I thought I had been everywhere in Key West, but I fear that is an impossible goal. Luckily, I wasn't missing anything. Typical Key West bar with live music in the back and the bar in the front. It was a little loud and pretty smoky in there, neither of which I am a fan. The servers seemed either preoccupied of aloof or unconcerned or all of the above. It was hard to get their attention and get beer or water refills. I was drinking Jai Alai and although it was good, it just didn't taste very fresh. I also had a Redhook IPA and it tasted a little fresher. They had about 10 or 12 beers on draft, but none were really that great. I could find pretty much all of them at any other bar in Key West. The food was pretty horrible. I chose the Reuben sandwich, and I think it was store bought, pre-sliced meat, with canned sauerkraut and very greasy bread. The sandwich dripped with grease. I didn't mind at the time because I was starving and needed a little something to soak up some alcohol, but it wasn't very good. The fries were definitely frozen and cost $2 extra over the bag of chips. I certainly wont be back here. Plenty of other places with better food and equal beer selection. read more

This place is a great bar if you like that sort of thing lol If you're in key west then most likely you will be going to a bar. This would probably be a good pick. It's got live music. Tons of beer to select from. In a area where it's popular and easy to get to. I unfortunately am not a big drinker or a big guy. I also don't enjoy being smushed in a crowd and having sweaty man shoulders rub on my face. That's what happens when you try to walk in and out of this place on a busy night. It's fun...but annoying. Irish Kevin's is, by far, my favorite bar in Key West. Actually, no, it's not. It's my favorite bar in the world. It's impossible to not have a great time at Irish Kevin's. The key here is the entertainment- it cannot be beat. The entertainers (especially NY Pauly) really get the crowd involved in the performance. This isn't one of those bars where the act goes on stage, does their set while looking like they are bored out of their minds, just waiting for their break to go backstage and pound shots. The entertainers at Irish Kevin's seem to love what they do, and I like that. A lot. Now, just as a disclaimer: this is not, i repeat NOT, a place to bring small children, your sweet old granny, your conservative Irish Catholic in-laws, or pretty much anyone who is easily offended. I've been coming to Irish Kevin's since the week of my 21st birthday many years ago. I've always held it as one of my favorite bars in the world. Even though I'm not originally from there, I am undoubtedly a Texan. And Irish Kevin's is right up my alley because of the available live music all day, everyday. I could spend (and have spent) several lazy Wednesdays at 1 PM sippin' whatever beer I felt like and listening to some guy with an old shirt and a light sunburn sing whatever Johnny Cash song he felt was the most September melody in his repertoire. I have never eaten there. I only drink and enjoy tunes every time I come into Key West, which isn't even close enough to how much I should be coming into town. It can get a little loud there, but all the best bars do as well. And as that one old Jewish guy once said, "If it's too loud, you're too old." Come to Irish Kevin's with your friends you want to get closer to, get a few cheap bottles or pints, sing along to whatever song is playing, and thank the good Lord that today is another day you're above ground. If you hear someone yelling at you across a PA system while you walk, stumble, or craw your way down duval street its coming from the band at this place. I like it. it ads to the flare of Key West. Its a hardcore party place. Not quite a "must" for the craw. But still somewhere you should see or hear once. The drinks are a bit pricey. but its a island folks. This is a great place to be social and let your inner party animal loose! My first night in KW I got in around 11pm. I walked down KW and could hear this place for blocks. Then I got near the place and was amazed to see a woman nearly passed out in front of the place while it was packed and everyone was drunk off their ass and partying hard. Its great for just that, and only that. Partying and drinking hard. Expect only that and you LOVE this place! P.S. Right before I submit this review Yelp asks if they have parking and what kind...LMAO its key west. theres no damn parking except at the tow truck lot. And dont drive after you've been out in kew west no matter what time it is. Get a pink cab, or walk. Be a smart drunk and you'll live to drink another drink. Excellent, amazing, outstanding, incredible vibe. I visited Key West for a day-trip with two friends, and as the sun set and night had fallen, we decided to hop from establishment to establishment along Duvall St. Of course, security was checking identification at the door as this was a busy Saturday night on Duvall Street; the security staff were friendly and checked us in very speedily - its kind of a pain to be held up at the entrance of a bar just to have your ID OK'ed, so I really want to give kudos to the staff at Irish Kevin's for not making this an overly complicated or needlessly long process like some other places can tend to do. The bar was PACKED and it was difficult to move around - not the bars fault, but this is not typically my scene or level of comfort. This is not a complaint, but I mention this as it importantly prefaces my experience at Irish Kevin's that evening. I was kind of nagging my buddies that we should go to the next place, it was packed, uncomfortable and I wasn't really digging the music either. Then something happened on our way out. As we were walking through the main hall of the bar, the guitarist (Irish Kevin?) invited several Men who were active duty in the military, and he celebrated their service with a great song (and an exceptional performance - I wish I remembered the name of the song to tell here!) and then invited these men to chug whiskey from a bottle. It was quite a site to see. We were in rarified air, as an Admiral of the US Navy was present that evening. The guitarist then continued his performance and divided the bar in half, two groups competing against each other in raucousness and song. It was a very exciting night and perhaps I would even go as far as to say it was the highlight of our evening in Key West. I am glad that my buddies convinced me to stick around for a little while longer. I had a great time. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Key West - when that will be I cannot say for sure - but one thing I'm sure of is that it will not be without another visit to Irish Kevin's. read more

