I came here yesterday for brunch and it disappoint! I've typically gone to the Locust Point location, but decided to give this one a try. This one I feel like is a little smaller and the tables are a lot closer together. They were pretty busy when I went at around 1pm, but my friend and I were able to get a seat at the bar. Even with them being super busy, the bartender was very on top of it and our food came out quickly. Their brunch menu has a lot of great selections to choose from. The mixed berry RoosTart is always my go to appetizer, but I also gave the breakfast egg rolls a try. They were very flavorful and delicious, with a little bit of chipotle spice when dipping it in the sauce. I'm always impressed by the portion sizes of their entrees. For my meal I had the chicken & pancakes. The maple bourbon butter that they put on the pancakes is amazing and the fried chicken was cooked to perfection and juicy. read more

I stopped in at 3pm on a Friday and didn't have to wait to be seated. If you check in on fb you get free bacon in a Mason jar. I think they should give us yelpers the same kinda love and also give you a choice of turkey or pork bacon.. but free is free, right? Its the good bacon, so you pork bacon lovers will love it. I wanted pancakes so I got pancakes. My food came out somewhat cold. The restaurant was about 1/3 full so IDK why my food was cold. The pancakes were not light and fluffy but they were not overly dense and thick. For me it worked. The maple bourbon butter was tasty. I ate both pancakes which is a rarity for me. The turkey bacon tasted like the typical trader Joe's turkey bacon. The eggs were cold and cold eggs are gross so I didn't eat them. I want to go back and try the chicken and waffles. It looked amazing. The lemonade was meh, so next go round I'm getting an adult beverage or coffee. Service could've been better. I don't remember if my waitress asked if my food was ok and I had to ask for the check. She took so long I walked to the register to pay. The food was a solid 3.5 stars. First off, I love that you can get free bacon if you like one of their photos on their IG page! Talk about incentive. Our waiter was awesome and very accommodating whenever we needed something. The menu has a lot of good options to choose from. I couldn't decide because I was hungry and wanted everythingggg. I ended up going with the chicken and pancakes! It came with a side of home fries. For the drink, I had the iron crush (w/ grapefruit). Everything tasted wonderful except for the home fries. I just like mine to be cooked a certain way. I was still satisfied with everything else. I sat down today and ordered pop tarts. I specifically told the waitress that I would like them to go, with all dressings on the side and that I would like the dough to be raw as I was going to cook them the next morning. i asked her if oven or microwave cooking is better and she told me instructions would be on box. she took the order and the table next to me also placed their meal order. The table next to me finally received their food, and I still not received my to go order. Eventually, a to go order arrived. I noticed that it was hot to the touch. There was also some type of sticky dressing that smelled almost like soy sauce under one of the carton leaking through the bag. I explained to her that these were cooked, and they also had all of the toppings on top of them melted already. I could tell that she was annoyed by this entire situation. To me, she seemed to have the sort of attitude that a teenager would have. Roling her eyes, hands on hip type girl. She did not make eye contact. she blamed this on the kitchen. A few minutes later, she came back and I tried to remind her of the drink I ordered, but she pretended to not hear me. I noticed it wasn't on my receipt and I figured I would only be there for a few more minutes so it wasn't a big deal. I wish I had not paid for my items before I received them. I tipped bad attitude blonde her 20% on both of the to go orders. I was still waiting for them when she came with her bad attitude and grabbed the other to go bags off of my counter and smashed them together, not acknowledging me at all. The table next to me then ordered the exact same dessert that I had ordered to go. Except they wanted theirs heated. Mine still had not arrived. They received and ate theirs and mine had still not arrived. eventually, the second order came. I walked out of the restaurant with it. something struck me as odd, the way that the waitress had told me when she handed me the bag here are your uncooked pop tarts with items on the side. She said it sort of sarcastic. So I ended up looking into the bag and I realized they were fully cooked. I think done intentionally. I went outside and asked for another waitress, and several very very nice waitresses helped me. They smiled and made eye contact. Everyone else was friendly. After I explained the situation, I overheard me being called a not so nice name by one of the staff. To me that's crazy because I been extremely patient waiting over an hour and a half or whatever it had been for something that should've been five minutes. The manager then came. He very politely tried to blame me for the problem. Telling me that even though they advise selling bake yourself poptsrts I should've given advance notice if I wanted this done. I did not want to get into a fight with him, and I just wanted go order, so I let him know that I had in fact, called the day before, however, even if I had not, the waitress still should've told me that it was not possible or that it would be a two hour wait, or just tell me they can't take the order. DO NOT LIE to your customer and try to trick them twice saying they are uncooked when in fact they are cooked. they ended up putting all of the ingredients in a bag so that way tomorrow morning I can make my own pop tarts. I would have to fill them and everything The manager told me that I can find instructions on how to make pop tarts on YouTube. This was different information then I was promised by the bad waitress who said that I would get a printed out instruction that would be put on the box. I started to get a weird feeling that they did something after I heard myself getting called a name. I will toss the whole order. I don't want them to get me sick or have spit in my food. Because that's the aura that I got from this place. No refund was given not even of my tip. They didn't offer me water or anything while I wait. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and owner. The entire thing was crazy and unprofessional. read more

