The dinner was absolute perfection. I ordered a filet-medium rare. The table side service was even better.

I'm not overly sure why some scored this hotel as low as they did. I personally like it. First time staying. We've stayed at the Hilton a few blocks away. The location is perfect. Right on the waterfront, walking distance to everything. Hotel is clean. Excellent views of the river and Portsmouth. General dynamics is right across the way if you have a naval slant. The water taxi is a few steps away. Unless you do valet, Parking is in the garage about a 5min walk away. Best bet is to drop the luggage/check in while the other person goes park. . $15.99 a day isn't bad.. I thought the food was good and very reasonable prices.

We stayed here for a baseball tournament earlier this month. Very nice hotel and it was clean. They had free food in the lobby and free orange crush as well. The only thing I dislike about it was the parking situation, they also had prom happening at the time so that didn't help.

Clean rooms and is the typical setup. I went down to the restaurant and decided on the bar. Janelle was the bar tender. Drinks were good. Food is ok. Bang Bang Shrimp had too much sauce and was sloppily put on running all over the plate. Presentation means a lot the shrimp tasted greasy on precooked and cooked again. They were big shrimp just not cooked like I've seen bang bang shrimp cooked. The salsa was good. The cheesecake was ok. I LOVE the location! Two battle ships were across the pier and I wish I had more time b/c I would've taken the tour. Everything else was good and I want to come back to explore!

Unfortunately i frequent this hotel for work and often times cannot opt out of staying here. The hotel itself is old and run down, shower doesn't drain water up to my ankles for a short shower, carpets look like they never get vacuumed much less steam cleaned. My freshly made bed had dirty sheets. Oh and let's not forget the bed bug issue. They have been fighting this issue for years. My first encounter with bed bugs here was 5yrs ago hoped they fixed it but even with the new mattress covers they still have bed bugs. So much so that when I mentioned flipping the mattress at the front desk the clerk audibly laughed...because they KNOW it's an issue. Even my colleague a few rooms down found bed bugs in his room. They need to shut down, treat the rooms and ditch all the furniture and start over.

Hôtel is clean and has a beautiful lobby area. The front parking gets really busy with limited "15min" spots but they have valet for overnight parking (around $20). I was disappointed that I wasn't able to get any water bottles from the front desk, they said they were out each day I asked and in the morning they didn't have any cup lids so I wasn't able to take a hot coffee to go. The location is convenient, about a 15min walk to downtown.

"If I had wings and I could fly I know where I would go But right now I'll just sit here so contentedly And watch the river flow" (Bob Dylan) Right on the banks of the Elizabeth River we found a hotel that should have been an easy five stars. It has a gorgeous lobby, our room was great with a sweet balcony overlooking the busy riverfront, and the location right in Norfolk's beautiful waterfront with access to the Waterside District's attractions and restaurants is unmatched. But there were so many little annoyances that killed those five stars, like death by a thousand cuts. Annoyance #1 was the ridiculously complicated and confusing traffic pattern to even find the hotel in the first place. Seriously, it was confoundingly weird. Valet parking is pretty steep at $35 a night, but hey.. we're in a big city and we've seen worse. When we arrived to check in, we saw two large registration desks with no clear instructions on where to go, or if there was a difference between them. We waited at the one on the right, and no one even looked up at us, they were too busy going at it with their computers. So, we went to the one on the left, and repeated the same act of being ignored. Then we saw someone walk up to the right counter and was waited on immediately. When a gent at the left finally looked up and acknowledged us, we learned our room wasn't ready. It was around 3:30 pm, so that's somewhat understandable because check-in was at 4:00. "No worries" the gent said, give me your phone number and I'll text you in ten minutes. So, we walked through the restaurant's back door and strolled along the beautiful waterfront and then around the whole block for no less than a half hour. No text. When we got frustrated waiting for that elusive text, we walked back to the hotel and took the same door from the back of the hotel. That's when we saw the door was propped open with a rock because the card scanner wasn't working. That seems like a bit of a security hazard to me, so I hope they fix that before nightfall. We went to the registration desk and registered right away. On our last morning, I texted the valet at 6:45 to have our car. At check out, I asked if the restaurant had coffee to go and learned they weren't even open yet, and this was around 7:00 am. I asked if there was lobby coffee available anywhere, and was told there was, down by the gym. It would have been nicer to have let us know when she said the restaurant wasn't open yet. Instead, I had to drag that info out of her like a cross examining attorney. With coffee in hand, we walked out to the valet stand and saw a few cards ready to go, but no valet in sight. We waited and waited, I went back to the registration desk and was told "Oh, bang on the door behind the valet stand". I went back to the parking lot, banged on the door, the guy asked me my name, he went back inside, asked if I had the Buick, I said no I didn't, he went back in, asked me if I had the Subaru, I said yes, and he brought it over. He never acknowledged my text, and I'm 1,000% sure he was sleeping in that room behind the door. As we were driving out, we experienced two things. #1 was the same weird confusion trying to find our way out of the complex. #2 was receiving a text that read "your valet is hustling for your vehicle. Leave a tip at this link". So, there you are, plenty of improvement opportunities to earn that fifth star.