This place was at the heart of our trip to KW this past July for my 50th birthday. The whole Duval St strip is a ton of fun, but this place has it down. We hung out all night with Jared and Jim. Jared runs the room like a total PRO. They sound great and he was definitely born for this kind of thing. He's a good musician and knows how to keep the party going. We just drank beer, didn't eat anything, but the party atmosphere had us come back a couple of times in the 4 days we spent on KW. On my last day, Jimmy (Acoustic Johnson) let me come up and play a couple of songs. We came in for one last drink before driving back up to Miami and heading home, and he invited me up no stage. We left with t-shirts and pint glasses like a couple of tourists, but this was the only place we did that. If you're on KW, you just have to go there. read more

Stopped here each day of our trip in key West, lots of fun. At night our entertainment was hilarious with NY Pauly and John Solinski, both kept us singing and laughing. John Solinski has vulgar jokes and will call people out of the crowd to poke fun at them, I lived in fear that on my walk to the bathroom as I pasted the stage the lime light would be turned on me as the brunt of the jokes. NY Pauly had the whole crowd singing along and going all night. During the day the entertainment isn't as good but still entertaining. The waitress are amazing, constantly walking around getting you drinks and refills. They keep the alcohol flowing. The bar itself is pub style with a narrow path to the other side of the bar and bathrooms. With large crowds the trip to the bathroom can become quite the adventure. OK, I've had a few hours to mull over my thoughts, so here goes. I LOVE the layout of this bar, the Irish theme and the tribute to the military veteran's in the rear corner of the building. The place was very organized and clean. One very long bar on the south wall, plenty of seats and another bar in the back with TV. A+ for this bar's decor and design. The gift shop is also very nice with tons of merch for purchase, yet PRICEY. $25 for a tee shirt....yikes! My problems with this bar are small. The server got to us quickly, but she seemed ambivolent and bothered about us deciding to tab it or not. It was extremely loud for just the two guys on stage rocking out tunes from Men At Work to the Cure, so it was tough to communicate. My ears are still bleeding from the volume, despite loving the song choices. Also, if smoke bothers you, then the nicotine aura in the place may drive you away. Step inside and you'll see what I mean. Furthermore, I was disappointed when my Guinness was poured into a regular pint glass, not a real Guinness glass. I mean, Irish is in the name, right? Also, they poured a Stella in a regular pint and the mojito my uncle had was weak. Fail on the drinks. I will be back for another visit to give another try, though. read more

Biggest surprise by far...the great craft beer selection! Key West tends to be a tropical drink or cheap beer sort of focus so it was cool to walk into a bar that had a wall full of legit craft beer choices (as opposed to the Sam Adams and Yuengling craft beer claims of other places). That being said the beers are a little pricier than some of your other drink options along Duval so try to find some BOGO drink coupons like we did so the cost evens out. We visited at an off time of day before the bars were really filling up and bar is actually pretty big but smoking is allowed and theres not a lot of air flow to the outside world so i imagine it could get pretty stuffy if we were there later at night. The live music was really enjoyable as far as thing singing goes but the guy playing was a little bit raunchy and dirty once he started talking so that was a bit of a deterrant. Overall Irish Kevin's earned just a 3 star from me because of the smoking and the unnecessarily crude performer but I honestly waivered between a 3 and 4 because of the great craft beer selection. He graced the stage twice while we were there, kept the crowd laughing, engaged, and chugging Guiness. I really enjoyed this place. I think it was one of my favorite bars in Key West based on the fact that there is entertainment. Every night, someone sings, cracks jokes, puts on drinking/dancing competitions, and really gets the crowd pumped up and lively. The whole experience is really lively. If you don't want to be picked on, don't go here. One time we walked in, and the guy stopped his song, and called us out for walking in a big line with backpacks and asked where we were from and had the crowd "taunt" us, all in good fun. The entertainers are all really funny, and the drinks are great! Of course, I had to get a cup, and whatever I ordered was super strong, but we sipped and passed (everyone does that right?) and I moved on to a Guinness.
