I debated writing this post for 3 weeks. But I think all women deserve to be warned. I'll start by saying the front desk and the manager of the clinic are both kind. I would caution and honestly not recommend any woman come to Ballard IRG for massage with the current therapist -R.Z. I already spoke to mgmt about this after my last and final appt. But the therapist does weird things, things after hundreds of massages I've never experienced. He doesn't listen, he doesn't ask for consent, he doesn't stop when you say you're in pain and I should have never returned after my second visit, I honestly dreaded my third visit as he does weird things. But my third and final visit was the worst. Without going into details, I left in pain and feeling mentally awful. I will just say I would never feel comfortable recommending another woman go here. There are a million other massage therapists in Seattle. Please think of going elsewhere to save yourself from a really awful experience. Robe is great at reducing pain with massage therapy, and will usually send you home with some exercises to extend relief. He also helps educate patients about interrelated muscle groups and continues his own education through clinics. read more

I visited the Colby Ave IRG office in north Everett and worked with Steve Yuasa to stop some shoulder pain that'd been bothering me for approx a month following a dismount from a tall tow vehicle that went awry. The exercises he worked with me were perfect in the amount of repetitions and strain to rehab my achy shoulder. He was patient, helpful, watchful and kind as we spent several visits in slowly (but surely!) getting my shoulder back into shape. I found the entire staff to carry these same characteristics and would vociferously recommend their services to any family member, friend or acquaintance to avail themselves of their services. IRG in Ballard is a great facility! Treatment I've received has been very beneficial! Dr. Rosemary Padilla, PT is terrific!

Vicky cancelled my appointments with less than 3 hours notice twice in 3 months and when she did honor the appointments, she took me late every time except once. At the last appointment that she didn't cancel, she took me 15 minutes late. She only spends 30 minutes with you although you're paying for an hour, then she hands you off to someone who shows you exercises to do while you're there. This is frustrating given the prominent sign saying that if you cancel on short notice, you'll be charged $50. But when they cancel with almost no notice, you're just out of luck. There are plenty of good PTs out there. I'm off to make an appointment with one who I hope will respect my time and desire to address my injury promptly. read more

Rosemary Padilla has been very helpful in addressing my issues with balance and also hand soreness. I have been in PT at UW and so I was a bit spoiled. However, this treatment has been equally professional and respectful. read more

Dr. Trevor Chenowth was ok for my PT after my foot therapy (I saw him from February - July/August) but I wasn't making much progress. I found better PT for my foot elsewhere, where my walking and swelling significantly has gone down in just 1 month after working with my new PT office. The cancelation and billing are issues, as others have noted. I'm still getting late fee charge when they screwed up the appointments. Dr. Chenowth seems much more interested in hand therapy, which is fine, but then say you don't have the expertise in that area and don't make me just walk back and forth, which was a waste of time. He also told me that he hates working on feet. I won't be going back, there are more holistic PT's out there IMHO, as someone who has gone to several PT's in the past as a marathon runner and rock climber. read more

I worked with Rachel for several months after my doctor recommended IRG. Rachel was incredibly helpful reducing my lingering symptoms from a car accident and regaining much of my functionality and strength. She was also very genuine and caring. I am glad that I went here for treatment. On another note, I want to comment that my treatment was temporarily disrupted due to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in March/April (like with every business at that time). When IRG reopened I was very pleased with the safety protocols in place. I felt that they were very clean and hygienic and I did not feel in danger at all while continuing my therapy. read more

After going to multiple physical therapy clinic's in the area over the last two years with poor results, when I was recommended to try SCSM my expectation's weren't too high. But, after just my first appointment, I was pleasantly excited to begin working with Kelly & her staff here. Kelly really, truly, has a special talent for this sort of thing. She is the first person that was able to clearly and easily understand exactly what kind of pain I was having and why. She always listens, welcomes my feedback, and has helped me better understand the way my body works and moves. I understand exactly why she was hard to get an appointment with- because someone as dedicated and educated as her is hard to come by. She was knowledgeable about my "rare" disease, and as I am someone who will need long-term occupational and physical therapy, I'm glad to have finally found THE place. I've seen a few other practitioners here when she has been out-of-town and they have also been wonderful. The entire staff is warm, welcoming, and truly care about helping people function and feel better. read more

