The lady who checked me in was friendly and efficient at checking me in. I got an upgrade (I'm Titanium status) and she explained their Pantry to me as well. This property has a full service bar and restaurant in the lobby and each time I walked in/out that place seemed to have quite a bit of business happening. The parking lot was interesting as it was the first Marriott property I've seen with reserved parking close to the door for Bonvoy members - which is nice! But if we're all Bonvoy members, it doesn't prove effective nor beneficial. The room was big, but dated. The bathroom did have a nice shower stall, but the colors are definitely suggestive of needing to be updated and the carpet in the room and furniture were definitely showing signs of wear & tear. The bed was open under it and when I looked, it was a dust jungle - yuck! Along the wall next to the bed, by the bedside table was all very dusty and clearly hadn't been vacuumed in years. The bed was ok, not very comfy. The TV didn't work properly - But I'm not going back to the desk to complain, nor am I calling and waiting for a maintenance person to come, this stuff should all work properly when they give the rooms out. Housekeeping should either check or there should be a weekly maintenance check. In this case, the streaming channels kept saying the TV wasn't connected, so I watched regular TV, which isn't what I prefer. I hit up the Pantry the next morning for coffee... I immediately noticed the exact same cookies and muffins that were there when I checked in the day before and checked the Pantry the night before as well... Not very appetizing. The coffee is provided via their espresso machine and I opted for an Americano and it was HORRIBLE! Not even good for free! I ended up taking a few sips and tossing it out. Overall, it was decent... Far from the best, but not too bad. I'd stay here again, but will most likely stay elsewhere next time I'm in this area.

I have stayed in hotels on the oceanfront that were extremely overpriced and dirty with the smell of weed everywhere. Not in Founders Inn and Spa. It smells clean and wonderful even in the hallways. The room was the perfect size for my friend and I and the amenities are amazing. Indoor and outdoor pools, we swam in both and they are beautiful. Pictures will be included with this review. The chairs by the pool are new and fancy they work well and just grab a towel on your way in and put it in the laundry basket on the way out. There are beautiful areas that look like English gardens to walk through with roses in them and gorgeous hardwood floors in the lobby and sitting areas. They have a lovely area with marble flooring that could be used as a first dance area for a wedding. If I was getting married again this is where I would go. There are brick walkways to and from the buildings where rooms are and where the Flowering Almond Spa is located. It is a calm and peaceful oasis in the middle of Virginia Beach. I'm not ending this review without telling you how beautiful and yummy the Swan Terrace Restaurant ( that is located inside the hotel) is for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate all three meals there and each were so good! It's so wonderful to swim, sit in the sun and then go shower in our room and dress up fancy (if you want to) then walk to the Swan Terrace Restaurant and have an amazing meal. Breakfast has a huge buffet with made to order omelets which my friend loved and pretty much anything else you can think of bacon, eggs, breakfast potatoes, make your own waffles, bagels, fresh fruit, grits ( one of my favorites) the list goes on and on and that was on a Monday morning. Then lunch is also a buffet with make your own salad options, homemade dressings, fresh fruit cut beautifully and lots of options from soup to grilled salmon, sliced chicken with a glaze and even chicken and dumplings. Then at the end of the buffet they had beautiful homemade desserts. Yum!!! I enjoyed our stay so much, it was so relaxing and awesome to be able to focus on reconnecting with a friend and not worry about anything else. We sat outside in two chairs by the pond that has a fountain in the center. We watched the ducks swim that we found out were actually rescued from a shelter. They are very happy ducks now and very beautiful. They swim around and it is so peaceful watching them and just talking with no worries. We met some great people just sitting in those chairs watching the ducks. Thank you Sam and Rachel for the great conversation. I can say definitely we will be back whether for a weekend getaway or a small vacay. The rooms are priced reasonably and the food is also. Bravo, Founders Inn and Swan Terrace Restaurant! Bravo!!! After explaining to Sono Bello that I was mom to a 10 year old and caretaker to my elderly parent, she told me about AH and told me that it would in all likelihood be a great solution to my quandary. I called AH, explained SonoBello's referral, told them I had a 10 year old child and an elderly parent that I was unable to leave the child with, and was directed to make my reservation online. So, I did. $493. Fast forward to the day prior to the procedure. I called AH to make pick-up arrangements for myself and my son, and was curtly informed that the child was not allowed. "I had not disclosed that information, and there are women wandering around who have had procedures" etc. I was dumbfounded. First... there must have been some wires crossed somewhere, or maybe the owner was in too big a hurry to get me off the phone, because I did mention my child. Apparently she assumed the second guest was my father. Second... "women wandering around"? I was under the impression that this was not in the nature of a private home that was in any way informal or with public areas, but rather that I would have private areas to myself and the second person I had paid for. I informed the owner that this meant I would have to cancel my procedure, and she really did not care. So I did so, asking her to cancel the reservation, obviously, since she was denying my second party admittance (and thus me, since I kinda come with him). Fast forward a month later. I notice that the $493 has not been refunded to my account and call. Her position is that it's not going to be refunded because there are no refunds. Um. Seriously, epically baffled by this. Angels' House tells me I can't come because they misunderstood something ... but then refuses to refund my money? I SMELL A RAT. I'm in process of contacting the BBB, and have also contacted Sono Bello to alert them about the shady business practices being conducted by this business.

