    Baja-Style Fish Tacos

They have tasters of beer so you can try before you buy. Love this option. I tried a few and ended up ordering a winter lager, phenomenal beer. The fried brussel spouts were made perfect to my liking. Crunchy with a slight char. The added drizzle and bacon pieces added more savory of a flavor to the dish. Lastly, the Baja fish tacos were so good! Again, cooked perfectly and were well presented with the right amount of cabbage.

Crab Cake Sandwich with Side Sweet Potato Fries

Be warned!! I DO NOT recommend substituting for sweet potato fries!! I substituted sweet potato fries ($3.99 upcharge) for the regular fries that accompany the handheld entrees when I ordered a crab cake sandwich, and I literally only got like 5 sweet potato fries. We were told it was because the sweet potato fries are thicker than the regular fries so they give a smaller portion (see picture for portion--it's ridiculously small for the upcharge). Also see other picture for portion of regular fries. I've been coming here for years for celebration dinners and family get-togethers, but unfortunately the quality and value have significantly declined :(. I don't know if all Iron Hills are like this--I've also been to the one in Hershey, PA but haven't been recently.

10/01/23: While in NJ decided to dine before returning to NY. Warmly greeted by the host. Large party and they originally had us slated for the dining room but as it was game day the guys wanted to view. Very accommodating they organized tables in the bar area which had big screen TVs all around. Our server Jason was amazing. Pleasant, engaging knowledgeable about the menu. Even gave us samples of the beer so we could select our flights . Appetizers Nachos with chicken: large portion crispy nachos and flavorful meat Coconut Shrimp: didn't partake but others enjoyed. Gumbo: OMG didn't know I needed it in my life. Sampled my friend's and let's say his gumbo became ours. Flavorful, all the ingredients blended together well. Peel & Eat shrimp: delicious and another hi Fried brussel Sprouts: it was ok, but I have to add not a fan but others whom were stated they were yummy. Mains Beer Brined Pork Chops: delicious, cherry chutney was a tad skeptical but let's just say I asked for to go with my left overs. Pan Seared Scallops: equally yummy. Other items Crabcake sandwich, pizza, Shrimp and Grits, burgers, fish and chips, chicken sandwich. Didn't sample but my friends all enjoyed and we all had happy bellies. I tried the sweet potato fries, and another and another. lol All in all great dine with great friends.

    Taster vs 12oz

Around a year ago I came to this place and didn't know what to order so I probably just got appetizers and it was average. But, Today I went in and got the Oktoberfest beer, tasted the pumpkin ale, got the jumbo shrimp with cheesy grits and it was so satisfying Highly suggested for a good beer and bite to eat. For families there is a seating side vs the pub side of the place.

The food was delicious and the drinks were great! I'm not usually a beer person, but I tried a sample of the Brambleberry signature beer and was pleasantly surprised--it had a soft, fruity flavor and didn't taste like a typical beer, which I really liked. Our waitress was super friendly and very attentive throughout our visit. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy, but it definitely picked up as time went on. Overall, a really enjoyable experience!

The beer at iron hill is always consistent and they have a great selection of different styles that rotates throughout the year. The service here is great. Our server was super nice and knowledgeable but the food was sub par compared to some of the other locations I have been to. The brussel sprouts which usually are very good, were loaded with too much lemon and they weren't crispy and more on the soggy side. I got a chicken sandwich that comes with a black pepper aioli and chose sweet potato fries on the side. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The bun was as well with not much on it. The sweet potato fries. We're not crispy at all but seasoned well.

    Chili Crunch Chicken Lettuce Wraps

We had a wonderful lunch. Haven't been here for a year and was happy to see more items that were marked gluten free. They added a chicken lettuce wrap that both my husband and I enjoyed. Having Celiac Disease is always difficult when you eat out, however I felt very confident with how they treated food allergies. Our server, Deana was excellent. She made sure to explain my needs to the kitchen.

