I had the good fortune of being referred to Britta several years ago by a friend who had previous experience with other acupuncturists, here in Tucson and in Texas, and she recommended Britta as one of the most gifted practitioners she had worked with. I have also had many treatments from other acupuncturists, and one thing you begin to realize is that the benefit from treatments really arises in large part from the "presence" the practitioner has when they are engaged in helping you heal. For those who aren't familiar with acupuncture as a modality, it really is more than just needles, it has to do with acknowledging that much of what we call illness is actually a multi-layered phenomenon that arises from many aspects of the intricate mind body connection, and the needles are an extension of the wisdom that the practitioner uses to allow the patients own innate physical intelligence of the body to heal itself. It's not that hard to grasp really. If you think about how wounds heal, they are not conscious process, it's your bodies intelligence. But when you are dealing with multi system imbalances that may be giving rise to specific symptoms you may be dealing with a large web of interconnected aspects of your mental memories, body memories, emotional impressions, all slathered with poor nutritional choices and wrong perceptions of events in our lives that cause us to become walking knots of energy, the same energy that when it's free to do its work is what heals wounds. So the needles sort of unlock and disinhibit your bodies resistance to healing. It's really worth a try if you've been searching for a different approach to understanding your journey in this life, and Britta is remarkably authentic in her efforts to help you find center. I have had many sessions for various ailments. Don't think of this the same way you think of going to see a "regular" doctor, you're not going to get a "pill for your ill", you are going to learn about how your mind and body are one unit, and you will learn how healing is always trying to happen spontaneously for you, you just need to acknowledge that there are many many levels that give rise to what happened to you to get you to where you are, including all the things you chose to do to yourself, but also all the things your mind may be making your body carry that you had no idea you were doing because it's become a daily habit for decades! I think one of the reasons I've had such a hard time writing a review for Britta is because it's so hard to express everything she's done for me. How can you summarize someone like Britta? I came to Britta initially with issues related to narcolepsy and sleepiness. She was so supportive and thorough. Holistic doesn't even begin to describe her treatments. She suggested diet, habit, and other changes beyond just acupuncture to help with the sleepiness. Though I'm not "cured", Britta's suggestions have made my days much less sleepy and I sleep much better. However, beyond the initial sleep issues, I came to Britta with other things -- relationship concerns, stress, and spiritual development. Through her kindness, support, and generousity, Britta has begun to guide me down a path of spiritual health I never thought I was capable of. I believed myself blocked, completely cutoff from this realm. And she has shown me otherwise. Britta truly believes in every person she sees and brings such love to everything she does. Because of her support, I know I am a whole, empowered being. Through her I have found gentleness and strength. I love that I can often hear Britta's voice and her gentle reminders at certain moments -- I was talking to a beloved friend who also sees Britta about how much she has helped us and that we couldn't be where we are without her, and I swear I could hear her tell me that we were always there, we always had this strength, she just gave us a safe space to find it ourselves. I saw Britta for acupuncture for my birthday, only my second time getting a treatment in my life and it was so amazing. I am an avid believer in alternative medicine because I have experienced the benefits first hand and I appreciate a more holistic approach to healing. Britta is the absolute best acupuncturist that I've been to. I used to play roller derby and would have all kinds of aches, pains, and injuries from skating as well as weight lifting and other physical activities. I've gone to her several times and have had immediate improvement in whatever ailment I went in for. These have included tennis elbow, a strained shin muscle/shin splints, and a fractured sacrum. When I went in for my sacrum, I could barely bend over or sit without extreme pain. Within an hour of acupuncture I could do these things with little pain.
