I'm so pissed off!!!! Got a call from receptionist to confirmed my appointment. She asked me if I received checks from my insurance to pay toward my balance and I said yes. She never told me I have to pay my balance in full. I went in on the day of my appointment waited in lobby for 20 mins before I got called over to make my payment. I told the receptionist I can make the payments whatever the insurance send me and whatever is left for my portion I have to make payments. They told me I can't do that and they have stop long time ago. How is long time ago when I just went there 3 months ago and I still be able to make payments on my balance. So I have to pay my balance in full before they can do my service. I feel like they just want money and don't care about their patients. read more

First, they DRILLED A HOLE IN MY TONGUE! They were adjusting the bite on a crown they had placed, so I was not even numb.Then they tried charging me extra for what they said was PPP. When I asked for compensation, I was told this is normal and happens all the time. They only compensated me $100 off my bill. A few weeks later my veneer (it was 15 years old and placed by another dentist) cracked. I returned to them to have it replaced because I had not found another dentist at the time. The whole process for the veneer took longer than needed. They ordered the wrong size and color, so it had to be sent back a few times. When they placed it, I noticed a shaded line in the middle of my veneer. I went back to have them check it and was told it was just an air bubble and would be fine. I wish I'd known then that this was infact not fine ! 2 years later (a veneer, if properly placed should last 15 + years), I had to have the veneer removed due to decay caused by improper placement. My new dentist replaced it with a crown. My insurance will not even cover this because it is of faulty placement of the veneer. IRMO Smiles refused to cover the cost. They won't even let me speak to Dr.Misti Raman. I was told she does not speak to her patients. I am so glad my new dentist is kind, understanding, and takes time with their patients. My new dentist figured out a way to save me money on the cost of the crown and set up a payment plan. I am so sad that Misti would treat me like this as I was a patient of hers since she started out. After paying these people over $5,000 and waiting two and a half years, they won't let me be there so I can take pictures and share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with my son??!! And yes, I AM FULLY VACCINATED, HAVE MY CARD TO PROVE IT, and am WEARING A MASK! When I protested, I was given two different justifications by two different people. First, I was told it was because of Covid; then when I told another employee that I had my vaccination card, she said it was because there's not enough room which is complete BS because I've been back there and there is plenty of room. I learned I had s couple of cavities during a cleaning st another dentist, and came here to get s price on fillings. They wanted extensive xrays first, which I paid for, and then wanted to do more extensive prep work before they'd do the fillings, amounting to about $2500!! AFTER that they would give me a quote on the fillings! Needless to say I went back to the first dentist to get my work done and am very happy with his rates and work. These people are too expensive for my budget! If you have dental insurance and plenty of money, you've probably found the right place. If on a budget like I am, look elsewhere for someone more reasonable. This place will try to get all they can out of you. read more

My son was a patient for the first time two weeks ago for a cleaning. Dentist told me he had early periodontal disease extremely rare for a 13 year old. Dr. Wurster a dentist there told me he had the mouth of a 50 year old . Severe gum issues and possible bone loss. She said wait till you hear how much you cost up your parents to fix your gums. Went out a couple days,later got a second opinion he had no gum disease no issues at all. New dentist said he did not understand how they rates my kids guns a 5 all around his mouth. I'm out a 100.00 forwarding second opinion but I guess worth it. opinion . Will never go back there again! They also pushed the issue to go to Columbia periodontal that they are partners with but by went somewhere else to a best of lexington dentist voted for that is. I've been a patient since 2013 of both Drs. Jim and Misty. I met them at a wedding expo and they've been the same genuine people since. Dr. Bill has also been great in the last year he's worked with me. I don't want to single out any hygienist, or forget names, but I haven't met one that doesn't make me feel welcome and a part of their family. I've even brought my husband, mother-in-law and co-workers to Irmo Smiles because of how great they've been to me. My daughter will be joining the family this Spring with her first cleaning. read more

In July I got two cavities filled by Misti Raman at Irmo Smiles. She performed the entire procedure in about 20 minutes. I had severe pain in my teeth for weeks and went back FOUR times to get the issue corrected. Finally, after not being satisfied with her ability to fix the problem, I went to another dentist. He informed me that my fillings were not properly attached to my teeth and my bite was off which is why I had such pain. He easily fixed them in one procedure by taking out my fillings and completely redoing them. I was finally able to chew on that side of my mouth and drink cold water again. Raman also said I needed eight cavities filled- yes, I felt totally grossed out with myself and couldn't believe it. I asked my new dentist to let me know how many cavities I had- I didn't tell him about the eight that I thought I had. He said that there are zero... Talk about a major difference. I wanted to get my money back from Irmo Smiles because I now had to pay for two different procedures and felt totally wronged. When I spoke to the insurance company it turned out that Irmo Smiles had filed that they fixed *four* cavities instead of the two that she actually "filled." Lesson learned- do some serious homework before trusting a health care professional, check your insurance claims, and get second opinions. read more

I went here and initially I loved it. Then I got a bill for a service that I had paid for in full while I was there! I called and was told they had some issues with the person who was handling insurance claims, and they had been let go. They assured me my bill would be handled. During this time they also told me my son had a cavity that needed to be filled. Luckily I took him to get a second opinion. No cavity.... 3 yrs later still no cavity and my bill still hasn't been fixed correctly. Needless to say I have a $122 account on my credit report that I'd rather keep, then give them anymore of my money. read more

My orthodontist that did my braces as a child is in Florida, and after getting some fillings I needed to get my retainer adjusted. My dentist recommended this office and I had to go through the whole new patient stuff. The staff was extremely friendly, however I was not the biggest fan of Dr. Raman. All I needed was my retainer adjusted and he was concerned about putting me back in braces at the cost of 6 thousand dollars. I understand what he was trying to convey to me, and why he was suggesting braces. However, I've talked to 2 different dentists, my previous orthodontist, and someone who does implants, and none of them have brought up the issues he did with my smile. He also brought up insecurities with my smile I had, or even noticed, until he mentioned them. Needless to say, I'll be looking for a new orthodontist for if I need another retainer adjustment. read more

I went to Irmo Smiles due to a recommendation. The staff was friendly and cordial. I had a couple of bad teeth that I needed removed. They took my insurance card and information and I was taken to an office. At that point the Dr Recommended three extactions. I inquired how much would that cost after insurance. The nurse took my card again, and came back with an amount of $246.60. I once again asked it that was my total out of pocket expense, she said yes. I told the Dr to proceed and he did. Again, a very friendly staff checked me out, took the money and that was that. Until I got a bill for $506.42. I called and they told me they were only in-network for othodontia, but out of network for dentistry. I got an "I'm sorry" but there is nothing I can do. An absolute con game. No recourse for the patient just a lot of "we are sorry's". I can't believe this is legal (certainly not ethical) treatment. Now contacting SC Dept of Consumers Affairs. read more