Beer in a proper glass at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

It's beer o'clock. After spending the day in Zoom meetings and responding to a million emails, I'm done. So here I am at a quiet table in Iron Hill enjoying an adult beverage and writing Yelp reviews. Crazy, eh? Good beer, a great bowl of Brussels sprouts and since I was still hungry, a pizza. And a bonus star because they offer a cauliflower crust. Probably not completely keto friendly but close enough for me! I chose the Voodoo Chicken which included chicken, smoke gouda, green peppers, red onions, bacon and a spicy barbecue sauce. Delicious and I would like another right now, please! My waitress brought the beer ordered and a free sample of another. Because that's just great service! [Review 18271 overall - 144 in New Jersey - 1793 of 2022.]

I'm a bit conflicted on applying a rating system here. So on the less positive side of the experience, we were seated at a severely rocking table. I'd rather have a table than a booth, of which there were many, but it was hard to touch the table because it would cause it to move. Then we had to wait with our food at the table for silverware. The gentleman who brought the food was not our waiter, who we had to flag down once for the silverware and once for water. I would have swiped silverware from the next empty table, but of the two tables around us there was only one set of silverware! On the positive - it's largely clean, including the restrooms. They have some lovely fall decorations out. The parking lot, even though it's on one side of a divided highway, has a good amount of room. But most importantly, the food is delicious. The Taste of Germany had three awesome schnitzels, and the broccolini was perfectly cooked with a good snap and great seasoning. The mashed potatoes must be saved for last to absorb the leftover sauce from the schnitzels, and you'll be sad there's not more. The employees were very nice, and quite likely just a bit understaffed. See? Conflicting!

Third brewery stop this Saturday afternoon with my son, as we crawl towards our goal of hitting five. This was also our lunch stop. We each ordered a flight and shared. I went with the fish tacos and he ordered a burger. All good. The flights were worthwhile with the exception of the green birthday cake beer. Not a favorite. The restaurant was huge and we sat at the bar. Our server was excellent and attentive. The flights were the smallest of the day at 4 oz each.

    Fried Rhode Island Calamari
    Phylicia H.

My friends and I had dinner here the other night and all enjoyed our meals. We ordered the fried Rhode Island calamari as our app. We all thought it was just okay. The aioli paired with it was different. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. I ordered the left coast turkey burger and i would definitely order it again. It was super juicy and tasty! Fries were also great! Service, food and drinks were good. The place just wasn't the cleanest. Our table was very sticky. Every little thing would stick to the table. My one friend had a dirty and stained napkin wrapped around her utensils. Besides that, we all had a nice dinner

Very large restaurant with party tables in the back. Jason, our server was EXCELLENT!! The drinks were great, and so was the food. My husband got the bloody Mary and was pleasantly surprised to see all of the good was fresh and warm since he usually gets cold stuff that is "for looks" at other places. We would come back if in the area.

