HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I had a bit of trouble finding the place, but it's next to the supermarket toward mission st and across from Wells Fargo. They have a "beware of dog" sign on the outside. You ring #1 and you will be let in, and then you must go to 208 on the second floor. I called the shop at 3:00PM, they told me to come in at 4:30PM and I was able to get my phone fixed in around 30-45 MINS. The issue with my phone was that everything was working except the display and maybe the touch ability of the screen. I was unable to turn off an alarm BECAUSE I didn't have the display, which was super annoying. I had gone to Apple a year ago when my screen was still barely alive and they had quoted me for a price of around $350. I was able to get it done at iPhone repair for only 130$. With tip and tax, it ended up being around 165$ for me, but it was definitely worth it. read more

I came here to have my iPhone repaired a while back, my rear glass was shattered. I found them due to great reviews, but they are very dishonest and not transparent. I had them replace it but my phone has a phone case underneath, I did not remove that phone case to inspect the phone until after 3 days later to find that the rear cover was not sealed correctly but it was starting to pop out. I brought it back for them to redo the job but they refused to do it. I did not drop my phone either. How does that explain this? What a dishonest business! I'm pleased to say my first experience with iPhone Repair SF totally surpassed my expectations and blew my mind. For most of my needs I already have a "go-to person" who I can trust, whether it's a plumber, a dry cleaning place or a locksmith, someone who I've worked with before and I who know to be consistently reliable and honest. But how do you find a good iPhone repair person? I heard about Ed by word of mouth, and I'm happy to say that now I'm the one spreading the word. First impression: I brought in an iPhone 7 Plus to fix a cracked screen and get a new battery. Basic stuff. I got the phone back an hour later and he had done a nice job... the phone looked and worked better, and even had a shiny screen protector that I didn't ask for. Nice touch! Second impression: As I used the phone for a few days, I started noticing at times the screen was registering false touches, and this made the phone sometimes hard to use. I called Ed back, and he said the screen might be defective and he'd be happy to replace it free of charge. Wonderful! Third impression: I brought the phone in for the screen swap. An hour later, Ed called and said there had been a problem. While disassembling the phone, he accidentally damaged a delicate cable, rendering the home button useless and irreparable. He took responsibility for it, and offered to solve the problem by replacing my phone with an equivalent, or refunding me the value of my phone. Seriously? Yes! Ed offered to go the extra mile to do what it takes to make things right. I was super impressed and very pleased. What a great way to delight the customer in an unfortunate situation. I decided to replace the phone, and Ed helped me order it from a reputable supplier of used phones. This is sort of tricky business, but Ed knows this used phone business. He found an ideal replacement for me and ordered it. Final impression: The phone arrived to his shop a few days later and I came to pick it up. He had checked it out, confirmed the battery was good (he offered to also replace the battery if it was weak, but the previous owner had apparently done that already). He showed me everything was working, and he cleaned the phone so it looked like new. Ed had kept his word. I left with a replacement phone and the original broken one, which could still be used as a backup phone. Would I do business again with Ed? Yes! Would I recommend Ed? Yes! I'm so happy to post this glowing review! I had recently made the decision to purchase an iPhone 8 plus from a seller on swappa.com, and when it arrived it looked to be in excellent condition as described. However, much to my dismay, I soon discovered that there was a problem. Although the physical condition of the device was flawless, and the installation was swift and all Apps functioned correctly, I soon discovered a worrying issue: upon trying to play audio through my earbuds, the device would not sense the 3.5mm adapter I was using, so sound would only come from the speakers. Upon connecting the 3.5mm adapter to my iPhone 6, the sound immediately played through the earbuds, so I was confident that a new software setting of which I was unaware was not the source of the problem. Thinking that the third party 3.5mm adapter that I was using might be at fault, I visited my local Verizon store where I was able to test audio playback with an Apple 3.5mm adapter. Again, only sound through the speakers. I bought some soft pipe cleaners and used a very small amount of 71% rubbing alcohol to clean the port. There was a little dirt, but no clumps of dust or anything that would prevent a clean contact. Still, only sound through the speakers. I then scheduled an appointment at my local Apple store. Upon explaining the problem, the tech attempted to run a diagnostic. However, it could not complete, and when they examined the port visually, it was found to be corroded. As the device was not covered by an Apple Care plan, the only option offered me was to pay $400 for a new device with a trade-in of the old. I was not willing to do that since my purchase cost was almost $600, and for $900 I could