Everything about Adair is great! We have stayed at the inn multiple times over the last 4 years and eaten there more times. Each version of owner and chef have been great, but the current combo is the best yet! The staff is the star of the show! Every single person we've ever interacted with at the Inn has been kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. They have been conversational when they perceive we want to chat and efficient when we need that approach. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed - maintaining some previous era charm and elegance while having all the modern conveniences you'd expect and want. Some accept a cot for a child and others are dog friendly. The breakfast (included with a stay but available for purchase) is a multi-course affair that is hearty and delicious but doesn't leave us feeling bloated like many American breakfasts do. The dinner menu is small but offers plenty of variety for well-executed meals with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients. It's the only place in the area that we eat at multiple nights, which as amateur foodies is a huge compliment! read more

When I think of quintessential New England B&B's I think of Adair Inn. Although we have never stayed here, we have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. They seem to be expanding as well with a tent and clearing a nearby ridge to enhance their view. I love the dining area, both inside and outside. We ate inside on this occasion not knowing the weather and summer bug situation. The food remains outstanding- my summer salad was tasty with cucumbers, tomatoes, candied nuts and maple vinaigrette. My entree was chicken picatta with linguine and string beans followed by dessert (German chocolate cake). Everything was excellent and nothing was left on my plate. Adair has a full bar and both my cocktail and wine with my entree complimented my meal. Service was attentive and our meal took a couple of hours; the bill was very reasonable given the service, quality and ambiance. We will return for sure before heading South in the fall. Adair has to be one of the best Inns in NH. It's simply a gorgeous and pleasantly comfortable. Adair is as close to perfection as you can possibly get. The grounds are beautiful, the landscaping is immaculate, the view of the surrounding mountains is spectacular. The staff is exceptional! Stacey the Inn keeper and the staff including the wonderful chef are just beyond words. You can tell they actually care and take pride working at the Adair. The room we stayed in (Lafayette) was spacious and super clean. Nice puffy towels, comfy pillows and the bed good although it did have a few little bumps in the center but nothing that made me lose any sleep over. Adair offers a wonderful country breakfast each morning. And for dinner no need to go anywhere else, the Adair offers an exceptional dining experience. The food is what you'd expect to find in any Michelin rated restaurant. After dinner take a little stroll around the grounds or hang out in the patio area and relax next to one of the fire pits. If you want something more cozy go downstairs to the tap room aka rec room and play some pool or watch some TV. They is also an armoire full of board games which are great for some family fun. The Adair was such a great experience! Will definitely return! I want to personally thank everyone at the Adair for making our stay so wonderful! We spent a long weekend here for Valentines Day. We were greeted by Ben and given a tour of the house prior to him helping us to our room. The Dalton room was gorgeous and spacious. We loved all of the antiques throughout. The staff here really take pride in their job and it shows. Hailey and Kelly were the best bartenders and servers, just so sweet both of them. Dinner was delicious. Ben was wonderful with every interaction. If you get a chance try Hailey's mocktail or Kelly's rum punch. The owner was super helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do. We had a wonderful time and definitely plan to return. I wish I could give them 100 stars! read more

We return to Adair's annually because of the lovely atmosphere, delicious food, great service, hand crafted cocktails, and a pool table and fireplace downstairs after dinner. Every other year, we give Adair's 5 stars. This time, we had two small complaints. The service was very slow. We like to take our time with our dinner out but this felt like waiting. And the roasted beet salad with goat cheese was plenty of lettuce with tiny chopped pieces of beet and some goat cheese. Underwhelming. Other than that, we loved our meal and had a great evening there. read more

Pros (5 stars): -Very cute place with lovely ambiance. I love the feel of eating inside an older home, and the gardens are beautiful. -The food is delicious! The steaks were cooked perfectly and the wine pairing was just right. And while the prices are a little expensive, the price fits the quality of the food. Cons (3 stars): -The service is VERY slow. We were greeted slowly (standing in the foyer for nearly five minutes before anyone recognized our presence), served slowly, responded to slowly... Do not go here if you are in a rush! There were only a few other parties eating there that night, and yet we only saw our server perhaps once every ten minutes. Everything seemed quite leisurely... -The service was out of order. We didn't get bread for the table until just before our meals were served, instead of at the beginning to enjoy with our cocktails. And the steaks were served well before the paired wine showed up. -The service was incomplete. We were served bread for the table, but the waitress didn't bring us plates. We were waiting for her to come back, and when she didn't, I actually had to get up and take plates from other tables so we could enjoy our bread. For a "fancy" place like this, I shouldn't have to do that. -There is a lack of signage on the large property. There are no signs that point you to the restaurant. All the signs say "check-in only," so you would think that door was only for staying at the inn. But no, that's for the restaurant, too. So it's NOT just check-in only. The parking lot should also be marked as "restaurant and inn parking" to make it crystal clear that everyone should park in the lower lot. read more

