There was a window in front and in back to allow air circulation which was a nice bonus. The woman checking us in even asked if I wanted an extra towel (for my hair). Being a woman, she understood. Oh, and another plus that is a point of contention in a lot of motels/hotels: lighting over the bathroom mirror. This was excellent! A woman's touch, obviously. Note that there is no coffee maker in the room if that's important to you. It wasn't to me. Final plus: Close to the trailhead for hiking to Galehead hut and Munroe's for 7am breakfast. Owners were big dog lovers and offered us a complimentary doggie bandana for our black lab which I'm fairly sure was homemade. She went out of her way accommodate requests and to ensure she provided places I would like to see and things to do while we were visiting. Rooms are all pet friendly and we stayed in a suite like room with a small full kitchen and two bedrooms. The shower was hot (though small), beds were adiquit and the room smelled clean. The office had a bit of an odor about it and I was nervous when checking in but it seemed to be just in the office, not in the room. There is a small trail down to a beaver pond behind the property which was a nice addition to our stay. There was also a grill and picnic tables that would be great in the summer. I would absolutely stay again!

Matthew Payeur (pronounced, "pire" - as in M. Payeur, get it?! ...don't worry, it took me a while…read moretoo...) is the man behind the lens at Empire Imaging. A humble but goofy master of the flash, Payeur works mostly from a studio within his home. A home, which you soon come to realize, was purchased with the secondary function of living, and the primary function of taking incredible photos - "I bought it because it had amazing windows - lots of light. You always have to have windows that face the north, because then you will have amazing light all the time..." Dedication, surely. In my life I've had the opportunity to work with several photographers. I'm not the next Gisele, mind you, but I'm an artist and I love the medium of photography, though I have lacked any particular skill in it myself. As a result, I have stalked my share of talent, admiring work, commenting and giving praise - secretly adoring the kind of art that has always eluded my own skill set. This is how I happened upon Empire Imaging. And this is how I happened to find myself in his studio, preparing to partake in a "Transformations" shoot. A project that takes an average person and transforms them into an alter ego... into - a hippie, a rockstar... and in my case - a flame throwing superhero. My biggest fear was not knowing how to pose. Okay, I lie. My biggest fear was being axe murdered, because I was driving three hours from my home into the middle of nowhere, when the last real sign of life was in the form of a T.J. Maxx seen from the highway half an hour before. All of which, of course, was dispelled within the first 2.5 seconds of jolly greetings, big smiles and small talk normalcy, followed by walking into an amazing studio with fabulous equipment and awards lining the wall. My second biggest fear was not knowing how to pose. What do I do with my head? Where do I put my arms?!? Don't let me make the duck face!!!! In the end, I didn't make the duck face. I've never had a photographer take so much time giving exact direction on where to move and how to pose. Which anyone who has ever done a photoshoot knows, not knowing what to do with yourself makes it the most awkward thing ever. But not here. From the angle of my chin, to the posture in my shoulders to, in one instance, the exact positioning of each finger - no detail escaped his eye, and it was obvious that this isn't just a job, or even an interest - it's his life's passion. And you know what? I drove six hours in one day, just to work with him. Three hours down from Maine, and three hours back. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. If you live closer than I do, you'd be crazy not to make the trek. As a professional hairstylist and makeup artist, I've collaborated with many photographers for fashion shots, runways, weddings, etc... and my only regret about Empire Imaging is that the distance means that I will probably not get a chance to do much industry work with him, and that's a straight up professional tragedy.

EH Florals (Emily) provided me with a gorgeous garland and sourced flowers and fillers to help me…read moreassemble a DIY tablescape and bouquet on the fly. The garland exceeded our expectations and the florals were abundant and beautiful. I made first contact with Emily a few weeks before our event, recognizing that we were on short notice. As an out-of-towner, I was planning and organizing from a distance and rather in the dark. She was bubbly and helpful as she helped put a vocabulary to the types of flowers and the mood we were going for. Since Emily was booked, she suggested another floral artist she trusted, and let me know that while she couldn't full-service the event, she'd be happy to help and to give her a call back in a few weeks. A few weeks later, I gave her a call and by our lucky stars we were able to sneak into her order for the upcoming weekend. We landed on a 12ft garland and a hefty bucket of mixed flowers to paint a romantic, organic mood for the couple. My flower arranging skills are amateur, but I know enough to be dangerous, and Emily filled in a few gaps in my knowledge to help us out for our event (lakeside wedding ceremony followed by dinner for 17). The garland was perfect for the arbor and transported easily from her studio to the ceremony site and then to the restaurant to continue its life as ambient decor. The bucket of flowers were simply gorgeous - she sourced high-end stems and fillers that were enough for the romantic bridal bouquet, two large centerpieces, and five small table pieces. And they lasted for more than a week! The value was incredible. Emily's approach is collaborative, helpful, creative, and budget-conscious. If I had to do it all over again, I would call EH Florals without hesitation.

All sites for RVs are pull thrus. Gravel. Approximately 60-65' long. A little tight but comfortable enough. No 50 amp, but that far north, it's ok. Owners will be adding the 50 amp. There is a pool and playground in the front by the cabins, private from the street. Bathhouse and laundry available although we didn't use either. Very small but good selection of groceries. Ice cream for the sweet tooth. We camped in a 40' MH with 4 slides. Towing a 14' enclosed trailer. Retired couple. There for a week. Visited Castle in the Clouds (about 90 mins) & The Mount Washington Cog Railway (about 20 mins) while there. Gave it 4 stars for the 30 amp only. Would return if in the area.

Our lot wasn't covered with mature trees, but we didn't notice anyway since we were busy hiking and exploring the Whites each day, especially being close to Mount Washington, The Cog, and gas/groceries. It was nice coming home to the warm and clean pool, and the firewood delivered to our site was perfect, neither too quickly burning pine nor wet or sparking, and hence I wish we had gotten our firewood on-site the first nights. It was even accompanied with a bucket of tinder to get it started easy. TMMC was a lovely place to watch mountain sunsets and the nighttime explosion of stars. In all, our stay was clean, affordable, quiet, and comfy.

I had to wait in line for 15 min to reserve a room for the next day, then I was told I had to call as the women behind the from desk did not know how to book a reservation, she also did not seem to be a fan of my dog whom I took on the trip with me. The room was not what I expected, no warm blankets on the bed, felt like I was in a hospital bed with the cheap blankets, shower only had half a door, making the shower experience a cold one. The food was ok, chicken was chewy. Although I lived in VT and would walk the beautiful grounds of the property, would never stay there again.
