This is a small, tight space with a food court style layout where you walk up to the counter to order. It is cash only, unless you have a Canadian debit card. Their food items were mainly spicy and not very kid friendly. In fact, the family at the table next to us was complaining in Chinese Cantonese about how spicy everything was, even though they had requested mild to no spice. While the flavors were strong, the popular Hainan chicken was just okay, it was nice that it was boneless, but we have definitely had better elsewhere. ​There are no bathrooms available for customers. The seating is very limited inside, there are only 4 tables (two that seat two people and two that seat four) along with a few counter spots. ​Sadly, we won't be coming back. Got their laksa for takeout and was very impressed! The meal was filled with lots of toppings and despite being a takeout order, the rice noodles kept the perfect texture and were not soggy at all due to the packaging being separate. I personally found the soup to be a little too salty for me, but it was definitely flavourful and still an enjoyable meal :) read more

Shoutout to this hometown hawker-esque restaurant. Heads up, cash or debit only! While portions are HUGE, the quality of the food itself did not disappoint. Although we didn't order their favorites, I was still extremely pleased at how they preserved authenticity and the flavor profiles. haven't been to this singapore/malaysian restaurant in a hot minute, this used to be one of our go to little hole-in-the-walls. miss the lady who used to run the front, and the chef/owner was off today, which might explain a few things. voted #2 in georgia straight's golden plates 2024 for cheap eats, with most dishes priced at $13.95. the lamb curry rice is $18.95, beef curry noodle and nasi lemak is $14.50, and beef curry rice is $16.50. we showed up at 6:48 pm on a saturday and i totally forgot they only accept cash or debit. located at 4127 main street, near east king ed, street parking available. closed on sundays. i've tried most everything on the menu over the years, and often get the roti prata, sayur lodeh bee hoon, or laksa. this time, we ordered the fried kuey teow with chicken, hainanese chicken rice, and the mee pok. got everything to go, as the venue is tiny. the char kuey teow is usually the star, wide rice noodles stir fried with soy sauce, bean sprouts, egg, and a bit of heat, meant to be smoky and slightly caramelized from high heat wok cooking. this time around, it was missing the wok hay, no smokiness, no magic. the flavours just didn't hit like they used to, and portions seemed smaller. the hainanese chicken rice came with poached chicken and rice cooked in fragrant broth. the meat was fine, but lacked the silky, tender bite we were hoping for, and the rice could've used more seasoning. did they ever serve the ginger and scallion oil, and chilli, or am i getting this mixed up with another place? the mee pok, flat egg noodles tossed in a savoury sauce, served with fish cake, prawn, bean sprouts and ground pork, had decent texture, but overall felt a bit muted, like it was missing that punch of umami and vinegar that usually makes it sing. still, there's something endearing about this tiny spot, faded food photos on bright yellow walls, plastic plants, laminated menus taped up wherever there's space, and a fridge full of canned drinks humming away in the corner. it's the kind of place that feels like it hasn't changed in years, and we kinda hope it never does. fingers crossed it was just an off night, we're still cheering them on. read more

I went to this restaurant for lunch on August 13, 2025. It was my first time there and I was looking for a quick, filling, and reasonably priced lunch. This restaurant fits the bill. I ordered the Laksa and it did not disappoint. It was ready 7 minutes after I placed the order. The soup base was creamy and the bowl was full of ingredients. I was particularly impressed by the freshness of the prawns. The overall dish was hot, but the chicken was cold. Some people might like it cold but I like everything piping hot. This was the only criticism I have of the dish. However, priced at $13.95, this is definitely good value that I cannot find anywhere else in Vancouver. There are only a few tables for sitting, but people finish their meals quickly and leave, so there were always seats available while I was in the restaurant. As a Southeast Asian food lover, I have been searching for the authentic taste in Vancouver. I heard about this small bistro on the Main St and I felt excited to give it a try. It was not hard to find the shop and there are plenty of street parking nearby. The moment I entered the shop, the smell was so familiar and my nose told me this is authentic. There were many picture of their dishes posted on the wall. This is really great for first time customers. I ordered Nasi Lemak as it is a signature dish of Malaysian cuisine. The rice with rich flavour of coconut, the fried chicken pieces were nicely done without over cooked and perfect to eat with the sauce. It was wonderful! I would appreciate if they can add some dried small fishes to the dish. I asked the server for