When I came to SCFSM, I had just had several major surgeries, affecting major muscle groups. I had a prescription for physical therapy in hand from my doctor, but was unsure where to go. I had been curious about the SCFSM for some time, having passed by when going to Portage Bay or Stone Gardens, so decided to call one day. After a few conversations, I was very happy when I was able to see them for a period of several months, all covered by my insurance (with a small adjustment to original prescription from PT to OT - occupational therapy). Kelly and her team, Barb in particular, are incredibly knowledgable, professional and compassionate. I wasn't thrilled to have gone through surgery, but I know I had a much better recovery with full range of motion after my experience with SCFSM. In fact, I learned so much that I am still practicing many of the exercises and techniques and am feeling flexible, pain free and unhindered (I don't even think about the affected areas anymore). The only drawback is their popularity and lack of immediate openings - it is sometimes hard to get in. If you are interested, I do recommend you persevere and get scheduled. It's worth it. read more

I decided to try this clinic after a review in the Seattle Times magazine. My initial complaint was limited mobility in my shoulder. I have been seeing Rachel Byrne. Over the past year my shoulder mobility has improved 95% Her approach has been whole body and we are now addressing some pelvic and leg issues. She has a treasure trove of treatment modalities and mixes and matches according to symptoms presented. A BIG shout out to Barb who does gyro tonics in the clinic. I hesitate to let this secret out, as I already have to book a month in advance! It is worth the hour drive for me, and with major problems solved I will continue to go to work toward mech fine tuning and maintaining flexiblilty. read more

Quite possibly the best PT/OT clinic in Seattle and I'm not sure it's close. I was originally referred here for physical therapy after an ankle operation and have since also began utilizing their occupational therapy services. The PT/OT therapists, while excellent on their own, also do a great job of working together to provide holistic treatment strategies for their patients outside of simply treating acute issues. Since finding this clinic my ankle injury has healed and I have seen improvements across the board in my body's mobility and alignment. Their entire staff of therapists is extremely knowledgeable and seem to be respected leaders within the industry. Hope this clinic is around for good because IRG has ruined traditional PT clinics for me! read more

I am a 70 year old male with back issues and I attended the Tuesday night yoga class for strength improvement offered by Center for Structural Medicine in Ballard. I have some lower back pain and some "rounding" of my shoulders. The class felt very comfortable and I was confident especially knowing that the instructor was also a licensed Occupational Therapist. I also went to a MELT (Myofascial Energetic Length Technique) class offered by The Center and was equally pleased. After being in the class and lying on my back on the foam roller doing the recommended exercises my back felt so much better. A roller is not an expensive item to purchase for performing the exercises at home. Both classes were very helpful. read more

My partner and I were in Seattle for a few weeks and signed up at the last minute for the Tuesday night yoga class for strength offered by the Clinic Director. We were very happy with the classes ( we took 2 )which were a good mix of traditional yoga for stretching and flexibility and some meaningful help with mindfulness on the mat and intentional living. The instructor was very knowledgeable and skilled . The clinic offers a wide range of very interesting and forward thinking treatment protocols and we did a workshop later in the week which focused on using a foam roller to promote physical well being ..it was also really good and well taught. read more

I was referred to see Kelly at Structural Medicine in 2011 after being diagnosed with TOS (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome), and just prior to undergoing a pretty big surgery. I've been seeing Kelly for well over a year now and shes seen me through 3 surgeries. If I had found her years earlier, I most probably would have avoided surgery. Yes, she's that good. I'm thankful to have found her, despite it happening 5yrs after TOS started. With regular PT, I only had a temporary relief of symptoms for a few days. With Kelly, I am not only having a relief of symptoms, but my posture has improved. I have many more days without pain too and for someone who has lived with pain, almost daily, since 2006, that's unbelievable. Kelly has many clients who have TOS and I feel I'm in the only place in Seattle where someone not only understands, but acknowledges what I am dealing with. She is a great listener, offers suggestions, advises me and explains things easily. She truly is the most wonderful practitioner I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She works with a range of conditions, injuries but she really is the center of excellence when it comes to nerve compression. As well as other practitioners in the center, there's Barbara who does gyrotonics who's just lovely. The aim of this center is to improve function, reduce pain and symptoms and live your life again. For me it's a slow process and know I'm in for the long haul. I'm getting there, but what a privilege to be cared for by people at the top of their game. Her staff are all wonderful, supportive, caring people who just so happen to be women. I walk through the doors and it's like being at home. read more

