The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the location is so convenient to Hotchkiss school, Lime Rock, Millerton, and more. Was it perfect? No. The place is definitely showing its age. The pool was cold. Maybe that's because it rained the day before. It definitely did not feel heated. The ping pong table by the pool was semi-broken and crooked. The kayaks did not feel safe. They are the kind you sit on top, not in. We were unable to try Morgan's restaurant because we were there a Monday through Wednesday (June 24-26) and it was closed. It opens Wednesday evenings. There was no bar either. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. You go to a window in the basement where there are no tables to sit. You can order a bagel, parfait (which they were out of), donuts. We ordered bagels but they weren't fresh. Breakfast items are $3. Coffee and tea were free. So, we found that we had to keep leaving the property with all of its lovely amenities to eat and drink elsewhere. The food truck was fine for a quick bite, but the tables are in a grassy field. Not an option when it was raining. Luckily, there are a lot of good restaurants nearby, although many were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We just got married here on 10/22/2022 and it was seriously the best day of our lives. The Interlaken Inn is one of the most beautiful wedding venues we've ever been to. As soon as we stepped foot onto the property, we knew we wanted to get married there. The foliage is unbelievable during the fall months, especially in October. Having the ceremony on the lake was a nature couple's dream. Definitely include the golf cart as your transportation to and from the ceremony, that was a big hit, plus it makes for great couples photos. If you're lucky enough to have your rehearsal dinner at the property, take them up on the bonfire option. The bonfire is located across the street by the lake. We had smores and provided blankets from Amazon for our guests. So many people told us that it was a perfect way to start the wedding weekend. The food at the Interlaken is absolutely incredible. We chose the global buffet and it exceeded our expectations. I cannot even tell you how many positive comments we received just about the food alone. We were able to fit 180 people comfortably within the space with an easy transition into the after-party behind the barn doors. The after-party provided our guests with so many games and lots of space to relax on the couches and keep the party going. The venue is dog friendly, which is a huge plus! We had our dog in the wedding and she was also involved in the rehearsal dinner and reception. There are dog-friendly rooms to book, but the penthouse suite is not dog friendly, so if you do have a dog you will need to have your dog stay with someone else if you are booked in the penthouse. The penthouse suite is one of the best hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. The bathroom is massive with the best tub and walk-in shower. There is a fireplace in the bedroom/living area. There is also a large deck/porch that includes tables, chairs, a wooden swing, and a hot tub! My parents rented the Basha Cottage, which came in clutch for the bridal party. The bridesmaids were able to get ready there while the groomsmen got ready in the penthouse. The Basha Cottage comes with a full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. There is also a hot tub on the side deck. We cannot thank the staff enough for all of their hard work, constant communication via emails, and for helping make our special day absolutely perfect. Susan is the wedding coordinator we had and she made our wedding magical. We highly recommend her!! Susan, Victoria, Jodie, and Michelle are an unbelievable bunch. My team has used Interlaken Inn for several team workshops. From a group of 10 to a group of 30, our experience is always amazing. The prices are very reasonable for what is offered. I have come to know a lot of the staff and they have all been wonderful and respectful. Any request is met and handled in a timely manner. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy. The rooms are comfortable. The food prepared in Morgan's Restaurant is top notch and plentiful. For groups they have a game room/library, that our team uses in the evenings to unwind. It is relaxing and a great place to just hang out at the end of the day. I booked a stay for three nights with the Interlaken Inn on June 26, 2020, via Booking.com, selecting a non-prepay, fully cancelable at no cost, rate. The rate and booking terms and conditions called for $0.00 cost cancellation until September 2, 2020. I canceled on August 3, 2020. Instead of refunding all my money, as set forward in the terms and conditions, the hotel sent me an email with a document stating they were going to keep $25 as an administrative fee. This goes against the terms of the reservation (attached). Additionally, the hotel was also not allowed to pre-charge me for my reservation, per the terms, but they did so on June 26, the day I made the reservation, for $309.35. This charge allowed them to keep the $25 fee they arbitrarily charged (outside the terms), and they refunded only $284.35 on August 3. When I advised this hotel, via three email constants over one week without reimbursement, that I would take my complaint public to Yelp and other online reviews sites, should they not refund my $25 by the next day at noon, the manager, Ryan Bousquet (the only person I have dealt with during all discussion per this refund) stated that I was "committing blackmail" by saying I'd review the quality of my experience online. Unreal. And today, when I called Booking.com, the agency I booked the hotel through, to file a formal complaint, they told me that manager Bousquet had written them and told them that he could not "process a credit as my credit card was declining THE CREDIT he was trying to apply". No emails from Mr. Bousquet, which I have four, detailed this alleged issue. A call to my credit card company, Chase, confirmed that they have seen no credit attempt and they stated that refunds are never declined. Additionally, it was only 11 days ago that the hotel successfully credited my card with all by the $25 fee in question. In other words, in my opinion, Mr. Bousquet's comment appears, to me, to be a lie. Overall , this has been a ridiculous rebuffing of a customer who has all their documents in order and is correct per the terms of the reservation. This fee is truly taking advantage of the customer, and while most would not fight it and just let the hotel keep the $25, I will not do so, purely on principle. Yes, I did not spend the night, but all people looking to find a hotel in this area should be aware of their hidden charges and total lack of customer service. I never, ever would have stayed here, had I known that they do to people what they do to me. Potential customers deserve to be able to know this up front. Thanks for your time. read more