We enjoyed every restaurant. Parking was convenient and only $18.00 a day. All the restaurants had great food and good Happy Hour specials. The river view we had was nice. The location is convenient as well. There are also some great restaurants and bars nearby. We attended a concert at NORVA and that was about a three minute walk. I would love to stay a couple more weeks but I couldn't get the govt per diem rate anymore. Some additional pros: Clean hotel, not stingy with waters, $15.00 daily credit (30 for a couple), lite breakfast in lounge, amenities for Empyrean rooms, happy hour specials in lounge, lite dinner in lounge, free pool table at Grain, awesome bartenders who give good recommendations. Front desk personnel are helpful! Some cons: hit or miss service in lounge, drinks can be expensive, no microwave in lounge, no microwave in rooms, cold food in lounge.

The Main is a Hilton property located as named, on Main Street in downtown Norfolk, it's in easy walking distance to the Norfolk Harbor, Waterside, Nauticus, Half Moone Cruise Terminal, Battleship USS Wisconsin & the Spirit of Norfolk. In addition to the wonderful restaurants in the hotel, you'll find restaurant & theater row on Granby Street. The Norfolk Tide light rail line will take you to much more. The most convenient parking is Valet, which they do extremely well. When you exit the vehicle your attendant points out a different path to pick up your car. A checkout desk offers the ability to do add your tip to the charge. This eliminates a last minute scrambling for cash. The experience couldn't have been smoother. I'm a Hilton person. This property is Hilton at its finest.

Had a mini fridge and microwave. We didn't make it to breakfast only because we were zonked from our red-eye flight and the sleep disrupting cough. All of the staff were incredibly courteous and professional. The Lyft ride, for a midsize vehicle to fit all of our luggage, to the port was $13. I would definitely recommend.

Dinner was fantastic next door and breakfast was very pleasant in a sunny room on the first floor. The owner's refurbished this Inn and did a fantastic job. We used to own a very small 5 star boutique hotel and I know how difficult it is to keep people happy. They're doing a great job!

This may sound minor, but as someone who travels and uses Hyatts on a regular basis, it is not the kind of quality I expected from a Hyatt-flagged hotel. Soooooo, if you stay there PLEASE before checking out, do a double and triple walkthrough of your room because certain housekeeping employees aren't HONEST and they are THIEVES. She must've really needed them BAD to have to steal someone else's shoes. Doesn't make any sense to me.

The final time being when I asked for a package that was dropped off, never actually heard front of house staff using profanities in front of customers. Some of the staff reached with either nepotism or desperation hires, as some were clearly not trained in hospitality or customer service. The valet was a whole other issue, was told that it would be on our hotel bill, but it ended up not being. The valets were inconsistent with service and urgency. I even have one slightly rude when I asked to make change, mind you the change, I was asking to make was to tip them. Again, reeking of either nepotism or desperation hires for staffing. The concierge lounge was adequate, a couple of the attendants were quite friendly and helpful, but one gentleman was borderline rude. It almost seemed like one young man was living in there, as he was there all hours of the day and night at times watching the TV with the volume all the way up. Again, could've just been a guest, but it was slightly awkward. I would stay here again, if no other options were available, that being said if any other Marriott property in Norfolk were available, I would choose them over this property. It's a shame, because this location is absolutely fantastic and terribly convenient. Hopefully there is a significant management or staffing change, and we will get to try this property again, but otherwise I will strictly avoid. Housekeeping seemed to be very attentive and did a great job on my room. It was very clean and comfortable for my stay. One party in our group had to be moved because she found multiple roaches in her room. Nearly 2 weeks after my stay was completed, and I still have not received nights, points or spend credit on my Bonvoy account....another indicator as most well run properties post this 3-5 days after stays.