I would never stay here again, and would not recommend. I reserved a King bed, and the event coordinator confirmed as well, and they were not able to provide one, so I had to have two queens. Once I got into a room, there was dried urine on the toilet seat. Absolutely disgusting. Also, the bartender was incredibly rude. My interactions with her awful. I didn't have lunch there, but I saw several people who were disappointed that lunch either had to be taken to go and eaten in their room instead of in the dining room, or had to leave the premises to eat. I expected so much more from a Sheraton.

Nice hotel with decent fitness room, outdoor covered pool, some harbor view rooms, adjacent to Tides stadium, dining, shopping, waterfront and attractions. No on site self park-Valet $35, offsite garage about a block away $20. If you choose to park offsite you can unload your car & check in (if there is room) before going to parking garage. Agree with another review that mentioned it was confusing when you walk in. There are two desks with no signage or anything to distinguish between them and no one at the desks greet or try to assist. Rooms are nice and hallways are fairly quiet. Mini fridge was a freezer and froze all drinks but happy for something. No microwave. When I checked in online I was given option of no housekeeping or daily housekeeping. Attention to some minor cleaning/maintenance in bathroom and with curtains could take it up a level. If you need to sleep during the day I would t recommend harbor side as you will hear horns from ferry boats.

Stayed here for the AGLCA conference. I've given the hotel room a 3- and 4 + for the conference center. The international and York rooms were great. The area outside for the vendors was also great! The opportunity to visit boats in the water was excellent. The food was really good and the service for lunch and dinners was well done !!!! The hotel as a 3 - room was OK. Bathroom needed updated. The carpet in the room also needed updating. If it wasn't for the conference and boating view, I probably wouldn't stay here again. PS. The first night ( Sunday). I'm not sure who let the animals out of the zoo - but they were on our floor at 2:45-3:10 am!!!! Totally rude, loud and obnoxious idiots!!! Not the hotel's fault. But surely people called. The guy across the hall was even outside asking them to quiet down. Luckily, they must've checked out on Monday as we didn't hear them again, thank god!!!

The location is truly incredible, right in downtown Norfolk with easy access to the waterfront and so much within walking distance. That said, I was a bit disappointed with the vibe on my last visit this past weekend. I was expecting more of a true refresh or "facelift," but it still feels like the property needs additional updates to fully match its potential and prime location. During my stay, there were also noticeable maintenance issues, including an escalator that wasn't working, peeling wallpaper, chipped paint, doors not locking, sheets with makeup stains, and areas that felt generally dated. As for parking I suggest using the paid lots, though they do offer valet. Overall, it's still a solid hotel in an unbeatable location, staff was friendly, check in was a breeze. I would stay again for the convenience and nostalgia alone, but I'd really love to see a more thoughtful, comprehensive remodel to truly bring it up to its full potential.

Self-parking was conveniently located directly across the street and was reasonably priced at a fixed daily rate with unlimited in-and-out privileges. Staff members were friendly, professional, and accommodating. Overall, our stay was good. The only area for improvement would be requiring key card access for elevators to hotel room floors as an extra measure to enhance guest safety. I would recommend it to visitors to the Norfolk area.

At around $300 per night, I expected a much higher level of quality and comfort. When we first entered the room, there was a very strong and unpleasant odor. Maintenance had to come and spray Lysol and ZEP to try to eliminate the smell. We ended up opening the windows and the door to air the room out, which eventually helped, but that is not something guests should have to do upon arrival. There were also several maintenance and cleanliness issues in the room. The closet door would not slide properly, the carpet had visible stains, and the bed sheets had a noticeable stain and were wrinkled. The comforters also appeared worn and not very clean, and the sofa looked old and stained as well. While the kitchen area appeared to be cleaned, the rest of the room definitely needed more attention. Another inconvenience was that only one elevator was working. A gentleman who stays there often mentioned that the second elevator had reportedly been out of service for about two months. The breakfast was mediocre at best -- nothing particularly impressive. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and the lobby and hallways were nice and clean, which made the condition of the rooms even more disappointing. Overall, I expected much more from a Marriott property at this price point. The hotel has potential, but the guest rooms need significantly more attention to cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep.

Hampton Inn always has the features we like and this one in Norfolk is no exception. Upon check-in, we were given a room at the end of the hall on the 2nd floor. It turns out the hotel wasn't too full and we were upgraded to a large junior suite! Our very comfortable suite was easily 600-700 sq ft vs a regular 250-300 sq ft room and was long enough to have two windows facing the street. There is a wet bar area by the entrance with sink, refrigerator, coffee machine & microwave. Behind that was a large closet and a separate bathroom sink area outside of the shower/bathtub/toilet room. A king-size bed, 52" HDTV, desk and pull-out sleeper couch filled up the rest of the room. There are plenty of outlets & USB ports conveniently located on the desk and nightstands to charge all your phones, earpods, watches, ipads and laptops. The TV was even mounted on a swing-out mount so that you can see it properly from either the couch or in bed. The WiFi was adequate but you had to sometimes reenter your info to login. Breakfast served from 6am-10am everyday was adequate, though other Hamptons have better spreads.
