Alex and his helper (I think his name is Evan), did an amazing job on replacing our ancient 1946 fuse box with a new 200 amp panel. He obtained all the necessary permits, PGE applications/phone calls and city inspections, very quick to follow up and answered every silly question I had about the process. I was only without power for about 2 hours and he made the process so seamless and stress free for me. My house is split level and on a hill so PGE required that the working surface be flat, I offered to flatten it but he said just to get him a shovel and they will do it! Evan flattened the ground very nicely. Their work is very neat and clean and they were very nice and professional. They installed 2 grounds, one next to the panel and one at the main water shut off and got rid of my old panel. Alex is incredibly competent in both analyzing the issues and remedying them. He needed to replace the sub panel for our breakers, rewiring new breakers and identifying all of them properly. He then pulled a new line for an HAVC installation that was to happen and completed everything in less than a day. His price was very reasonable for this much work. Alex replaced a high number of outlets inside the house, added new weather proof outlets in the backyard, installed and replaced light fixtures, added new lights in the attic, and all while being careful to not harm the old lathe and plaster walls. I met Alex when he was doing work for other owners in my condo building, which is a high rise near Lake Merritt in Oakland. He is well known in the building, because of his excellent work. The building management has many rules; and Alex knew how to adjust to them all; and also how to deal with unusual studs and other wiring in the building -- he's very flexible and imaginative. I needed under-cabinet lighting for my kitchen. I also needed unusual rewiring at my windows in order to install power shades. Alex gave me very reasonable estimates, for both projects. Very important to know about Alex is that he very thoroughly analyzes an electrical situation and works with other contractors seamlessly -- even when multiple visits are required. He also noticed other lighting needs that would be useful for my home. My wife and I are getting on in years and need better lighting throughout our home; and Alex was very empathetic with these needs and imaginative about finding solutions. In this respect, I would say that he provides lighting design expertise in addition to being a master electrician. Also, his prices are very reasonable.
