approaching. I spoke with them and hey explained that they were busy with that and would be until probably the middle or end of September. At this point, I started looking at other options. I found someone else who was a small, two-man team and they got the car to me very quickly in good condition for $300 less than Intercity quoted. This was also enclosed transport. I had waited two months for Intercity and then hired someone else and had the car in two weeks. I feel like Intercity Lines didn't take me seriously because I'm not some rich, big time collector. I don't think they ever had any intention of transporting my car and they didn't have the integrity to tell me that. It's October 6th and I have yet to be contacted by them since our last correspondence at the end of July. Update: Now that I have posted a negative review for Intercity Lines, they have tried to contact me twice by phone and once by email. They were GREAT!!!!! from start to finish. Jim was just AMAZING!!!! He kept me posted BEFORE -DURING - AFTER pick up. Jim is VERY DETAILED ORIENTED. He provided me great information about his arrival, how to prepare and what would help things to go smoothly. While moving the cars onto the Truck he explained every step and why he was taking any of the actions he took. He was not rushed and took great care of the cars. During transport he kept me posted, we were able to track the travel times (feature built into the cars) and it all aligned with what Jim explained. I do not want to leave out LEVI who is just awesome. When the truck came down the street there was LEVI at the window to Great Us... Just Priceless... There are a lot of auto transport companies out there and picking one is difficult but after Intercity was referred to us by our moving company, I checked out their website and reviews. Brady, Sharon, and our driver, Bruce were THE BEST! The company is made up of professionals that know how to treat their customers and take great care in the vehicles they transport whether they are moving a new Ferrari or a 1943 jeep. Intercity was about $100 more than anyone else. But when I saw the reviews on here, and heard Jay Leno uses them I decided the extra $100 would be worth it. The experience was 100% great. It started out by needing to change the drop off date because of the seller confirming my funds. Roy in their office made sure the date got changed and was able to get me a driver/truck just a couple days after the date set. They also allowed use of a credit card, which is a plus over other companies (more miles woo hoo!) Mike the driver got in contact with the seller and arranged a painless drop off experience for him. He then called me with an ETA (of just a couple days!) and updated me daily on his status. The pickup of the car went great. Car was in exactly the same condition as it was loaded up as, clean, and looked great. This company is amazing!!! Do not waste your time with all these brokers that call you and promise you the world. This is an independent company and they do what they say. My car arrived 2 days early. It was covered with a car cover and plastic and well taken care of. The driver Jeff was very knowledgable about cars and called me several times to let me know where he was at and when he would arrive. Yes, it cost a few bucks extra but well worth the money. Intercity Lines was fantastic! As luck would have it, I found my perfect car across the country in California. After buying it, the dealer recommended another transport company for moving my car, but after waiting through almost of month's worth of them not picking up my car, I did some research about alternatives. Intercity Lines quickly rose to the top. I contacted their Operations Manager, Jeff, on a Thursday about mid-day and we agreed on a price (it was even slightly lower than the other company that never picked up my car). He said they'd be able to pick up my new car over the weekend or by Monday at the latest. The Intercity Lines team, Ron and Karen, actually picked up my car the very next day. I was told it would take 7-10 days from California to South Carolina, but my car was delivered safely to my house 4 1/2 days later. I was really nervous about the shipping process and damage to my car (this is the first time I've had a car shipped), but Intercity Lines' professionalism put all my fears to rest.