have bought the latest model! I began to research repair shops in my area and found that iphonerepairsf.com offered lightning port replacement for $150. Hallelujah! I read the reviews, which indicated that this business seemed to know their stuff and had a good turnaround time. Ed was very straightforward about the risks involved, and I was fine with that because I wasn't keen on having the additional delay of either of sending the phone back to the seller hoping that they could fix it or hoping that they would agree to a full refund if they couldn't. Anxiety kicked in when the first replacement port worked, but then the two mics at the bottom of the phone stopped functioning properly. The volume was extremely low. I scheduled an appointment at an Apple store and their diagnostic confirmed the issue. I brought it back to Ed, and while it took a few tries, he was able to install another port which not only fixed the issue with the 3.5mm adapter, but my voice could now be heard without having to yell at the bottom of the phone! The website is super clear to obtain a quote on your issue and the model and schedule an appointment, but if you're like me and need to ask for additional info Ed gets back to you super quick. The battery on my iPhone 6 was pooping out (power failures, not charging all the way, etc...) so I reached out to Ed and he installed a new battery, while doing a full diagnostic check up. As everyone has mentioned, the appointment was super quick (30 minutes), Ed was informative but didn't talk over your head, and the pricing was great. The only thing to knock, which isn't Ed's fault at all, are the location which can be a little....interesting shall we say and the doorbell system which is wonky. Ed fixed my iPhone SE after I accidentally flung it in the toilet. I thought it was beyond saving since I did all the wrong things such as powering it on after scooping it out of the water, taking it apart to try to fix it myself only to drop some pieces and cause further damage, and not calling Ed until several days later when corrosion had already set in. I went to Ed after another shop said they couldn't fix water damaged phones, and he fit me in the same day. His prices are VERY fair and I am very happy with his service. Note that this is not the best place for chit chat since Ed and his husband dedicate all their brainpower to fixing your phone! They work so very hard and even work after hours to help all of their customers get their phones back ASAP. So they may seem curt or appear grumpy, but if you want talk therapy you can go elsewhere. I went to the Cupertino first because it had more reviews, but they turned me away because the phone was bent in addition to the cracked screen. DO NOT get your phone fixed here. I brought my 6S in to have a cracked screen fixed. From the start, the person working there acted very annoyed to have to deal with customers and gave terse unhelpful answers. They charged more than was quoted on Yelp for a seemingly arbitrary reason--the LCD is bruised and can't be resold back to the screen maker, but refused to explain what that meant or show me the bruising. I asked to test out the replacement screen before agreeing to the work as they're often lower quality. She said I could look but DO NOT touch the test phone. The screen they installed sucked. The touch sensitivity was very bad - like using an Android phone from 5 years ago, the colors were off, and there was noticeable lag. Fortunately, I broke my screen again a few weeks later. I took it to iPlayNTalk iPhone Repair in the Westfield Mall. Their replacement screen is OEM quality, their service was friendly and helpful, and the technician let me test out a replacement screen beforehand. Update: I appreciate the thorough reply by the owner. However, if you look at other reviews, people have had one-star experiences as well. It seems like there's something wrong with this shop, whether its their ability to buy quality replacement parts or train employees to be good at customer service. Doesn't seem worth the hassle, just go somewhere else. read more

They were nice enough to take my repair request last minute which i truly appreciated because i was desperate on time due to a flight. My phone screen could not be repaired and the corrosion inside my phone was horrible. Bottom line, it could not be repaired. My gripe: As a customer that paid $50 only to get bad news, the least this company could have done is let me use the test screen that they were using for a couple minutes to back up precious photos taken while in Cuba (no wifi there) before reinstalling the defective screen. I lost precious photos because this company only gave me two options: 1: buy a new screen $150 for a corroded phone so would inevitably need to be replaced. Essentially, $150 for your photos 2: kick rocks. All they had to do was give me 10 minutes to back up family photos. I spent $50 for a failed repair and I walked out with nothing. The service was quick but ever since I've had my screen replaced, it's not as intuitive to touch. It glitched a couple times. They have you sign a waiver stating that any issues occurring with touch sensitivity or whatnot is not related and they are not liable. Seems too coincidental. In hindsight, I wish I upgraded to a better screen. I wasn't aware at first when I went in. The difference is significant. You can see and feel a difference in the quality of the standard screen and the default iPhone screen. Plus I wasn't fully aware of the polarization difference in an OEM screen. It was my fault for not doing the homework before getting it replaced but I was anxious to get my phone back to normal and I wish they pointed out the difference. read more

