Not really sure if thats normally how it is. I bought 2 cherry shrimps and it ran me $6. Thats about the same price as 1 from empire fish on Northern Blvd. I asked the lady for 2 female shrimps and she picked them out for me. Unlike Empire, when I asked for a female shrimp the guy there said there's no way to tell. BS

Before I address the haters, I want to say this place is my top choice for a local fish store. John…read moreand all of the crew greet me with warmth and casual professionalism everytime I walk through their doors. Now if you are still on the fence about coming here due to some people questioning the durability of MA's fish with them getting sick" within a day or two after bringing home" or that "Selling sick fish is unacceptable". Let me ease your mind. Yes, fish do get sick sometimes. That is always unfortunate. It is also sometimes out of a LFS's control at times. Pathogens, parasites and protozoa are always present in aquaculture. Symptoms may remain dormant or negligible and cannot be detected from a glance. Hence it is why we in the hobby quarantine new fish, not just for diseases we can see but also those we cannot. However sickness can sometimes not be preventable. Something you CAN prevent is a massacre of your whole tank by simply QUARANTINING YOUR FISH. If you allow time to do its thing you will most definitely know whether or not any action needs to be taken. Simply dumping new fish into established tanks just means " I dont care about my fish", " If they die its not my fault since I didnt know they were sick". Now alot of people in this hobby are beginners and thats great! Just learn to ask for help. If help is coming from a person who "pretended he didn't understand what I was saying", GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. There's this pretty neat place call the internet. Oh? you're on it now? WOW! SEE look at that! Not so Hard right? BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!! :) All in all, sorry for the rant. It is just frustrating to see such a good and hard working establishment come under fire from people who dont do their research and go "oh no, the consequences of my actions" when they screw up. K Bye ;)

They use dynamic pricing for tickets. We went on a Saturday around 1pm and tickets were $50 for each adult and parking was $22 per car. Some of the exhibits also have an added charge. So if you don't have a membership, it can add up very quickly. You'll do a ton of walking, so definitely wear comfortable shoes. Most of the paths are paved and it's super stroller friendly. Much of the park is organized by geography. We saw tigers, snow leopards, bison, giraffes, komodo dragons, swans, and a ton more. Though it was busy, the exhibits felt pretty accessible and it was easy to catch a view of the animals without a long wait. They have a few concession areas throughout, but options are pretty limited so I'd eat elsewhere. There's also a carousel, monorail, and shuttle. There's a nice view of the Bronx River on one side with a waterfall. Great for families and kids. You can see everything in one day, but it definitely requires several hours.

Like any typical dad, I had to go much bigger. After finding the tank I wanted, I called several local "upscale" fish and pet stores in Westchester, but no one had it in stock. I even called the manufacturer, and they told me that Beital's Aquarium was definitely the place I needed to contact. I called the next business day, and what I believe was the owner answered. Right away, he started calling his supplier while I was still on the phone trying to track down the exact tank I wanted. That level of service was impressive. Within about 15 minutes, everything was handled and I was able to place the order. He even matched online pricing. Since that first phone call, I've been making the drive from Westchester to shop there for some really amazing fish. Anytime I have questions--or even random algae problems--Craig, the owner, has been an absolute expert and incredibly helpful. You can tell he has years of experience, and it makes a huge difference for customers like me. Great store, great service, and an owner who truly knows his stuff. Highly recommend.
