    Hainanese chicken
    Alex C.

Got the full Hainanese chicken for takeout here for around $35. Would definitely recommend it. It's really flavorful and juicy but not overly salty and the chicken is deboned and not too fatty. Also comes with three delicious sauces (sweet & sour, soy, ginger) Note: This restaurant is a food court stall located in The Crystal Mall (near the back).

Always delicious and never disappoints. The new version of Nasi Lemak has blue rice! Penang Fried kueh teauw hits the spot every time. Located inside Crystal Mall food court so seating can be tricky during rush hour.

Amazing find in burnaby crystal mall! I wanted to try something different so i thought why not Malaysian Cuisine. For food court standards, there are above average in quality and quantity. Went with the Laksa Noodle soup and chicken chop Combo. The Laksa flavours are there. Soup was smooth and silky. As a personal preference, they could give it a more intense flavour...but as it is, its still good. Nice, invigorating soup on a rainy day. Definitely cleared the sinuses and warmed the soul. The tofu puffs were also nicely cooked. They were able to absorb the laksa curry flavours but still maintained a nice crunch to the skin. The chicken chop was awesome. Nicely deep fried with an extra crispy skin and juicy and moist meat. Boneless and nicely arranged. Can't ask for anymore. Simply delicious. The legendary chinese 5 spices very aromatic. Each and every bite size piece was coated and cooked to perfection. They also give you a buzzer while you wait. I waited probably 5 mins, then order came. What a meal. So simple yet, sophisticated in flavours Also very affordable and open till 7pm nightly...the staff very attentive and accommodating. Service is amazing. Cheers! Happy eating!

Good food here, and no line here on a busy Christmas Even lunch in 2022. It was a 10 minute wait for one dish. They have buzzers, and our food came out faster than estimated. * Roti Prata w/ Curry Chicken ($12.95) - 4 stars I enjoyed this! The roti was buttery and flaky. Curry was good, low/medium spicy. Chicken had some bones/fat in it, FYI, I didn't mind but some of my friends wished for just regular chicken meat.

Chicken Rice & Bak Ku Teh
    Zach T.

The chicken is flavorful and soft. It is also boneless and comes with a decent portion. The chicken is served cold. The rice for the chicken rice is a little bland and would taste better with the soy sauce on it. The soup for the chicken rice is a little sour. The chicken rice also comes with pickles instead of cucumbers which is weird. Overall, the chicken rice is still delicious. As for the bak ku teh, it comes with a bowl of rice and a bowl of herbal broth with pork. Since I did not have that, I would not comment on it. The store is located in Crystal Mall food court with lots of other stalls as well. Generally, the food court seems clean. The store also accepts credit cards among various other payment methods.

Was looking for cheaper Malay/Singaporean cuisine since a Nasi Lemak for some reason costs over $16 for very simple ingredients. I'm not sure if this Crystal Mall food court Ipoh is related to the restaurant called Ipoh in Marpole. I did expect quality to be a little worse since it is cheaper and is in a food court. We ordered Nasi Lemak and Fried Kuay Teow. Nasi Lemak - rice definitely isn't very coconut-y. The sambal was tasty but lacking spiciness. The chicken wing was fried really nice and light - very juicy. The best Nasi Lemak I've had is from Shiok. Fried Kuay Teow - this is the first time I've had Malaysian kuay teow since I don't really like the singporean version. I really like this style and it resembles Hong Kong style fried flat rice noodles. It had prawns, clams (although very flavorless clams), eggs, chinese sausage, chives and bean sprouts. It was ok but missing the wok hei (high stiry fry heat). It satisfies my cravings but something is missing from each dish. For the pricing, that is what you get.

Itried their "Roti Prata with Curry Chicken" special meal ($13.75). What they served was some kind of roti, but it certainly wasn't Malaysian style roti. Sometimes it's called roti canai, or in Singaporean cuisine it's called roti paratha. In fact, the roti looked suspiciously like Indian style roti you can get raw in the frozen food section of Superstore. You can sit pretty much anywhere in Crystal Mall while waiting for your order because they give you a beeper that sounds an alarm when your order is ready.