recommendations and she also recommended chicken rice and mie goreng (fried noodle). Two things I will order here when I want a taste of Singapore food are the fried kway teow and vegetable fritters. On my last visit, the staff asked if I wanted the Singapore style with lup cheong (Chinese sausage) or just with chicken (not sure what version that is). I guess now they try to differentiate the different types of fried kway teow. Items I don't really like on the menu are the bak Kut teh and Mee rebus. They are not what I'm used to back in Singapore. Like what people have been saying. Parking is horrible in this area. It is smaller place so, it's easy to miss if you're driving at night. They have a good selection on their menu. My last review was a year ago and since then I am thrilled to say I've been to Hawkers and have ordered from Hawkers multiple times and it's always SO DELICIOUS! Tonight we ordered - Mee Pok - noodles with a pork sauce, pork cutlets, fish cakes and prawns and it was so tasty, flavour on point! We got veggie fritters which were sizeable for $2 and came with a vinegar based dipping sauce. We also got spring roles as well which were piping and so flavourful. A MUST that we always get is the Roti Prata - delicious flakey thin dough dipped in a spicy-ish coconut curry sauce of sorts. Phenomenal food and perfect for a cold winters night! Hands down, I think this was my favorite place to eat at while visiting Vancouver. I don't get Singaporean / Malaysian food often, but when I do it is always a treat! I honestly don't remember how I stumbled across this place, but my mom's friend sent her a food article and this place came up as a spot with delicious food and cheap prices. We happened to be staying near this restaurant, so after walking around quite a bit, we finally had a chance to sit down and enjoy our meal. Between my mom, sister and I , we shared the laksa, char kway teow, and hainan chicken. With tax, everything came out to be about $42 CAD. They have counter service so you order there, then grab an available table. When your number is called, you pick up your food via lunch tray style along with the rest of your utensils / sharing bowls / water cups. Portion sizes are so worth it. We thought we wouldn't finish everything, but we did after all the exploring during the day! I loved the laksa and char kway teow the most. The Hainan chicken wasn't bad either, but I feel that dish is more common to find vs the other two. We left stuffed and satisfied. To be honest I wouldn't have minded coming a second time to try the dishes we didn't get to have hahah. If I am remembering correctly, they are cash only! Have been going to Hawkers for a long time but kinda forgot about this place after moving further from the Main Street area. Was around the neighbourhood running errands and decided to order some take out. This is a beloved hole in the wall Malaysian joint that would be similar to a Hawker stall in Asia. Food is made fresh, fast, and furious with good portion sizes and affordable prices. Today, ordered the Laksa, Roti pratha, Hainese chicken with rice, and Fried Kuey Teow (spicy). Reheated the large single roti in the toaster over and it came out warm and flakey. The curry dipping sauce was wonderful and for $3.50, it is a solid deal. Laksa is filling, full of seafood, and the soup base is rich, creamy, and flavourful. This has always been one of my go-to dishes as it can be hard to find a good laksa in the city. Hainese chicken with rice is also one of my favourites here. It still doesn't disappoint with tender juicy chicken, flavourful chicken scented rice, and a nice chili dipping sauce. The Fried Kuey Teow with chicken that I ordered spicy but couldn't really taste the spice. However, it is a nice dish filled with lots of chicken and toppings. A tad oily but typical of a rice noodle stir fry dish. Order came out to be $44.50, which could easily feed 3 people. There's a reason why this gem continues to be beloved in the city! read more

Ordered fried kuey teow spicy noodles and despite asking for just chicken, it was either breast chicken that had gone bad or worse they made it with pork so I removed the meat as I did not care for it. The flavor of the noodles was good. The people taking the order continued to advise it was self service and beware they only take cash or debit card. I know it's authentic and focused on food rather than anything else as this is a hole in the wall but to not even give you cutlery/chopsticks when they call your number, it gives another meaning to self serve. It is priced lower than other places but guess you get what you pay for. It was not clean either. I could not be bothered to question the chicken as considering how my order was taken, I suspect I knew the type of response if I complained about the quality of the chicken. Would think twice before I return back as yes like to support smaller places that are legit, but there is something to be said about the apathy and the lack of service. read more