Holy mackerel! I come to this area every year as a displaced Nee Englander living in Texas - I must have at least a week of real work yet! And every year I make reservations for a special dinner at Adair. The food is always spectacular to eat and beautifully presented and this year topped the list. I ordered the halibut gratinee and it was a true work of culinary art. The halibut was perfectly cooked - I did not even need to chew, it simply dissolved in my mouth. The rice and carrot sides complimented the halibut well. Thank you for a superbly perfect meal! Needless to say- get yourself to Adair for a special meal. You can thank me later. read more

Just spent a perfect weekend at Adair with my girlfriend. We managed to upgrade to the Kinsman Suite which was pretty all I could ask for in a B&B suite. Especially with the MASSIVE bathtub. The inn is just beautiful and we got to enjoy a tiny bit of gorgeous New Hampshire winter that really got us out of the everyday grind mindset of NYC. Could not have asked for a better way to reset our brains and focus on relaxation for a few days. Kimberly and Barry were very welcoming and helpful. Thanks to them, we decided to do a dog sledding adventure at the nearby Muddy Paws rescue kennel and it was one of the coolest experiences of my lifetime. The nearby Littleton was also really quaint and perfect for some antiquing. I'd recommend Adair and its surroundings for anybody looking to break free of the madness of the city for even a short time. Really does the trick. read more

Our stay at Adair was absolutely wonderful. The inn sits on a stunning property of 200 acres, with great trails. The house is really quaint, the inn keepers are the nicest and most accommodating people you'll ever meet, and the rooms are beautiful. The food is also amazing here! Who knew that a world class chef was hiding out in NH! The dinner was unbelievable and one of the best meals I've ever had, better than many great restaurants I've been to in NYC. The breakfasts here are also amazing! The breakfast was 3 courses consisting of the biggest and fluffy popover I've ever had, a tasty fruit platter, and then the main course which for the first morning was a baked apple pancake with pork sausage and the best scrambled eggs I've ever had, and the second morning an incredible eggs Benedict. My girlfriend and I were looking for an escape from the busy city life of NYC and Adair was the perfect place for this! We can't wait to come back! read more

Holy Smokes. My stay at the Adair Country Inn was EXACTLY what I needed from my vacation. After a whirlwind trip through New England, starting in DC, headed up through NY, up into Maine for a couple days, to settle in New Hampshire for the last part of my trip, I really needed relaxation. Setting foot on the grounds of the Adair Country Inn immediately felt like stepping away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Everything about the place just exuded the feeling of comfort. I was only scheduled for one overnight stay, but I simply had to extend for another night. It was so refreshing and a great place to recharge. I know it sounds silly, but I felt the comfort and relaxation down into my soul. The food was amazing, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the room I stayed in (Cabot) was perfect. I honestly can't wait to return there in the future. I never really thought of New Hampshire as a destination I would revisit, but Adair certainly changed my mind. read more

In brief, would I return? Yes! Was Dianna an excellent server? Yes! Was my partner's steak overcooked and her four cheese sauce suspiciously mono-cheese in flavor and presentation? Yes. It must be said: The lamb lollipops were simply perfect in seasoning, temperature, and the suggestion to pair with the Fess Parker Pinot was spot on!! Here is my one big gripe with the Adair: The location is conveniently remote and the grounds are stunning; it truly feels like an escape from the world. The competition for a food and beverage destination for young professionals in the area are dreadful. Here is the gripe, WHY then would the Adair hold such frustratingly short hours of operation? I will return in the near future with at least two of our regular food and beverage couple friends. We will eat and drink and review our experiences. Just please explore opportunities to staff extended hours on your end. Adair, we want you to succeed and provide us a respite from the loud, the dirty, and the pretentious that are our only other after-work gathering spots in the area. read more

A cute restaurant in a beautiful country inn. Had a reservation for 6pm. Upon arrival our reservation was confirmed and we were quickly escorted to our table. Ice water was awaiting at our table and dinner specials were told. Drink order was placed after we viewed and ordered our entrees. The chef offers wine pairings with all entrees. Specials consisted of a catch of the day, a poultry and a red meat, all served with a vegetable and starch. Entrees were served quickly. Food was hot and portions were good. Our server Amanda was attentive to our needs. The restaurant is small, I saw 9 tables in the main dining area. Reservations are definitely needed. read more