Not sure if I got the wrong dish from IPOH, but I was quite disappointed with the main I ordered. I got the curry beef brisket with rice as well as an order of Malay style chicken wings. The curry brisket was quite cheap, priced at $12.25. Unfortunately the quality also reflected it. First off, every piece of beef was cold in the centre, which made me suspect they have a pot of beef in the fridge and just toss a few chunks in the curry when an order comes in. Sadly they didn't warm it up enough. Secondly, the curry sauce was just lukewarm and quite bland. I don't taste any of the spices, which is quite disappointing since they boosted to be authentic Malaysian food. On top of the curry beef, there were also carrots and potato chunks. The chicken wings in comparison was much better. It was deep fried properly with a crispy skin. The chicken wings were also seasoned perfectly, it was juicy with every bite. Definitely will order it again. Unlike some of the food court stalls, Ipoh gives you a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready, so you don't have to stand and wait for your order. It took around 15 minutes for us to get our order.

I've been here for twice already and the food was impressive in my opinion. Their Chicken and Laksa Combo ($9.50) was big and filling. Laksa didn't have much toppings, however noodles and soup were tasty. Chicken was rather lukewarm; however the portion and taste were great. I think the whole combo would be TOO big for one person. I didn't have to go all the way to Hawkers Delight for Laksa ,and Ipoh is definetely closer distance from my home. I also tried Malaysian wings($5.99) earlier for dinner. Chicken wings were fresh and crispy. My only gripe was staff gave me few napkins after ordering wings. I mean you get all messy and greasy after eating and why giving so less? Anyways I totally recommend Ipoh for some Laksa and the rest of the food. Char Kway Teow looked quite yummy and I want to try it next time.

Put some respect on Ipoh's name. It's a holy establishment in the most dilapidated mall... to all those who gave this place 3 stars or less FOH. You come here for one reason and one reason only, to wait 15+ min for the fried kway teow with the creamy-egg gravy. If you ever enjoyed Chinese peaches and cream corn soup then you will enjoy this overly starchy sauced fried noodle. The added pickled jalapeños just takes it over the edge. All the weird texture matched with the wok flame flavour.... makes sense just like when Jay Z did that weird mashup with Linkin Park. Side note, there's always this older Asian couple with 3+ heavy bags of grocery and like 5 take out boxes occupying the handicap table. Say hi to them when you see them. They a hoot.

    Chicken Laksa

This update is really just to add my collection of pictures from Ipoh Bean Sprout Chicken in Crystal Mall. Now I haven't been to Crystal Mall since pre-covid so I'm not 100% which stalls are still opened.. but I'm hoping this one still is, as it is one of my favourites. As you can see from my pictures, I've had their Chicken Laksa numerous times (each picture is a separate visit). I love noodle lifting their laksa as they give a generous amount of noodles, and a mix of the yellow noodle and vermicelli noodle. I know a lot of different laksa spots that don't have that combination, and only one kind of noodle. I absolutely love the broth. And as mentioned in my previous review, it's the perfect amount of flavour and spiciness. And there is a good portion of quality chicken. May be awhile before I go back to Crystal Mall, but certainly give them a try if you're there!

This food court stall is amazing. I have never seen so much variety and flavour in a food court. I come almost every other week to try something new. It's like I'm in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore again.

If you are looking for good Singaporean/Malaysian food, this is definitely a place to try! The taste is pretty authentic, portions are generous filled with ingredients (especially compared to a couple of other local Singaporean restaurants I've been to..) and price is affordable! The menu is filled with so many different options! My faves so far are: *Ipoh Hor Fun: flat rice noodles served in a delicious eggy soupy base. Just from the picture, it's easy to see that it's filled with so many ingredients like prawn, fish cake, veggies and pork. If you like a little bit of spice, it also comes with cut green chilli which goes really well with this dish. *Char Keoy Teow: definitely a signature Singapore dish done right! Yummy, and sprinkled with numerous prawns and Chinese sausages I've also tried the Penang Prawn Mee today, which I also enjoyed! It comes with a mix of yellow noodle and vermicelli which is a combo I really like. The soup was decent, but a little bit on the oily side. It doesn't quite hit my list of faves, but is something I would consider ordering again :)

Penang char kway teow. Has the wok fried smell but a tad too salty.

When we walked in, we saw that nearly every table had the Boneless Hainanese Chicken. After tasting it, we understood the hype. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavour. Paired with the Steamed Yellow Chicken Rice, it was the best part of our meal. The rice was fragrant and well-seasoned, making the dish even better. If you try just one dish here, go for the Hainanese chicken with yellow rice. We also tried the Satay, Roti Canai, and Char Kuey Teow. The Roti Canai was nicely flaky and served with a flavourful curry dipping sauce, making it a great appetizer to share. The Char Kuey Teow had a satisfying wok aroma and generous ingredients, delivering the comforting flavours we were looking for. The Satay was enjoyable, though not as memorable as the chicken and rice. Overall, Green & Oak delivered one of the most enjoyable Malaysian meals we have had in Burnaby.