Either their vegan options have changed or they previously gave me bad information. I visited for lunch, hoping to get their Mee Goreng without egg, but apparently their noodles have egg even though the menu says wheat noodles are used. I was told that the only main dishes they could do vegan are the Mee Siam and the Vegetable Curry. I got the Mee Siam ($13.50) and added some greens (+$1) to round out the dish, which was ready in under 10 minutes. The portion was very large, coming with a soupy, somewhat sweet, tamarind & sweet potato sauce, with lots of thin vermicelli, tons of tofu (mostly the small cubes, but also tofu puffs, plenty of bok choy, bean sprout and garnishes (peanuts, green onion, lime). Really fantastic flavours and a well-integrated dish. I don't have enough experience with the dish to know how authentic it is, but it struck me as fairly authentic. The Hainanese chicken leg was right, the rice was perfect. Had the roti - more of the Indian party's style than canal with the curry dipping sauce. Bunch of Indonesian dishes also, wasn't clear if they no longer sell satay or sold out. The mee goreng and laksa looked and smelled right. Will try next time. Small and busy spot with everyone working at break neck speed in the back. Food comes out fast and looks good for the dine in clients but I opted for take out. Had the Hainan Chicken, it was moist and tender. Disappointing with the rice, as it didn't even taste or look like it had been cooked the Hainese way. Theres always a few hidden gems around our neighborhood yet to be discovered From the moment I was in the restaurant to the moment I left, theres non-stop of customers coming in and out, and that has sure proven the popularity of this small business. They have a pretty large menu and it took me forever to be able to pick what I want to eat! Laksa is their most popular item on the menu, so we have to give it a try. I really like how subtle the coconut milk is but the whole dish is still very flavorful. They also put a generous among of ingredients in it. The nasi goreng and the fried kuey was also very delicious. However my favorite would have to be the Hainanese chicken rice. The chicken was so tender and soft. The rice to me is definitely the star of the whole dish. It's so flavorful but light at the same time! Sometimes the fragrant rice tends to feel a bit oily, but it is not the case here at all. My go to Malay place in town. The laksa broth is full of flavor, heated to just the right temperature, fresh shrimp, along with a perfectly soaked fried tofu. This dish is like a drug - and without a doubt my cravings would come back every two weeks. The kway teow is equally as good. The "wok hei" is perfect - just the right amount of heat, soy, bursting with flavors for every chewy bite. We decided to finally try this place for dinner. It was ready relatively fast. The mee goreng was spicy but not much other flavour. I've definitely had better. The hainanese chicken was not very good. For $13.50, I would expect more than 4 pieces of Chicken. The rice had no flavour so I suspect it was plain rice. This dish was a disappointment because the chicken was not smooth and tasted like regular chicken. Way overpriced for what we gots. The only dish that was decent was the fried kuey teow . Came here after hearing many recommendations and having it on my to try list for years and we were not disappointed with the food or the prices! Very small place with not a huge menu but the people that work there are really nice and the food is authentic! We got the hainanese chicken rice, which was really flavourful, a large portion and had a good amount of chicken as well! I tried out the mee pok with minced pork sauce, some protein (shrimp, pork and fish cake) and lots of noodles, for the first time and although it looked really heavy, but since the portion was so large, when you mixed everything in, it wasnt overly salty or oily! I really liked the noodle they used too! Next we got the fried kwey teow which was rice noodles wok fried with egg, fish cake, chicken and shrimp. They were quite generous with the amount of size of this dish and it was dang tasty too! My family also loved the laksa which was the perfect blend of spicy and coconut. The noodles were the rice noodles (thick) which I don't love but I believe you can choose to change the noodle if requested. I liked that they also gave a good amount of chicken and prawn on top as well. We topped off the meal with their vegetable fritters which were a GREAT price for some huge sized fried vegetable balls! Overall, Hawkers Delight has it all! Food that is really yummy, large portions for the price and friendly service. I used to come to Hawkers all the time. When I was a starving student, and even up until I first got married, Hawkers definitely offered a lot of bang for the buck. In those days, two people could get stuffed with two dishes and a side for about $15. One could overlook the oiliness of the food and the lack of seating at that price. But now that prices have crept up a bit, I'd rather pay an extra $10-20 to avoid waiting up to 25 minutes for a seat and getting jostled around by other patrons once I got seated. The food is as oily as ever, the fritters are cold and service is glacially slow. If you are on a budget, Hawkers is tough to beat. But, if you can afford it, look elsewhere. read more
