The revolving belt didn't have a huge selection, especially if you're mainly looking for sashimi, but the chefs were incredibly kind and brought us extra pieces that weren't on the belt, which I really appreciated. One thing I'd recommend is going somewhere else since they don't offer an AYCE option, especially if you have a big appetite. We mostly grabbed the purple plates, and they added up pretty quickly, so AYCE would have been the better value for us. Service and experience were both fine, the sushi itself was just not it--based off that alone, I doubt I'll be returning. If you're into American sushi, cooked sushi--this will be your place. They had limited sushi options. Vegetable roll, shrimp, salmon and tuna and yellowtail nigiri, tuna sashimi, dumplings, crab Rangoon, a crab salad. The same thing, over and over and over again. Sushi rolls aren't cut evenly, sashimi was thin, it was just very boring sushi. You can order off the menu if you'd like for full rolls. Stopped by Umami Revolving Sushi and really enjoyed it. The conveyor setup makes it a great place to try rolls you might not normally order without committing to a full plate. Everything came out fast, and the two chefs behind the counter were clearly on top of it. There was a solid variety of options going by, so it was easy to sample a mix of classic and more creative rolls. Basically self serve - you just grab sushi plates off the belt when it comes, but you also ask for specific items on their menu to be made custom for you. Different plates for different prices. Very cool concept, food was ok, some warm dishes came out cold because I grabbed them a few times around the revolving belt. variety was good, plates can rack up a little fast but thought prices were reasonable. The only thing keeping me from giving them 4 stars were, the people sitting next to us coughed and sneezed all over the place and being next in line was not ideal. I went to Umami Revolving Sushi with friends recently and it was great! I had never been to a place with conveyor belt sushi and I loved it, and a friend who had been to other ones like it said that Umami is definitely a good one. We all ate at the conveyor belt counter. I liked that there were options for both cooked and raw sushi as well as sashimi and appetizers, which included but were not limited to gyoza, crab Rangoon, and tempura shrimp. I loved everything I tried with the exception of the gyoza, though that's more of a personal preference, and even then it was still yummy! While not all of the sushi options on their regular menu made an appearance on the conveyor belt, they do have a good variety of sushi rolls on their menu for anyone who dines at a table instead of the revolving counter. There are many rolls I'm looking forward to trying the next time I eat here! Every single staff member was very friendly and attentive. The only thing that could be improved is that wait staff were a little inconsistent with drinks and giving dishes of wasabi and ginger to people as they arrived (I was given a dish right away, but not everyone with me got one so quickly). That said, I think this could simply be an issue of waitstaff adjusting to being open, because otherwise they were very attentive. For that reason I think this could easily improve as time goes on, but only time will tell for sure. The atmosphere wasn't bad, but also didn't stand out to me. I would have liked to see more decorations. So all in all I really enjoyed eating here, and will absolutely be going again! Friendly sushi chef and u can order if u don't see in the belt. While we were there they have special promotions 7 plates then one plate is free. The resturant is only open for six days so very new and clean. You can get bubbles teas and other special soft drinks. The bar doesn't look like all set up yet. I've been excitedly watching and waiting for the soft opening of this new and much improved location of our beloved Sushi Train...name and location has changed but same amazing family/employees and sushi no longer on a train but still fun! Added to that the new Boba Tea Bar, sadly I may not be able to try, I love Boba Tea but my body can't handle sugar well so may have to obtain from that delicious inclusion... The new location is beautiful and very modern style with that great touch of family atmosphere. Sitting on the corner of 135th Street and 69 HWY is easy to find and an added bonus next to Sam's Club and Home Depot which are both major shopping spots for me! I now live 30 mins away from Olathe and was pleased to find this is only 30 minutes from my home by way of 69 HWY so Tom and family can expect to see us often. I went to Umami for lunch on a weekday. The revolving sushi bar was about a half full when I was there, I feel like it's probably busier at night or on the weekend. There wasn't a ton of variation compared to other revolving sushi bars I've been too. Everything was pretty good but there was nothing that that really stood out to me. I feel like everything was kind of overpriced for what you were getting. Maybe it was just kind of basic sushi since it wasn't full for the lunch crowd and they didn't want things to go to waste which is understandable. We didn't order off of the menu so I don't have any idea what was on there but I would like to come back sometime to try some more things off the sushi bar as well as the menu. They had different drinks and bobas as well so that's a nice addition to what you can get here. I've been to the other revolving sushi place in Kansas City that has a train so when this opened up near my house in Overland Park, I was very excited. The bar with the revolving sushi conveyor belt is very large in an L shape. Most people here were coming in for the revolving sushi experience, so sometimes there could be a wait. The selection of sushi was rather wide and they kept refilling frequently. I would have liked to see more Nigiri type options but a lot of of them were cooked, tempura, appetizers etc. also I'm taking a star off because the sushi's are not covered. In this day of a lot of airborne sickness and flu etc., I just wish there would be a clear plastic lid on these plates. Everyone is sitting on high barstools where you are above the level of the sushi conveyor belt so it's easy to sneeze, cough or even when just talking out loud for the sushi plates to get contaminated. The two chefs behind the bar were super on top of their game- feeding all those people that fast is impressive! The concept is a lot of fun, but be strategic about where you sit- you get better options based on where you sit in proximity to the chefs, and the direction of the conveyer belt plays a huge role, too! That said, they did a great job about walking some items over to us to get first dibs and even things out a bit. The sushi isn't the best, because they are leaning more on the concept than the quality. It's fun to do once but I'm not sure we'll be back with so many other, fresher options out there. Most of the options here were deep fried, and they didn't send the really good stuff out (like yellowtail nigiri) until we had been there almost an hour and were full. If they fried fewer items and expanded their fish types (scallops, ikura, mackerel, eel- these would all be welcome additions) I'd for sure return. They use plastic straws and plastic cups for the water so BYO bottle to avoid the extra microplastics. They served my husband his oolong tea in a disposable cup... they can improve their efforts to reduce waste. read more

Lowkey I wouldn't go here if you're trying to eat lots of good sushi at reasonable prices. It's about $2-4 per revolving dish (which is how you can sample sushi instead of getting the entire thing), while if you order a full roll instead, it's about $10-15. So, although the concept is cute, I def felt paying about $20 before tip for 6 pieces (samples or shared roll between my friends) was not worth it as I was still hungry after. Our servers were nice and helpful though! Lastly, ambient and environment is a little weird because you're situated at a bar like structure and facing strangers instead of whoever you came with. So honestly, it doesn't really matter whether it's a date, family, or friends outing, just be prepared to sit side by side lol. read more

I hesitate to recommend this business because the tuna looked questionable. My husband lived in Japan for years, and I in California. So we are sorta aware of carbon monoxide treated tuna. I was visiting Overland Park and in the area, so I decided to try out this place. It was a quick meal; I was in and out within 30 minutes. The prices are really good, especially for a sushi restaurant. I had an assortment of sushi, nigiri, and fish. All were good. I also got a fruit tea, which I would recommend. The restaurant had seating around the revolving bar, and you could sit down, meaning that those who don't want to eat at the bar can order from the fixed menu instead.