I had excellent care at this place, until a number of their staff quit, seemingly all at the same time. Not sure the reason for the group departure. The problem I had was the billing. They were very unresponsive, made an error that took months for them to clear up, even after they told me they had resolved it, and then they neglected to send me any more bills when I had asked for final resolution. But, they did manage to send my account to collections. The billing person was rude when I tried to resolve with her. So...seems like they have some staffing issues, and either an overworked billing department, or very disorganized. They claim that they mailed several bills, but none ever arrived. I could understand one going missing in the mail, but several?? Not likely. I would not go there again due to the frustration with the billing situation. read more

This place is wack. The staff there had attitudes and seemed really stuck up. Like, I had a lady tell me to take my tea outside because it wasn't in the right kind of cup or something and then I had to cancel one of my appointments and the lady said they wouldn't charge me a cancellation fee. One YEAR later I had to call back because they were sending my cancellation fee to collections?! The lady was very rude to me and told me that it was very apparrent what happenned according to the notes in the computer and that obviously I just No-showed for my appointment, blah blah blah. So I finally said fine I will pay the stupid fee and then she hung up on me! I just want to say that this place has poor customer service, the staff is rude and this comes from someone who has worked in the healthcare field for almost 15 years. I hope you find another place to go besides this one. read more

I have been here on several occasions over a 3 year time span and have felt like a million dollars every time I left. Rachel is amazing. If I took better care of my body I'd be fine, however with my golf, pickleball, biking & gym activities, things get out of whack from time to time. The Bowen therapy that I get done a few times a year is amazing. I am actually flying up from So. Cal to get some Bowen work done on my lower back. I've tried a few practitioners down here but nothing compares to IRG. read more

So the work they do there is amazing. But don't ever ever have an emergency issue. They can't get anyone in short notice unless your schedule is completely open. Tried to get in short notice w limited availability, they just say sorry! Can't get u in. Ridiculous! No referral for someone who has been a long time client who has given them tons of money. As a provider myself, I def try to accommodate my patients when they can't come in due to their schedules. Especially if it was an emergency and the patient is in pain! They need to work on making emergency time for their patients, and possibly changing their policy on emergencies in regards to their existing patients. That's my only gripe. I still refer my patient there. Like I said, their work is superb so I guess that's why I have a hard time getting in. Only wish there availability was more open to clients who work full time who cannot come in during regular business hours on the regular for treatment. Maybe considering opening later in the evenings. I know some medical practices that offer after hour time for those who cannot come in during the normal mon-fri 9-4...just say'n.... read more

S C S M was recommended by my physician who identified my condition as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which can be difficult. This was after 18 months of frustration in seeking physicians and physical therapists looking for relief from pain. The OT, Kelly Clancy, has additional training in Bowen therapy and structural therapy which has complimented her traditional OT therapy. The office has a very pleasant atmosphere and the entire staff is helpful. I have had a very positive experience with this clinic and I can highly recommend them. read more

My physician/surgeon recommended Karen Sziel, Physical Therapist, as someone to assess and treat my ongoing hand issues. I have been 3 times so far and am pleased with her willingness to listen and try various modalities to get to the core of my symptoms. All the staff have been very comfortable to work with. The only "complaint" I have is the distance from my home. But I am learning different routes and the timing of my travel. read more

Went in for a knee problem for which my doctor had previously diagnosed untreatable. After about five treatments here I had essentially no more symptoms of what I'd been feeling in my knee for most of my life. Couldn't be happier with how I was treated, I would absolutely recommend getting work done here. Excellent customer service and general atmosphere. read more