The main building looks like a ski condo from the 1970s, and the hallways smell like mold. The "modern" rooms (if you can wrangle one) are a bit better than the rooms that haven't been redone, but not by much. The mattresses on the beds are hard, old, and dip in the middle. The walls are extremely thin--I could hear every word spoken in the room next door. And when I dried my hair (in the bathroom, like a normal guest), I fried the circuit breaker. The only thing keeping this place going is its proximity to Lime Rock and Hotchkiss. It needs a full renovation. Not worth the price. Stay in Great Barrington instead. read more

In any other place other than Lakeville, this would be two stars, at best. Drab decor, thin walls, poor housekeeping....The only reason this hotel stays in business is due to the local boarding school population and Lime Rock. There's just no competition. But there should be. I have stayed here on many occasions for many days at a time. Yes, the property is quite appealing, but the buildings are just beyond boring. They need a serious decorator to come on board and provide some color and excitement. Most of the time I stayed in the modern building fronting the road that is like a Holiday Inn. My neighbor's snoring became an issue at 2 a.m. Once I stayed in an older building out in the back. I was in a huge room where my lamp never worked and there was no Internet connection. The rug was old and the decorator must have studied Dowdiness 101 a hundred years ago. They serve coffee in the lobby every morning and I have actually had a couple of very decent meals in their dining room. If you have anything to do with the Hotchkiss School, you are right down the hill. Easy commute. Just be prepared. This may be the best place to stay in the area but it's really just a frumpy run down motel that needs some serious fine tuning. read more

Highly recommended for conferences/weddings/weekends! I work for an non-profit in NYC and was looking for a place not too far outside of the city for a retreat for about 20 people from all over the world. We're a non-profit with a tight budget and large workloads. The Interlaken was absolutely perfect for us. The best thing about the experience (to me) was that the corporate sales manager was so easy to work with. We had to unexpectedly cancel in July when we originally planned to go. They were really flexible and allowed us to use our deposit forwards a future date (we ended up going in January). I kept changing times/guest lists/plans, and the manager was really on top of it - thinking one step ahead of me. I didn't have to do much at all in terms of organizing/logistics/worrying. I really appreciated being able to relax and enjoy the retreat. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were very nice as well. I've read complaints about the decor, but I don't really agree! My only complaint was that the service in the restaurant was frustratingly slow - but could be very easily remedied. The staff was so easy to work with and accommodating I can imagine planning a wedding here would be a dream! They were more responsive, accommodating, and on their toes than the people I dealt with at my wedding venue in a different part of CT. I wished I had gotten married at the Interlaken - it would have saved a lot of pre-wedding stress!!! read more