If you're around for Thursday night dinner in particular, take advantage of their reduced price "Date Night" menu. My husband and I couldn't stand just eating "plainer" food while traveling in New Hamshire with his parents last Fall. So I asked his mom if she'd like to eat in a "fancier" place on the Saturday evening of our tour. She said yes after she saw the menu did offer my father-in-law some choices closer to meat-n-potatoes. The restaurant at the Adair County Inn is so beautiful, with a warm, cozy feeling. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. They invited us to look around. The billiard room downstairs feels like a trip back in time. This was a wonderful place to feel pampered and enjoy more upscale food. Since several months have passed, I can't recall what the men ordered...I just know that they were very happy. My mother-in-law and I both ordered a chicken dish with an apricot glaze. The only disappointment of the meal was that the chicken was a little bit on the dry side. The flavors were great, though. The Lobster Bisque was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! And the Creme Brulee was scratch-up-every-bit-out-of-the-bowl incredible! Has to be some of the best creme brulee I've ever had. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of food and service you receive here. Next time my husband and I are back in NH, I'd love to stay here, and we'll definitely be back! read more

I came to Adair country Inn with my brother and his wife. The place and its ground is beautiful and so peaceful. The inn itself is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and luxurious and the cherrie on the pie is the spectacular breakfast. There is a beautiful spacious library with couches and tea and cookies there all day and evening. The hosts were very gracious and helpful and since we came when their restaurant was closed they recommended two delicious restaurants in the area. The hosts also were very helpful in helping plan our hikes and activities in the area. We had such a wonderful time at Adair and will definitely come back there when we can. read more

There are few times when superior food meet superior service, but this little Inn had it all. My husband and I did not stay here, but we decided to dine in the restaurant after finding it on Yelp. We called ahead and they took us right away even though it was s busier night. Elizabeth was our waitress/hostess and she was fantastic. Even though she was the only one working a crowded room, she made us feel like we were her only customers. We watched her serve other people as well and she treated everyone the same way. I had the Vegetarian Napoleon and my husband had the blackened cod. There was nothing on the plate when we were finished. We loved every bite. We definitely recommend! read more

My wife and I went there for dinner with our two year old. We were greeted at the front door by the proprietor who was very friendly. We were placed in the library room probably because we had our daughter with us. But it was not a problem and better for us as well as other guests. The service was very good, and they didn't mind us interrupting the flow of our courses to take the rambunctious little one out for a 5 min walk around the grounds. It did seem like they were somewhat apprehensive about having a small child around (over the phone beforehand the woman said it's fine although it's something of a romantic setting), but they were friendly and apparently willing to tolerate us. I would say though that it's not really a family style place - better for a date or a cozy place to spend a weekend away with your significant other. read more

We came here for Valentine's night dinner. We had made reservations for 5:15, but it didn't seem like reservations were necessary - there were many tables open. Food was good but overpriced. Pasta dish was served without a large spoon; filet served without a steak knife. Had to ask for each utensil. We were in Bethlehem for a wedding and had the entire inn for the wedding party - age range from very young to 90s - and the staff handled it all with charm and skill. We just had "brunch" at Adair Country Inn on 04/24/2011. We are originally from the New York metropolitan area and are used to upscale food. The continental touch started with the very, warm greeting by Ilja Chapman, one of the inn keeping couple, with her Dutch accent. We were led past their buffet line which whet our appetites and personally taken to our table in their beautifully decorated dining room. Across the dining room was an interesting decoration which we later learned was a traditional Dutch Easter "tree". After ordering our drinks, we wandered over to our first helping from the buffet line. Some of the items were prepared by their outstanding regular chef, Orlo Coots, and some by the the other half of the inn keeping couple, Brad Chapman. He was at the end of the buffet line carving ham and making omelets to order. There were also some of his famous pop-overs at the beginning of the line with various jellies and jams. The cold choices ran from fresh and cooked prepared salads, fresh spinach with ingredients to make your own salad, salmon and shrimp, smoked by Chef Orlo with capers and sour cream, plus many others. In addition there were the warm dishes to choose from: Eggs Hollandaise, Bacon, Sausage, Stuffed Shells, Shrimp Scampi, and more. I know I have left out many of the dishes. The desserts, which were on a table in the dining room, included, apple pie (which had you asked you could have had a la mode), bread pudding, a heart shaped chocolate "torte" with an icing which was to die for, a plate of various cookies, and more (I am only able to remember what we sampled). During our entire dining experience there was a two person plus a singer in their living room providing beautiful background music at just the right sound level to enhance everything. Two waitresses were also on hand to whisk away our dirty plates as we we back for more food. As we had first entered the Inn, there were plastic Easter eggs scattered throughout the grounds. We had been forewarned to pick up one for each of our party. Each one contained a piece of paper with a number. We all won chocolate bunnies, but I did overhear at least one person winning a certificate for a $20 discount on a future meal. A very nice touch to an outstanding dining experience! read more

I made several attempts, in person, to purchase a gift certificate for my brother's wedding anniversary last August. The first time there was no management available. The second time I waited patiently to speak with the manager as several people were leaving the inn. I was acknowledged after 15 minutes, but when the manager became available she ignored me and went to her office and began making phone calls. I gave up at that point! NEVER will try again. read more