Decent food and lots of brews here and plenty of parking. Didn't take us long to get seated and our server Madison was great and personable. We ordered a flight and some tasters. We opted for the "Biergarten" Flight. They were out of the Das Boot so I substituted it for the Pig Iron Porter. Oktoberfest - little lighter than your average oktoberfest when it comes to taste but it was very crisp and easy to drink. Schwarzbier - In my opinion, this tasted more like a Porter than a dark Lager but still delicious. The flavors did come through really well. Vienna Red - You get a little but of the caramel but I did enjoy this beer a lot. It was easy to drink and a great dinner beer. Pig Iron Porter - not as heavy as I thought it would be and you definitely get all the flavor notes. Ordered samples of the following: Blueberry Yum Yum - light Blueberry notes in the smell and taste but a light sour beer. This is not super tart and pretty enjoyable. Milk Stache - Creamy, delicious and not overly rich. I did like this beer a lot and I decided to combine this with their Honey Graham ice cream and it was actually quite good! Watermelon Lager - if you're a normal beer drinker, I don't recommend this beer. It tastes as if you left a piece of watermelon in some water and left it there and it is VERY light..least favorite hands down. Brambleberry - super refreshing and loved the raspberry flavors that you get in the taste and smell. Homestead - another great Farmhouse Ale with great fruity notes but not overpowering. Also light and easy to sip on. For dinner we ordered a variety of things. Food was overall alright and presentation was a little sloppy.. For an appetizer we ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls. These were alright, not exactly packed with flavor but I did like the horseradish sauce it came with on the side. Also good with the ketchup. I ordered the Kennett Square Mushroom soup and it was really good. Very finely chopped mushrooms and creamy. For dinner, we ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, Char-Grilled Ribeye Steak and Cajun Fettucine. The dinner entrees were lacking just a little but of salt. The pot pie had a good crispy topping and the steak was cooked decently but the chimchurri didn't add too much to the overall dish. My pasta had plenty of andouille sausage but the shrimp was not cleaned very well. Decent flavor but not spicy and I think there was just too much sauce on the plate. The Honey Graham ice cream was delicious and as I mentioned, I put some in the taster glass and poured in some of the Milk Stache beer to make a little beer float and it was actually quite good. The food was, in summary, a tad disappointing but the beer was good and we had a great time with a easy going atmosphere. Service was great and you can pay your tab at the end through a QR code. They do have a drink menu but food menu and otherwise can be scanned through a QR code on the table.

The only beer that I wasn't too crazy about was the Granny Sam Green Apple Sour but once the other fruited sour kicked I ended up switching to Shandy Cheeks. First and foremost, our server was excellent. Polite and prompt, friendly, everything you want in a server. My problem was the food ... I ordered the halibut, asked my server about the "seasonal veggies" it comes with (she mentioned asparagus, okay good) because I do love veggies, but there are some I just really do not. Unfortunately, those exact veggies arrived on the plate, and my entree looked more like stir fry. I don't like onions or peppers ... and they were the base veggie of the dish. The menu describes the "sauce" as a lemon citronette, and this dish was not at all what I was expecting. It lacked flavor, there was no sauce, not a hint of lemon (I even squeezed some on there & it didnt help :( ) I can get past some vegetables I don't eat, just pushed them to the side, but the halibut was so so so incredibly dry. It wasn't soft, or flakey, or moist. (I hate that word but it was the best way to describe what it lacked) It was like cardboard. I was trying to choke it down because I too, had just worked a serving shift for Mothers Day, & it was the first thing I was eating all day. My husband mentioned something to the server because he knew I wouldn't haha, I don't like to be a pain customer or send things back. At this point I'm starting to wonder if the chickens are real or if I've been the victim of an elaborate prank. Fortunately, the food more than made up for my poultry disappointment. We ordered a couple different wing flavors, including the Honey Mustard and a blueberry-based sauce, and both were excellent. The wings themselves were massive, meaty, and cooked really well. The Honey Mustard had a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess with just enough mustard bite to keep it from feeling overly sweet. The blueberry flavor was surprisingly good too. It had a sweet-tart fruitiness that sounds unusual on paper but worked really well with the smoky, savory wings. Both sauces had plenty of flavor without completely overpowering the chicken. The atmosphere is classic neighborhood pub. Cozy, casual, and the kind of place where people seem comfortable settling in for the whole evening. Downstairs there's a bar and shuffleboard area that definitely attracts a younger crowd. It gets pretty lively and noisy, which adds to the fun if you're there with friends. My only real complaint is that parts of the place felt a little messy. The stairs leading downstairs were sticky, and parts of the basement floor were too. Nothing that ruined the experience, but it was noticeable. The staff, however, were fantastic. Fast, friendly, and personable. Even when things were busy, they kept everything moving and made us feel welcome. Overall, it's a fun spot with great wings, good energy, and a laid-back crowd. Still giving it four stars because I left without seeing a single chicken, and I feel mildly betrayed.