The Interlaken is the suggested place to stay if you are attending Lime Rock and/or Skip Barber. It is very closely situated to Lime Rock and can handle larger crowds (as is typical on a race weekend). Would I recommend it? It is okay... just not great and there are some negatives. I think I would rather look for a nicer bed and breakfast instead. The overall building and lobby area is fine. Maybe just a little dated but nothing bad. Seems mostly well kept up. Service was fine, perhaps a little less efficient than I would expect for a place of this size. But ok overall. The room in the main bulding was musty smelling and the decor a little dated. The main negatives are the lack if sound insulation means I kept hearing the person above us walking around, and voices in the adjoining rooms. The bed was hard and not comfortable and the worst part is the pillows. The bed was also quite small (seemed like the room was a double full size) for two people. The bar was good, but did close early at 9:00pm (as well as the restaurant) on the first night we were there. The gent from Bulgaria tending the bar was quite the comedian and very friendly and generous with his pouring. Breakfast was good for a continental style. Real NY Bagels, range free hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, yoghurt. Service at breakfast was very good. Breakfast promptly ends at 9:30... so if you have a late night.. be warned. Dinner there was good. I felt service (it was not crowded) was fine. Some sort of pork wontons with greens and a wild mushroom soup to start, a hanger steak with grilled swiss chard and potatoes. The only thing I did not care for was the home made sorbet for desert. So in summary, it is a workable place to stay. If you like a firm bed and hard pillows, it may even be to your liking. We had our wedding here in 2018 and it was perfect. The setting, the staff, the vendors - everyone hit it out of the park. So much so that we keep coming back for weekends away. We recommend doing s'mores by the fire in the evenings with some hot chocolate and taking the kayaks out during the morning. It's such a peaceful lake. We love checking out Millerton, NY nearby and eating at Morgan's right in the main building. Always fresh and local food. There's tons to do in the area from antiquing to checking out Lime Rock Park (race track) to some hiking. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and makes every stay a pleasant and stress free experience. We've also brought our pup up for a weekend and can definitely say it's dog friendly. My family lives nearby and we had never been here but I am sorry we waited so long. We had a family meeting over Christmas and booked a table there - while the place was empty the service was great and the location beautiful. The restaurant has a lovely inside vibe and an beautiful patio which would be lovely for an engagement party or wedding reception. The food was overall wonderful - my steak & blue cheese salad was AMAZING (a worthwhile holiday splurge for my cholesterol) and the fries on my cousin's plates delicious. They did forget the chicken on my father's chicken caesar which was too bad. But the bloody's were good and they had a nice beer on tap. We will likely return for another family meeting as it afforded us the privacy, quality of service, and atmosphere we wanted. read more

We stayed at this place for a wedding. We had one of the townhouses, and it was recently renovated, so I gotta say, we were pretty comfortable. I did think that the prices they were charging for a hotel in the country were pretty steep, and that's the only reason that I didn't give this 5-stars. I did want to give a quick shout-out to their wedding planner, Stephanie. She was on top of her game. It was actually my sisters wedding, but she mad the whole even run smoothly, and I know that it's not an easy job. I would say that my small dealings with her were great, and my sister really liked working with her as well. Gorgeous location! Came here for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. Did the romance package. Dinner at Morgan's was delicious! (Left a separate review there!) Breakfast was okay, I'm glad it was complimentary with the romance package. They gave us chocolate covered strawberries (5, which I thought was slightly weird since we're 2 people, luckily we're good at sharing the last one) and prosecco which tasted good. The king bed was very comfortable and we had a nice screened in balcony. The outlet in the bathroom didn't work but we didn't need it so we didn't mind. The woman at the front desk Dareen was so courteous and attentive to what we needed. Nate was also very helpful in showing us how to get to the lake, which was about a 5 minute walk. It's hard to fathom asking guests to spend several hundred dollars to stay here then on top of it add a 2 night minimum. I've stayed in much nicer places with wedding group discount rates at a fraction of their asking price. A $40k dollar wedding should be enough. As far as atmosphere, this place is amazing. However, for the money I spent staying at the resort for the weekend - I was slightly disappointed. We stayed in an apartment, I was very disappointed on the mold on the steps when you stepped outside of the back door - I slipped and fell more than once. The other thing that perturbed me a bit when I first walked through the door the kitchen garbage was overflowing (from who ever stayed their last) where I couldn't even fit a water bottle in it. I ordered quite a bit of food for the bridal suite while we were getting ready - and it was cold, scarce and way over priced for what we received. read more

