The main office couldn't figure out the referral form from my primary doctor for 3 days, while telling me to call them to send the right paperwork, when I didn't even know what that was. After I told them I'd find another surgeon, they magically sorted it out. (Btw, this doc doesn't know how to use any modern tech. I was at 1st appt for over 4hrs). I got my surgery scheduled with Dr. Bright very soon. I had a plate and screws inserted into my ankle, which took about 2 hours. My main issue with care was that I was not given any pain medication but told to take Tylenol, although I have no history/issue with it. I had to call the next day and plead for medication while crying in pain. Also, I kept falling during my rehab, which my PT reported to the surgeon. His note should've raised a red flag, but my surgeon or office never called. When I went to see him, he briefly looked at my X-ray and my ankle and recommended removal surgery. I ended up getting surgery from a different doctor, and he said that my ligament was torn, and this should've been easily seen from an X-ray when I was injured at the beginning, and this should've been fixed during my first surgery. Why should you have a surgeon who barely listens to you, reads your charts or notes before coming into your room, or checks your updates from PT? I'm still suffering 2 years later after 2 surgeries; this may be permanent. Do not get close there.

I went to two Orthopedic surgeons who both said I needed rotator cuff surgery. A few people (two in the medical field) told me to have Dr. Schofield do my surgery, so I went to him expecting to make a surgical date. He looked at my MRI, did some manual tests on my shoulder movements which were very limited and said that I don't need rotator cuff surgery and that I have a frozen shoulder and to increase my PT. I was shocked and thrilled that I sought a third opinion. My shoulder is getting better with increased intense PT. Sadly, the nerve damage in my shoulder which is affecting the use of my dominant hand might need surgery and Dr. Schofield is helping me find the right surgeon for this unusual surgery as there's no one in Sarasota that does it. Dr. Schofield is kind, soft spoken, explains things well and listens to my questions and concerns. His staff are all very nice, and the only negative is that you can't leave a voice message. If they're answering another call the recording says to call back and then disconnects.

All my nervousness disappeared when I walked in. Everyone was amazing and so friendly. From the front desk, to my nurse, the anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist, to the operating room staff. They had everything ready for Dr. Frimmel. All went as scheduled, no one seemed rushed, and all were very knowledgeable. The facility is beautiful, new and very clean. Any referral I've asked for, she has told me I need to figure that out with my insurance, myself. She breaks everything possible into multiple visits so that billing happens as much as possible. For my last appointment, I had a urinalysis that she admitted she never reviewed, even though it was a severe issue that needed immediate care. I had to make a new appointment a week later to review those results because I still wasn't feeling well. When I told her it was unacceptable that she never reviewed my results, she said "it's Monday" and "you're not my only patient", I said it's been a week and that's a terrible way to treat a patient. She back tracked immediately and said she did review my results and never followed up because she didn't need to. She then began being very condescending to me and even told me she doesn't need to mother me or check back in (and denied telling me to call her if I needed a medication change, as my infection was a tricky one to treat). I again, told her this is very condescending as I was just following exactly what she told me to do. She actually hung up on me during this telehealth video call. She is truly the only PCP that was available when I moved here and it is clear why. The office itself is so gross and creepy. She's cared a lot more about my outfits I wore to my appointments, than my family's colorful cancer history! This was my final straw after her lack of care for 2 years, so this is probably a blessing in disguise for me!

I will not be taken advantage of and will always stand up for myself and the red flags this place was waving did not fly with me. 1) They want you to sign a document stating that they can charge you a day before a visit (they say it is for telehealth only but the "legal document" does not specify telehealth). 2) Go to pay your copay $1, but surprise there is a $10 minimum charge and I never carry cash. Not anywhere in their signage or documents does it go over a minimum. The old Indian man at the front office tried to tell me I can't go anywhere like a store or restaurant and pay less than $10....WRONG!! I already tried to leave the office because they couldn't conduct business properly and as I'm walking out they called me back to the desk and try to explain more, as I'm saying that they can not charge me more than the $1 copay the office man said that I would not be a good fit for the office...DUH!!! I was already on my way out the door. 3) The office is disgusting, I have to unfortunately go where my insurance is covered and I made a poor choice going here. I can't believe this place is still in business. It's so unfortunate for those who don't have access to better care than this. I thought I liked the Dr. and Nurse Ann, but the front desk staff and their policy is atrocious.

Putting that aside the care I received was outstanding!Nurse Kelly my prep op nurse was so kind, explained everything , made me comfortable, I felt a real connection to her! Top notch professional!! The CRNA I believe his name was Edwardo was so kind and gentle, answered questions put in my IV, reassured me he would do his best to keep my post op pain under control and he did! I then met the Anesthesiologist Dr. Lawson, Wow what a gifted man. Answered all my annoying questions so thoroughly including telling me the history of the drug used to control bleeding! So kind and caring! Silvi my postop nurse was amazing too!! Then Dr. Silverstein, what can I say? He is a gifted talented surgeon with a hint of sass who explained to me step by step what he did! I had my last hip replacement on the left side by one of the surgeons who was on the team that invented the anterior approach in Michigan at a fancy state of the art surgery center. Although I was happy with the care there it didn't match the care I got at Premier! So happy I got the surgery here in Sarasota! I hope this snowbirds recovery goes well. I have been dealing with a chronic issue that continues to worsen, and she always takes me seriously and does not brush me off, which I genuinely appreciate. I have been in her office in tears, ready to give up and she can always reassure me and bring me back to earth. She never hesitates to make a referral to a specialist, which means a lot. I have been to some primaries who try to know everything and they tend to have you going in circles for a while. I also appreciate that if I mention wanting a specific test done, she doesn't get upset and is more than willing to help me get it done. I usually would go to Sarasota Memorial, Downtown, which I do for breast exams, etc. and rate them highly. I will not come back to SMH at University Parkway for a MRI. The person providing the MRI said he was at the end of his 7 hour shift. He was not dressed neatly in "uniform" of any kind, and smelled of BO. I first thought he was a maintenance person. He did not provide assistance in terms of how to negotiate the MRI bed, what to hold on to, etc. Very casual and not engaged in the process. Very unusual from positive experienced I have had with SMH downtown.
