Truck stop with a basic, no-frills feel. We went during dinner. I had the chicken fingers, and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, which wasn't very good. He switched to a burger, which was decent. Service was slow since only one server was covering the whole restaurant, though she was clearly working hard. Overall, the food felt generic. Maybe try their breakfast instead? Not somewhere we'd go out of our way to return to. read more

Food was so perfectly cooked and the cook even plated it so nicely! There was only one cook and one server (Marilyn) at this time and they did an amazing job, especially the cook. He came out and served food to a few customers to help out the server. If I'm ever in area again I am definitely coming back because of them two. #67/2023 Just a simple update been few yrs since review This is for Iron Skillet ONLY unfortunately not the lazy employees working for check in stopping center. Not fuel building though. They are separate. Still a well run managed ISk. On September 12, 2023 I came in and ordered a regular burger that you smash burgers now only no more Skillet cheeseburgers but it was a nice good-sized one prepared really good. I went with the straight one minus pickled onions. Quality was excellent. Burger was cooked perfectly cheese was melted just right lettuce and tomato fries were really good no complaints at all definitely still one of the above average iron skillets. read more

I have been to Kingdom city several times. The first time I went to this iron skillet I waited 50 minutes for a soup and salad. The place was full and only two waitresses. They were nice but overwhelmed, and of course the soup was cold by the time it arrived. I went back a week later to find that all of the kitchen crew have quit and they were closing the place down entirely. Thursdays and Fridays you're most likely to be treated badly and clearly the management is doing something to make the workers unhappy. There aren't very many choices at this truck stop so I tried iron skillet a second time. That will be the last. read more

First time going here- I won't go back. Walking in we noticed 15 plus people sitting with drinks in front of them waiting for their order. we waited 15 minutes before our waitress showed then didn't get drinks for another 30 minutes. I ordered breakfast at the evening meal: my eggs and hash browns were cold on arrival. charged my husband and I 35 dollars for cold, awful food. I haven't had this happen in a long time. Average Petro restaurant Nothing different from the chain. Open 24/7. The lunch buffet is $10.59 without a drink, which for what I see is a little high. Golden Corral has better selection and is about $2 cheaper. The server is meth head happy now and chirpy she must have plenty of tip money. The food on the buffet is just meh. Nothing fancy. Avoid this truck stop! My experience was very very negative. Simple omelette , hash browns cooked in rancid tasting oil, served cold. Side of cold green beans floating in bacon grease, oleomargarine wouldn't even melt on cold rye bread, coffee was brown "hot water". On the plus side, side salad was cold and fresh. Iced tea had taste. Grilled Swiss cheese sandwich was filling but served cold. And the server never did bring twice requested hot sauce to kill the greasy taste of omelette and hash browns. Bottom line, there are other options at I-70 Kingdom City MO. Chose something else, not Iron Skillet! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is a joke. We eventually just walked out. We are traveling home from St Louis. We stopped in for a quick bite. The lady said she was new like 10 times. We ordered our food and almost waited 20 minutes for just a soup and salad. And another 45 for the main meal that we never got. There were plenty of people there and no excuses for the slow service as well not having any hospitality. I work for the food industry and I know sometimes you just fall behind. It was an all around bad experience. We went to Denny's down the way, still hungry, and were served ASAP, more comfortable, nicer environment, and left our 25% tip. Went last night for the dinner buffet, it was amazing, if I could give more than 5 stars I would... Jennifer our server was awesome; friendly, professional and not over bearing like most places I've gone to in the past month. Food was moist and fresh, not dry or old. I'm an over the road truck driver and frequent Iron Skillet's and Country Pride Restaurant's every week. After 7 years of eating at these restaurants, I can honestly say this location is the absolute worst buffet I've ever experienced. I was there Saturday, Feb 9th for lunch. I got there when they were pulling breakfast and laying out lunch. Now you would think the food would be fresh, but you would be wrong. The roast beef looked and tasted as if it had been under a heat lamp for 24 hours and the broccoli which should have been firm to the bite, was as mushy as oatmeal. This food was not edible!! Looking for a truck stop type restaurant and this was it. Friendly service when we first arrived with the waitress providing g good tips on food. Had a wonderful salad bar; however, the main courses had some issues. Chicken Fried Steak was tasty, but potatoes were cold. Chopped steak was also tasty, but gravy and potatoes were cold. Mac and cheese was also cold. Unfortunately, we didn't see our waitress the rest of the meal. Trying to get down the toad and had a different waitress close out check. The salad bar was not fresh. Someone took an old cucumber that needed to be tossed and sliced it up and threw it in the salad bar and called it good. It was a slimy mess. Stopped in for lunch on the way to KC. Fairly clean, good service. Everyone enjoyed the flavor of their food. The temperature of the food was perfect. The fish basket was very filling for the price. The French toast was also filling and had top notch flavor. I like that if you order water, u get a refill pitcher which they leave with you on the table. They offer a buffet here as well. Much more than it looks, the food here it's remarkable. You can normally get good "home style cooking" at any truck stop restaurant, but this was a level beyond. I was worried about my meal being smaller than the menu picture, but it was surprisingly larger. My biggest complaint is that the soup and salad bar that they claim is famous comes in disappointing portions. The soup isn't bad, a bit on the watery side. The salad ingredients are nice and fresh but there is a small variety in toppings; you get several veggies, 6 dressings, bacon bits, croutons, and sunflower seeds. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it was more than filling. The spaghetti is good and the chicken is fantastic. The breading on the chicken was absolutely perfect, I've never tasted a chicken breast so right. The slice of garlic toast included seemed small but it was a good complement and the garlic wasn't too strong as it often is elsewhere. What you should expect is a large and delicious meal well worth what you pay, be ready for leftovers if you aren't a hearty eater, and don't base your menu choice on whether or not it comes with soup and salad until you check out the salad bar for yourself first. read more
