WARNING OMG! Normally I don't share bad experiences here! Or very rare! I also try to be use very polite language if there is a something negative in the restaurants! I am sorry but probably I will not visit again! We wait 1 hour to come in which is understandable bc is Sunday afternoon! We waited! When we arrive, the restaurant was nearly half empty! They took us to upstairs. I don't know why?‍ Then the waitress came in the minute to ask drinks. I said I will wait for my boy friend.(he was in the restroom) We start to wait for waitress for a while! Anyway we order the drinks, fresh orange juice and mimosa. She brought orange juice and told me she will bring my mimosa. Btw knife and fork was veeeery dirty! We gave her to change it! She did! Then we start to wait. I ordered soup of the day and salat with grilled chicken. And my boy friend wanted a breakfast. She asked, pancake, waffle or bla bla. He said waffle! First of all we waited for 45 minutes for these orders! I wanted leave but we were starving!!! Anyway orders arrived; wrong and missing! She brought pancakes instead of waffle! No syrup nothing! This place has seriously gone downhill. Last time we came in, about a month ago, the hostess was rude, but this time it has gotten exponentially worse to the point we walked out. The blue haired hostess (I have nothing against colored hair, it's actually really pretty, but I didn't get her name) asked if we wanted a high top. I said a table or booth if you have it, if not, a high top is fine. She just started walking away with the menus, so we followed. She sat us at a table, great. There were at least 4 booths open with trash on them (this should have been a sign when we walked in). We sat there for over 10 minutes with servers passing left & right, and not one person said hello (including the hostesses when we walked in) or I'll be right with you. I turned around three times and made eye contact with the hostess to no avail. We ended up walking out and going somewhere else. It was NOT even remotely busy. I don't know what is going on with staffing/training, but if you're working with people, you should at LEAST have the decency to say good morning, welcome, someone will be right with you, SOMETHING! We were looking for brunch and stumbled upon Iron Rooster! The wait on Sunday around 2:00pm was 25 minutes so I didn't mind. We didn't get sat until 45 minutes. I was pretty disappointed that we had to wait much longer than told. Upon sitting our table was pretty dirty with a lot of crumbs. I cleaned them with a napkin. Our drink glasses also had food floating in them. We got new drinks and they gave them to us in carry out cups. So maybe we didn't start off fantastic. Our meals: - The chicken and waffles were missing parts of the dish but the food was pretty excellent. - The crab dish was stellar. The potatoes make the dish! Update review : This used to be my spot for the early morning happy hour. The customer service is always on point without a doubt, but the food never stood out for me & my friends. I went to give them a try after some time off & I see they upgraded the menu a bit. I had the California Club omelet but substituted chopped turkey bacon for the pork bacon. Omelet came out well. I also got the chicken and waffles which wasn't bad. 6/10. Nothing special. Didn't have that buttermilk taste that I liked. The best thing I ordered was the waffle churros. 10/10. Soft on the inside with a nice little crisp on the outside. That was my first time trying churros and I loved it. Must order !! Home fries are trash. They had a funny taste to them. Iron rooster is a go, especially if you like pop tarts. The food is good with reasonable pricing. The service is top tier every time. Parking is super easy and the place spacious. It's really regular breakfast food but I'm always happy to not cook it myself. My coffee was hot and cup was never empty. Again the highlight is the pop tart. Sooo glad we stopped here on the way out of the DMV heading back to New Hampshire. The service was on point and parking was a breeze around 10am on Saturday. They have a little something for everyone in the breakfast department and they also got some great tasting coffee. Also, just note that the serving sizes are pretty big. Now lets get to what I ordered. Big Brunch Bowl: This was soo good! It has a lot of meats like bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage with 2 eggs over grits. All the flavors went perfectly together and this was a great dish for me to start my 7 hour drive back to NH. Strawberry Cheesecake Pop tart: If you haven't heard they're known for their pop tarts and NO it's not like the ones you put into the toaster and have for breakfast or a snack these bad boys are home made and was the highlight of my breakfast! They had a lot of other flavors like mixed berry and brown sugar but I had to order the seasonal strawberry cheesecake. It had chucks of strawberry and it wasn't too sweet which is good. My wife even enjoyed it and she hates things that are overly sweet but this was a hit for the whole family. We will be back again when we visit family in the area. I've been to this place multiple times. This review is from my second visit. First and foremost, SHOUT OUT TO OUR SERVER, Myland! My best friend had a dairy