Happy customer…read more Look... This establishment is a small family ran business and the folks here work hard for your business. I took an old fireplace mantel (130 or 140 y/o) to be stripped and refinished (not restored). It was partially painted and partially stripped. There were 2 goals. The 1st goal was to bring out the beauty of the original FP without making it look like a new piece of furniture. The 2nd goal was to stay within a budget and timeline. I had contacted a few shops sent pictures and a description of what I had and what I was looking for them to do. I ended up with bids that were light years apart. This place and one other place (Bradley's) were on budget and could deliver on time. I felt comfortable with either but Magic Hands responded earlier and I was able to see their work so I went with them. I had a couple shops come in at 3 to 9 times the price and honestly felt like they may not have really understood what I had. A one tried to tell me the wood was oak and another tried to tell me that the mantel shelf was not original. No fault as they only saw pictures but i was less comfortable with their perspective and approach. In the end Magic Hands did a very nice job repairing and refinishing this mantel. I am very happy. Note: You need to spend the time to discuss your expectations with them. Alex was very knowledgable but English is not his forte.

Poor customer service and disgusting shop! I dropped off kitchen chair cushions to be reupholstered…read moreon a Friday. Much to my surprise, Alex (the owner) told me I could pick them up the next day. I was thrilled! I returned the following day with Alex nowhere to be found and a staff that had no idea where my order was. I left my phone number and Alex called me to let me know the cushions would be delivered to my home later that day. They weren't. No cushions. No call. I called Monday morning to find out where my order was. I was told I could stop by anytime before 5:30 to pick them up. I arrived at 3pm to find no Alex and no cushions. Keep in mind in a phone call earlier in the day he said the cushions were already there! I was told he went to pick the cushions up and would be back in 10 minutes. 25 minutes later he showed up at the store with my cushions. Apparently, he has someone do the upholstery off-site. To his credit, the workmanship was wonderful, but I won't be bringing my future projects to him. He over-promised and under-delivered. And what I've yet to mention is the state of his store--it's an absolute disaster! And it has to be a fire hazard. I'm surprised the health department or the fire department hasn't shut them down. The city of Mundelein would do well to inspect this store, because people could get hurt. No place to walk. Dirty dishes and old furniture piled everywhere. Decrepit stairway and "showroom." Ew

Originally, we were only looking to restuff the cushions of our couch and love seat with firmer material (which are now extremely comfortable) but ended up also having him completely redo 6 kitchen chairs with new padding, new leather upholstery that matched the old perfectly, and rivets. The chairs look and feel amazing! Additionally, Al restored the leather on a 20 year old recliner and it looks like new. It was a pleasure to work with Al. He is extremely responsive and helpful, and the workmanship is top quality. We extended the life of every piece we brought him by years!