I've brought my phone here several times to get the screen fixed. Im an expert at dropping my phone and I have a good idea of what the repair entails. Every time I bring my phone here, technicians claim the LCD is messed up (it's not, the other place I took it to agreed with me) just to tack on another $10 to your price tag. Oh yea and their advertised prices don't include tax. That's another $6-7. Take into account that you'll be spending at least $10-15 more than the ad price. It's the same as everywhere else. This week I made the ill-fated decision of coming here to have my iPhone screen repaired which in the end costed me $560 for their services which ruined my phone... and a new phone. I think Ed (the business owner)'s condescending and arrogant response to my review speaks for itself. To make a long story short - I came here to have my iphone screen repaired Tuesday afternoon after reading the great reviews online and getting an appointment only 2 hours in advance. When I showed up my only real question was about the screen quality to which the technician replied "it's as close to OEM quality as you can get, nobody really notices the difference". She offered to show me the replacement screen in advance but I didn't see the point as I didn't have an OEM screen to compare it to. I was just excited to have my screen fixed and get on with my day. She casually handed me a sheet of paper to sign which mentioned that the replacement may look different... I figured no worries... this place has amazing reviews... I'm sure I can trust them.... HUGE MISTAKE. When I showed up to pick my phone up there was another woman there complaining about something to the technician and I didn't want to be rude and become the second guy standing there taking up more of their time so I glanced to make sure the screen was working, paid, and left. I then spent my night with my phone freezing once every 30 minutes or so, the taptic engine randomly going off, and wrapping my head around the dark green tint to the new screen.... not great, to say the least. I called back first thing in the morning explaining to Ed (the owner) that my phone had pretty much become an expensive paper weight since having them "repair" the screen and that I just wanted a refund along with my broken screen back to take elsewhere.. to which Ed literally bursted out laughing and explained that they didn't do refunds or exchanges. Review is for the business itself -- prompt, mostly transparent, and only took 25 minutes. If you have a cracked screen, here are your options. I figure I'd lay them out since I had the same questions this weekend after my significant other dropped my phone and cracked the screen. I have an iPhone 6 so the prices are based on that. Depending on your phone, cost may be more or less, or the option may not be available. 1. You can try to fix it yourself. You can get a spare part off Amazon or somewhere similar for $30-$40. A buddy did this and he said it took him about 2 hours to fix it. He said if he did it again, it'd take him maybe an hour since he has the program down now. I'm a DIY kind of guy but I didn't feel comfortable with the reviews on Amazon for replacement screens and wasn't sure if I'd need extra parts (to remove debris) or if my LCD was busted, which would require me to go further down the rabbit hole. Figure there was a strong chance costs could add up. 2. Try an independent phone repair shop like iPhone Repair SF. You'll get an aftermarket or OEM (original equipment manufacturer) screen and cost you in the $70-$80 range if it's just the screen and LCD is fine. Upside, you get someone who knows what they're doing, save time, and usually get some warranty. iPhone Repair SF has a 90-day warranty and are transparent on what you get. Downside, the screen has a slightly different tint and the screen will look black if viewed through a polarized lens. Compared to an Apple screen, the tint is a bit more orange, like night vision you'd get with an app like f.lux. This is very slight and most folks probably won't notice unless comparing with a manufacturer screen. If you're like me and aren't a photographer or graphic designer, this won't matter. One more note here to clarify the 'mostly transparent' above, iPhone Repair SF says in their terms to let them know if you use polarized lenses and they can use an OEM screen, which makes the screen a bit more visible (and costs a little more). When I asked the technician, he said the different isn't noticeable and recommended the aftermarket. When I got the phone back, the screen is totally black when viewed with my polarized sunglasses. Kind of a bummer but that's the price you pay I suppose. 3. Go to the Apple store and pay $130+ (if you don't have Apple Care) for the fix. I didn't research this option real hard because the high price tag, plus the probability of being without my phone for a few days, turned me off. That said, phone will likely be as good as new if you go with this option. Overall, independent shop offered the best trade offs on price, speed, and quality. I'll keep my extra $50+ from going to the Apple store and not be able view my phone through my sunglasses. Others might feel differently. I've only had the phone for a day and a few folks mentioned their phone starts to spaz out or fall apart for a few months, so we'll see how I feel in 6 months. For now, I think I made the right decision. read more