allergy and let me tell you... he made it happen. He pulled out this card and I was like dang Iron rooster is ready for all types of allergies! *snaps* I'm really impressed by the allergy tolerance they have at this restaurant. The menu has changed over the years, and is pretty well balanced now (see photos for current regular menu; seasonal specials change... well, seasonally). Overall the food is still awesome. However I still recommend swapping out the home fries in favor of the French fries... The bacon is crispy and fantastic... we always get a side order. If you show them your Yelp! check-in you get a free small order! The coffee is bottomless and very good. They have a reasonable selection of tea bags, but nothing too fancy. Dairy free creamer is hit or miss... sometimes they have it and sometimes they do not. And sometimes they have lactose free "dairy free" creamer... that "contains milk"... lol They do a great job with portions sizes... you get your money's worth for sure. The RoosTarts are very large and very carb/sugar heavy so either share one with coffee before your meal or share one as dessert. The chicken and waffles are a must have, as is the Southern Fried Rooster sandwich. When available, order the crab cake Benedict... it's amazing. The shrimp and grits is another regular favorite. The grits are great - stone ground and well prepared. It's a massive portion. They have a variety of condiments and hot sauces, but the house-made 'Fire Honey Sauce' is amazing and worth a try. The buffalo rooster bites are fried first, then coated in buffalo sauce so they are nice and crispy. The ranch is a bit runny, but overall a great dish. The short stack is still a big portion. Three generous sized pancakes. Honestly everything on the menu is well prepared. Your only difficulty may be choosing which set of dishes to order! If you go during peak weekend brunch hours you might have a bit of a wait for a table... so I recommend getting there earlier in the morning or around lunchtime. read more

Parking is available for this location. I was greeted by a few folks upon arrival which made me feel welcome. Food was very delicious and the portions were large. Service was exceptional. My friend and I were greeted so warmly by everyone and our server Troy went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She was extremely attentive and thoughtful. To start, we shared the 'Brown Sugar Roo-Tart' and the 'Candied Bacon'. The roo-tart was extremely sweet and made my teeth hurt so I only had a piece. It's not for me but my husband loved it. The bacon was delicious, VERY spicy and heavy on the Cayenne but still tasted very good. I also had a glass (or two) of the fresh squeezed orange juice. I wish they sold that by the gallon... that was the best tasting orange juice I've ever had anywhere. For our entrees, my husband got the 'Chicken and Waffles' which were cornmeal waffle/black pepper gravy/home fries. He absolutely loved it. He loved that the chicken wasn't huge pieces. It was more of a chicken tender size. I had the 'Rancher's Benny' for my meal which was fried green tomato/poached egg/English muffin/Boursin/corn salsa/poblano sauce/hollandaise/home fries. It was actually my first time ever having a benedict. It was good! The portion sizes are all good sizes. The service was quick and super friendly. A 45 minute wait for a late morning breakfast I likely par for the course for a Saturday morning with a party of 8, so prepare for a wait if you have a large party. They have started something new where if you check in, like one of their social media pages, etc they give you free bacon which my fiance enjoyed. Our server was great and attentive as well. I walked in at 2:30 not realizing they close at 3pm. The hostess didn't mention it. When the server came over she mentioned that I should order quickly since the kitchen was closing. I felt bad but she was so nice about it. My server was Brooke and she was so friendly and nice. I didn't feel rushed at all. I chose something quick and easy - the arugula, watermelon, avocado and goat cheese salad special. It was a great size for an entree. I added grilled shrimp although they came out after my salad arrived. I think they forgot them but only I had to wait a few minutes. Absolutely delicious. So they served it on the side and brought me syrup. That's how I roll! But the gravy was AMAZING! The dish comes with home fries so I poured the gravy over them and kept it moving. I was hungry and the meal was on point! My friend had a cheeseburger and enjoyed it as well. Let's talk about the chicken. It was moist & crisp at the same time. It was well seasoned and tasted great with the waffle & syrup. BUT, it's not the wing or drumstick. They cut a chicken breast into about 4 strips and fry each piece then serve it with the waffles. There was space at the bar so I grabbed a seat there. Bartenders are very friendly and attentive. My meal this time around was the jelly donut French toast with a side of scrapple. 3 nicely sized pieces of French toast with powdered sugar and mixed berry sauce on top. Way different size from when i had French toast before. May depend on the type of meal you get. This came with no sides. Scrapple was made to perfection. Crispy on the edges and soft in the middle.
