She has her car towed to Chad Miller Auto Care and calls me to say she needs a new battery and is being quoted $645. I ask her to hand her phone to an employee, and when I asked why this is so expensive the employee raised their voice at me. I asked for a manager and was informed it was Chad himself I was talking to. I would NOT suggest this mechanic. He is unprofessional and perpetuates the negative stereotype of crooked mechanics preying on young women.

Mine has an oil leak at least 4 different places haven't been able to figure out. Chad's garage gave me some hope, but they were never able to fix it. I take pretty much all "guarantees" with a grain of salt. "Bring it back"...pffft why would I? You couldn't fix it the First time? More likely, I'll just be dumping more money in sonl you can "half fix it" a 2nd time. One mechanic even told my wife to "hit the dash when her A/C wasn't kicking on...AFTER they fixed it. GTFO... Really!? Cost wasn't exactly on the cheap side...maybe fair, but ONLY if they fix the problem. My impression is they had way more cars than they could handle and were trying to rush them outa there. Fair enough, but I will not be taking either of ours back. Fair warning to those that do.

After waiting several…read moreweeks, I was informed the issue was something completely different and that additional work was needed, including repairs involving the AC compressor and other components. I ended up paying around $5,000 for those repairs. Two weeks after picking up my car, it was still leaking oil. I returned it, expecting the issue to be covered under warranty, but was then told the new problem was not included and would cost an additional $2,000. At that point, after already spending a significant amount of money and time without resolving the original issue, I was told the vehicle needed an entirely new engine. I ultimately had no choice but to leave the car there. This experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. What started as a straightforward repair turned into a costly and unresolved situation, with shifting diagnoses and little accountability. I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution and seek a second opinion before committing to major repairs here.

What really sealed the deal for us was when we took my daughter's Kia in for a check engine light and Taylor's said we needed spark plugs. Well we had just replaced the spark plugs through Cavender Kia, paid a whole lot for the tune up, so I thought they were trying to pull something. I sent my hubby over and he watched them pull out all the spark plugs and they were never replaced. Needless to say Cavender got an earful and Taylor's got a customer for life!! I work at a Toyota dealership and can get good prices here plus we live quite far away now but we still take our vehicles to Taylor's and when my folks come from west Texas, their truck goes there too. Really trust these folks and highly recommend them to anyone all the time! Good people!!

They came back and told me the same thing we had already discussed -- a very common issue -- but then claimed they "heard doors binding" and recommended a full HVAC teardown. The estimate? Over $3,400. I told them I only wanted the actuator replaced, since it's a simple fix. They agreed that would save money, but their "reduced" estimate was still over $1,100. I said I'd think about it, drove straight over, picked up my truck, and dropped it off somewhere else. The next morning, everything was fixed for $246.81. I don't mind paying to repair my vehicles, but trying to upsell thousands of dollars in unnecessary work is crooked. I would steer clear of this place.

I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic. We'll unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options. Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carl's prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED. 2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled "burnt, rotten eggs" (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had "exploded". Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery. Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughter's birthday party in 4 days. We didn't need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal. I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan. TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!