We had our daughter's wedding here this past December. It was terrific! The food was outstanding, every selection was raved about; and we had 3 professional chefs among the guests. The wedding planner, Stephanie, did an excellent job. The rooms were all clean and well appointed. (We had guests in all of the types of rooms) I gave a breakfast the next morning that was also done really well. Except for one table of diners from a conference at the Inn, and another table of French speakers, we were the only customers. A bit of a mystery since the service was excellent, the food even better, the decor lovely, the classical background music right on the mark, and the prices reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. Free samples of white wine immediately put us in a good mood. Warm biscuits with a hint of dill and sweet butter were delicious and filling. The sweet corn soup tasted like fresh corn picked on the local farm that morning -- which it was! The other appetizer of red and golden beets in a balsamic vinegar with goat cheese and hazelnuts was beautiful plated and equally tasty. Main courses of pasta Bolognese (made with beef from locally raised cows) and red snapper in a red pepper crust on a bed of sweet corn were generous, satisfying and interesting. We shared a dessert of a double chocolate ganache with hazelnut ice-cream. Two people left the restaurant smiling. The server mentioned Morgan's doesn't like to advertise but relies on local customers from nearby venues. My mother and I booked here 6 months prior to our stay and confirmed TWICE that we had 2 queen beds in the main building - once upon initial reservation and once a few days before we arrived. We also asked about food as we would be arriving late from JFK (9:30 pm) and wanted to make sure that we could get some dinner upon arrival. No problem, we were told. The kitchen is open until 10 pm. We arrived at 9:30 and the woman said that she was pleased to offer us a King Bed. No - we said... We confirmed 3 days ago that we had 2 queens and that is what we wanted. 15 minutes later we had still not checked in because she needed to move someone else, who had not checked in yet, out of their room, so that we could get our confirmed room. Yikes! However, this woman didn't know how to use the computer so we were still waiting. Finally, we brought up dinner for the 2nd time, as we now had only 10 minutes before the restaurant closed. Oh - you need to eat? Well no problem, the kitchen is open until 10. Just walk up the stairs. So, we walk into an empty restaurant and a man informs us that the restaurant is closed. Excuse me? We just walked 20 feet from the front desk who sent us here. But now, we have no room and no food... But wait - he can get us some olives or cheese or perhaps some soup? Well, that would have been fine for a snack but we had been traveling for 10 hours to come to a $300+ per night room with a reportedly fabulous restaurant and we have neither a room nor food. And now, we are reaching a point that nowhere will be open.. We did find a great restaurant "the Woodlands" who bent over backwards to make us feel welcome but I can't say anything positive about the Interlaken Inn. My mother and I were obviously a pain that they did not want to deal with. The customer service is appalling. The room we finally got was the 2nd room of a townhouse suite and, while decent, was not worth nearly the price being charged. And when we finally did get a room at 11 pm, I was appalled to watch the man from the front desk and the man from the restaurant, watch my mum struggle to take her bags out to the car and not once raise a hand or offer to help. Fortunately, I drove up to get the bags myself but their complete lack of chivalry has guaranteed that I would never recommend such an over-priced, back water and shabby hotel. If I were not here to visit my nephew, we would be gone already. Luxury it is not. I have been at better holiday inns. read more

If the good people at the Interlaken Inn weren't charging so much I would likely give a better rating. The hotel itself is charming, and in a great location for a weekend getaway from the city. But the amenities are more akin to a hotel costing half as much. The main building and furniture are a little older, and it shows. The walls are a bit thin, so you'd better hope your neighbor isn't too loud. I found the staff to be a little less than accommodating during booking and for my stay. To top it off, I was staying here for a friends wedding. I think the reasoning for them to choose this place was that everything was included, keeping their workload down. I guess that's good and all, but for the cost per person, I felt like they got ripped off. The portions were small, to the point that my girlfriend and I had to go out for dinner afterward. Appetizer service was the bare minimum, and I felt that the staff was sometimes overwhelmed. I definitely know I wouldn't have my wedding here. Overall, it's not a bad place. However, when you consider what you get for what you pay, it leaves you with a bad taste. If they cut their rates, I may consider it, but otherwise, I'd rather book a hotel a bit further away and drive in. read more

Its quiet enough even when the band is playing on a Saturday night! John and Eric are pros in the kitchen. I've never had a bad meal here, and fantastic is the norm when eating here. John's menu choices and dishes are awesome. I would eat Lobster fritters 3 meals a day if I could! The steak is always done just right and where they get the meat from what I hear is local sourced and you can always cut it with a fork tender. Organic fere range also from what I understand. I have stayed here twice. The first time I booked a room with a queen bed and the second time I booked a town home. Definitely its not worth the money I am spending. The amenities are so, so. Bathrooms are not luxurious. I took the town home because it had a kitchen. However the kitchen utensils were pathetic and bare minimum. We stayed at the Interlaken Inn for two nights in October and had a terrible experience. We checked into a hotel room for $300/night expecting a comfortable room. What we ended up with was a room that smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke for the entirety of our 2 day stay. This was particularly problematic as my husband has a very serious illness and we carefully seek out hotels where he will be most comfortable. The manager I spoke with about the issue was incredibly unkind and when I asked how the hotel planned to address the issue including reimbursing us for a service that fell far short, he said "I don't appreciate your blackmail and I have a way of dealing with people like you on TripAdvisor." I think that response speaks for itself. Very unfortunate and would not suggest staying here to anyone. read more

Stayed at Interlaken for Valentine's Day with my Valentine. The staff at Interlaken made our stay perfect. They were so nice and helpful. They upgraded our room to the main building since we had not brought our pet with us, our room was beautiful and had an outdoor patio that we took advantage of drinking tea out there. Tea we had brought at a local tea shop and the staff had brought us tea cups and warm water. Like I said the staff was absolutely amazing. Morgan's the restaurant in the Interlakn Inn was amazing. The food is out of this world. I absolutely loved the hotel and I look forward to coming back hopefully when it is a little warmer out. read more