Bottom Line: Convenient location and a tasty, comforting menu. I am a fan of Iron Rooster and I really like the convenience of the Canton location. This Iron Rooster is located just a mile or so off of I-95 and it has lots of parking. The restaurant is located in the busy Canton Crossing shopping center but it is still easy enough to find a parking spot. Iron Rooster features American comfort food and a full bar. They have all day breakfast and are known for their homemade pop-tarts which they somewhat recently branded as RoosTarts and started shipping. The tarts are good but I can usually pass without regrets. My go to menu item at Iron Rooster is the chicken and waffles. It is hard for me to branch out but I have dabbled in other parts of the menu. Other tempting choices include shrimp and grits, burgers and breakfast quesadillas. My most recent visit to Iron Rooster in Canton was during COVID. (Ugh, I feel like I have been using the phrase "during COVID" for a crazy long time.) Shout out to all restaurants operating during COVID! Iron Rooster was on top of all of the COVID restrictions and precautions and I felt safe dining there. The menu seemed smaller to me, which is totally understandable, but perhaps it was because I was there at an odd time or I was missing a page! read more

Absolutely love iron rooster, always try to get it when I'm in town visiting my parents. First time at this location and I was pleased with the service. There is plenty of free parking which is a bonus, some of the other locations it's limited parking or paid. I had a Bloody Mary to start and it was really good, it was served with bacon in it. For breakfast I had chicken and waffles which is served with a pepper gravy on top and it's always so yummy. I had grits on the side with pepper jack cheese and added some pepper. Was good texture and decently good. My friend had a basic breakfast and was overall pleased. Definitely will come to this location over Annapolis location. I went on a week day around 1pm and it wasn't busy but it took a long time for everything. We got the Southwest salad (comes in an edible bowl!) and mac n cheese chorizo bites to share, got the quesadilla, breakfast bowl, and panini for our mains; and then topped it off with the strawberry cheesecake pop tart. All were great! Their pop tarts are really fun to get -- essentially a large, warm pop tart. My only complaint is that the coffee seemed like it was watered down, but hey, it's bottomless. They completely forgot one of our dishes - the chicken and waffles and we didn't realize it until we got home since it was listed on the outside of our bag. The are open for indoor dining and ask that you sign in on a google form before being seated. All staff are wearing masks and sanitizing tables when customers left. If you would like to order from a contactless menu, they do have a QR code available, otherwise menus were on the table when we sat down. One of my favorite brunch items is Chicken and Waffles, and I decided to try to Chicken and french toast since you don't see that combo too often. I was expecting great things as it has its own section on the menu and is "fried to perfection". Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I really enjoyed visiting Iron Rooster in Canton for brunch on Sunday. I made a reservation with Open Table in advance, so we were seated immediately - awesome! I had a coffee, mimosa, and the chicken and waffles. I loved my waffle - the cornbread was a nice spin on a classic and was fluffy and had great flavor. The chicken was good, though it didn't blow me away or anything. I thought the gravy was tasty, but also kind of a weird pairing. I asked for syrup and enjoyed that flavor more. I did dunk some of my chicken in the gravy though. I checked in on Yelp and the server said she would bring us free bacon, but it never arrived. I do think she was trying to give good service - she had great recommendations and was very nice. But she was also very busy so things like my coffee being empty, waiting a long time to be able to ask for syrup, and the bacon never arriving were kind of a bummer. I don't blame her, I think they are short staffed like basically everywhere right now. I wanted to try a pop tart but honestly am glad I didn't - my meal was very filling and I would have been stuffed if I ate anything else. In years past, I wasn't as impressed with the dishes here but iron rooster has grown on me. Lots of seating, quick and pleasant service. Love the free bacon with a social media checkin. Their poptarts have always been bomb--I've had the brown sugar and mixed berry ones before which I love but this time I tried a special: the strawberry cheesecake. As always the crust of the poptart was deliciously buttery, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The filling was delicious. I also shared the chicken and waffles as well as the breakfast grit bowel. I have had the chicken and waffles many times and always wish there was a dark meat option to the fried chicken, but otherwise it's a fine meal. Loved the grit bowl!!! I was even offered a cup to go as we were getting the bill. We started with a jar of bacon, which many would find to crispy, but we enjoyed it. Until our candied bacon arrived, which was not sickly sweet, but instead had a touch of spice. GF ordered crab hash, so much hash, it's at least two servings if not four. It was very good with decent hunks of crab meat. I had the biscuits & gravy, which had a good sage flavor. I recommend extra gravy for your home fries. As for the biscuit, well, it was hard as rock.
