I stopped into this little grocer while waiting for a table at nearby Jalepenos. It's not big, but it has a ton to offer, lots to explore, and really friendly staff. Overall the biggest win for me was that my daughter is going through a very specific indian noodle phase, and this is the only place in KC that I've seen the kind of instant noodles that she is obsessed with. So, we clearly bought a bunch of them! I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to stop here, but I enjoyed my visit and I'm sure when I'm in the area I'll stop in for some staples that can't be found elsewhere. read more

Not very honest people, prices are concealed and often way over priced. They dont usually take credit cards like any other American enterprise like because they are a specialty store and monopolize on that . When you have to pay via credit card they dont take the charged amount but infact what their business would incur as well by the card company....despite having over priced meats and other products. I have stopped going there completely since it seemed so stingy. read more

This is not a review that is written after a one time/couple of visits. My review is summed up from 4 years of my shopping experiences at International Groceries. The one big reason I continue shopping here is the 'human touch' this place offers that others lack and in one line their product offering is 'Happy, Healthy and Honest'. I say healthy and happy because, the animals are raised humanely, grass fed in their natural habitat, never caged or fed food outside their usual (natural) feed and never given any growth hormones. This family owned and operated store stands by their product and it definitely is a higher quality of meat you can find in the Kansas City metro area and I am glad I found it. Over the past few years, International Groceries was one of secrets' for all the compliments I get for my food. Be it Kebabs, Biryani, Kheema (minced meat) or BBQ, the guaranteed fresh and tender meat from this place offers is the best you can buy for your money and deserves some appreciation. You are greeted with warmth each time you step in to this store and more importantly addressed by your 'name'. This place reminds me of what lost in time with the advent of big box stores that crushed mom and pop stores. Folks at this place remember your choice of meat, the usual cuts you get from the meat and also offer tips on how you can get the best out of the product. I call them in advance to order meat and also check availability of the meat. This helps me save time and almost all the time, I had my order ready to pick up on arrival. What a lovely spot to enjoy spices and a wealth of culture. The selection of worldly foodie goods is tops. The nice lady will greet you with a Salem. They have many imported perfume oils and ceremonial accoutrements. Many rice choices, teas, and sweets like dates will expand your pallet here. I have shopped there 4 times. Each time I bought meat. (Lamb, goat, chicken) They always ask how I want the meat cut. All of my purchases (cheese, bread, herbs, meats) have been exceptional quality and service. The lady that works there will give you great ideas and suggestions for things that you may not know about. Its not a fast service place they custom make your order if you want, but so worth the wait. I can say the meats I have purchased from them have been of the highest quality in KC. read more

This is a cheat person, all the items are priced higher than any other store. Some are up to 50% more. When I asked him why you are selling more expensive and his answer was this part of town can afford more expensive stuff so I am selling it on higher price. Really!!! Definitely would not recommend as they sell regular goat meat in the name of baby goat and charge you a premium for that. It is extremely expensive as well..they keep changing the price of the meat and leave you wondering. You pick a few things here and there and you have a $100 bill..they do not show you what price they are ringing on the cash register and you get to see only when you get the receipt. Common items are so overpriced compared to other ethnic stores. I would stop going here and stick to PAK halal place which has fresh meat and is priced appropriately. read more

I went at the store today to get some goat meat. Customer was asking his money back. And saw the owner was yelling at the customer and telling him to come later as he is very busy! Customer was definitely not happy and he argued so the owner threatened to call police if doesn't leave. Terrible experience when the owner yells at a customers and threaten them to call the police instead of trying to resolve the issue. read more

In the past I have lived in 3 different states across US and I can tell you that the quality of their meat, and service is far superior than others I have tried. They are always polite, provide great customer service, and above all their meat is never frozen and always so clean! I always find what I need and have only positive things to say about them. Really cool that there's a legit place to get halal meat in OP. As soon as you walk in you see a huge freezer of whole lamb just hanging on hooks. They sell their lamb by young lamb and regular lamb. You can get a mix of all parts, the front legs, or the back legs. The mix is around $7 per pound and the front legs and back legs are 50 cents and a dollar more, respectively. They butcher the meat fresh for you when you go in. They recommend calling ahead if you want to buy in bulk. The shop also has a large variety of Middle Eastern/Indian/Russian groceries. read more

I will not return to this store and do NOT recommend it. I bought some beef meat and was using my debit card to make purchase, after putting in and removing my card, the owner (lady) said that I removed my card out too soon and should put it in again. I was hesitant to do so as I could tell the payment was already processing however she was very insistent that the payment had not gone through and asked me to slide my card in again which I did. Well, needless to say, two days later, I noticed that I had paid twice for the meat. I went into the store and explained the scenario to the lady owner. I showed her the bank transactions to prove what I was trying to explain. I hoped that she would either refund me the extra charge or ask if I wanted the meat again - either would have been acceptable. Instead, she began arguing with me, telling me that she only got paid once for the item, that I should wait out a week or so and the charge would drop. I told her I had already spoken to the bank, the charge was not pending, it had been drafted because they processed my payment twice. Still she would not barge, she repeated her statement and asked me to deal with the bank. It's been two weeks now and still of course the payment hasn't reversed and I have to call my bank to dispute the charge which is BS! What a way to treat a customer! This place clearly doesn't care about its customers nor do they care to be honest. Obviously their business practices are not American. I would not return, terrible customer service and they STOLE my money. Beware!! Check your bank drafts if you pay with credit or debit. read more

Small store with limited products and High prices (especially the meat). Can get the same products for a lot cheaper at other stores like Shahrazad, Paq Halal or Habashi mart. Stopped going there after finding out that he charges about 25% more for meat than other stores! read more
