I-275 south of Metro airport is a bit of a food desert, and when a Yelp search turned up this place just off the Huron road exit a visit was in order. Iron Mikes was about half full at 7 PM on a Friday. Took a seat at the bar and got my drink order taken quickly. Very low key atmosphere but clean and lively,, I was in the mood for a burger so ordered a patty melt. I was a bit surprised to see it topped with American cheese (see photo); I thought patty melts by definition used swiss. Wasn't in the mood to send it back and I figured a cheeseburger's a cheeseburger so I tucked in. And never looked back. The beef had good flavor and was cooked to a perfect medium. It was a large patty--1/2 lb., though you can get a 3/4 pounder if you're really hungry. Onions were well carmelized. The housemade chips were also great, crisped but not burnt. I've been to Iron Mike's several times over the past year, and the service has gotten noticeably worse each visit. The bar staff seems completely overwhelmed or uninterested, even though the restaurant advertises specialty drinks they can't seem to execute well. Asking to change a TV channel is pointless -- you'll end up staring at a Detroit Tigers logo instead of an actual game. Something has definitely changed here, and it feels like management's attention is somewhere else. Maybe the recent golf course purchase is taking priority over taking care of the customers they already have. Disappointing decline. read more

Wow..... what a hidden gem! I came here after a tough day at work alone. I was looking for mediocre food and a beer. Instead I got the most amazing grilled chicken wrap, house salad and to die for hot sauce. None of that is what gives this place 5 stars, I had the BEST SERVICE EVER. my waitress was attentive, apologized for the most minimum wait and was excellent in suggestions. I wish I would have caught her name (probably 38-40 year old blonde skinny lady) but damn was she an excellent waitress. I watched her hustling to make sure every table she had was happy! First visit to Iron Mikes. The atmosphere is a small town bar vibe. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant even though it has the look of an old bar is clean, bathrooms were very clean as well. Our Server took great care of us and the food was delicious! They even accommodated my diet with something not on the menu. If you are in the area it's definitely worth a try... even if you're not in the area it's worth the drive. read more

Owner and servers had my parents leaving in distress through racist actions and rude comments grew up going here and I'm very disappointed to hear this, the sweetest people tried to celebrate instead left with a horrible experience and a reason to reach out and let people know these actions are still lurking in crappy restaurants. read more

How does a bar have a hamburger with no flavor I took it home for my dog to eat and he took it out of his bowl and looked at be like you really think im gonna eat this my dog eats anything but iron mikes had to toss it in the garbage never coming back the service was horrible their was with 5 other people and we all had to wait for 15 minutes before they took our drink orders then another 20 minutes just to order food that my dog won't even eat read more

We live local and have been in three times with increasingly worse service. We have tried but it really seems like it is more of a social club for the regulars than anything else, including the owner. Found this place on Google since it was close to the golf course I was at, and I'm so glad we stopped. The food was good, the waitress was very nice, and we got to sit outside on the little patio to enjoy the nice weather. Get the sampler platter if you can't decide what appetizer to get. Pleasantly surprised to find a place with similar quality to Bobby McShane's in this same area! We played it safe this time- the cheddar burger with black olives (custom) got rave reviews from my other half (I also had a bit and he's right! It was great!). High quality, flavorful beef and nice sesame seed bun. I had the triple decker club with no ham and extra bacon (crispy). It was on delightful marble rye and presented like a normal sandwich- not in 4 pieces. It was just good! Exactly the right size for lunch. We shall come back and try more later. I've always had a good meal at Iron Mike's. I've only been there a handful of times with friends, but tonight I went alone for the fish fry. My friend and I were in from out of town and looking for local places to eat near our Airbnb. Our host recommended Iron Mike's for their ribs. Since we are "rib people", it was a no brainer! The place really is a dive bar, but clean and a bit brighter inside than most dive bars I've been in. You get a basket of popcorn when you sit down! Awesome! I assumed the menu would revolve around ribs, but they were just on the menu like one more thing. Well, we got them and they were AMAZING. Like, the best ribs I have ever had. Fall off the bone even dry, fantastic sauce, meaty ... I'm in heaven just thinking about it! We then went to another upscale rib place a couple days later (Slow's in Detroit. Don't bother. I wrote a review for them too...). We paid TWICE what we paid here and the quality was really crap. We needed to cleanse our palette so we went back to Iron Mike's a day or 2 after that. Again, amazing. I will say, the second time we went they weren't quite *as* amazing, but I think he had cooked them the day prior. Out first time he was in the lot while we ate! If you see that smoker going, hustle your tuckus in, even if you aren't hungry! Take them home! If you got a hanker for ribs, head on over no matter what day. If you like local, you'll like Iron Mike's. Don't let the "dive bar" moniker deter you. There's plenty of seating at the bar, tables or on the patio, weather permitting. It's open and airy and roomy. Fun destination for a summer motorcycle ride. Great place for a burgers and a beer but if you like prime rib, come on Wednesdays! Picked up a carry out of just one cheeseburger and fries. The total was around $11.00. Also have a $2.00 tip. Once I got home I was frustrated to see they charged extra for using a credit card and for the take out container. Was not told this only realized when I seen the breakdown of the receipt. Delightful staff, friendly bartender. Food was excellent and price was typical bar prices. Drinks were good and not weak.

On Saturdays, they have Mexican dishes on special. They are pretty good considering they're not a Mexican restaurant :) Still love the side salads and popcorn- and the servers are always nice, which I appreciate. Iron Mike's is a solid choice if you're in the area. They have a hole-in-the-wall bar type feel but also have a side area for more family-like seating and an outdoor patio area. Their menu is pretty impressive for a smaller establishment and I've never had anything I didn't like. Highlights include ribs, the steak and cheese grinder sandwich, and mini sliders. Also, they give you free popcorn to snack on!
