The cottage cheese must have been frozen and then defrosted. Restaurant is small. Has a mom and pop feel. They have an adequate menu. Prices are also fair. Servers are nice, busy. They only have limited amount of drink choices...Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, lemonade, and water. Food taste is ok. Nothing fancy... kinda bland..I had to add salt and pepper, gravy is a mix, not homemade. Biscuits are not homemade. Not too bad, not great.. it's ok. My grade is a C. read more

Worth the wait. We were here on a very busy Saturday morning. Everyone was friendly. They were slamming busy, so we waited a while for our food. Wow, great breakfast. I like my eggs extra cooked and had to send them back, but no problem. Slightly disorganized - we had to ask for napkins, jelly, and silverware. Driving home from Lake Of Ozarks to Chicago. We found this little gem. We each got breakfast with some eggs, hashbrowns, ham , and we split 1/2 order if biscuits and gravy. Food was amazing. The staff was awesome. Our waiter was always there to fill our coffee. Seems like everybody working there enjoy their job. Highly recommend. We'll go back again if in the area. read more

The sounds of the kitchen echo in this cozy grill. Knocking one-half star off for plastic cutlery and no to-go cups available. That's the only minor gripe though, and when you look at the small-ish bill (I eat a LOT and the bill was still sub-$19) you may not give it a second thought. read more

This is definitely a locals spot! Lots of regulars and lots of staff. They were quick to always fill your cup and check on you. They do take their "Please wait to be seated sign" very seriously though I had the veggie omelet and after seeing someone else's western omelet, I think I made the wrong choice. Mine was extremely oily and the veggies were mushy, whereas, her veggies still had their color and shape. The hash browns are crispy on the outside, but really soft on the inside. The bacon was good and their prices were good. I would love to go back and try their lunch menu the next time we stay downtown. read more

My daughter and myself were taking a mini vacay and staying in holts summit so we visited here both mornings for breakfast before exploring Jeff city & Columbia. The food is great, it comes out pretty fast & Service was just as good but I think I prefer sitting at the counter vs a table to be honest. We will definitely be back next time we visit! read more

What a great find on my way to the lake. We stopped in and all had flat griddle style burgers and fries. Great dinner style food. Saw lots of great reviews on the breakfast items. Hope I am passing by at breakfast time next time on my way to the lake. They were going through a full remodel and i didn't even mind after the great service and food. read more

The Food was very good the waitress went above and beyond to make us happy.. Is but the owner was a real asshat. Not professional at all acted like his poop didn't stink. Chewed his waitress out in front of other staff and customer almost had her in tears. We felt so sorry for her and then the manager said well what did I do and we said you didn't have to chew her out in front of everybody he goes I did nothing wrong. We apologized to the waitress even though it had nothing to do with this and reassured her that we were very happy with her service. Fantastic place for breakfast. Fast friendly service, very good food. Had the western omelette. It was stuffed with lots of fresh veggies that were sautéed to perfection. Plenty of ham and lots of melted cheese wrapped up in a fluffy egg wrapper that was perfectly cooked. The hash browns are perfection, crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and not greasy at all. Served with choice of toast and jelly... Perfect start to the morning. I loved the teamwork of the servers, they keep the coffee moving and don't focus on "their" tables. When the coffee comes around, everyone gets a warm up. Everything was Priced right. Great diner experience, will definitely be back. read more

They sell brain sandwiches here - which I'm intrigued by. However, one time i tried to order a tuna melt and they looked at me like i had lovsters crawling out of my ears and told me they couldn't do that. You sell tuna, you sell grilled cheese...... my friend told me i should have ordered a grilled cheese, add tuna and see what happened. I went back a time or two since then and it was fine... but the lack of willingness to accomodate an easy request annoyed me too much to ever be a regular, despite working right down the road. read more

COVID PRECAUTIONS NOT Happening! Tables are too close together, and allowing bar seating! Masks aren't required of customers! The cook wasn't wearing one! Menus are not being wiped down, tables/chairs and stuff on tables not being disinfected in between customers! The pens used for signing your credit card bill are all in one cup and not wiped down. Then, the jelly containers were put right on top of the food!! The 1 is because the ham n cheese omelet was very tasty. However, the hasbrowns were undercooked and mushy. The service was a bit lacking. Our waitress didn't know who was getting what orders and I watched her try and give it to another table twice and also walked back thru the kitchen before bringing it to us! By then, well you guessed it! The food was lukewarm at best. How people have rated this higher is beyond me but maybe they don't have much to compare it with I realize anything before COVID-19 might not reflect the cleaning issues but honestly as a whole I am not sure it would be much better. Everything was sticky and felt dirty. I have been traveling now for over 60 days and this is by far the worst and I felt uncomfortable. Should have left. Instead, I used my own disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer multiple times and couldn't wait to leave. And honestly, I am not an over paranoid person (hence my traveling). read more

I had a hankering for a diner and the Towne Grill hit the spot. It's only a couple of blocks from the Doubletree hotel, so I set out on foot on a Saturday morning. The place was busy, but not busting at the seems and there was a spot open. I sat at the counter (it is a diner) and had scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a half order of the biscuits and gravy. The hash browns were not overly greasy, which can be a real problem at diners. The eggs were eggs. The biscuit and gravy was good, but not great. Overall, the Towne Grill was exactly what I was hoping for. A good diner meal that didn't make me feel as though I had more grease than blood in my body after eating it. read more

I was briefly employeed by Matt, as a waitress. I worked 2 shifts, during both of which, i was consistantly praised, and told that i really didnt need to be trained at all, & I was turned lose to take tables on my own, right away. This was fine with me, i just mention it, to illustrate that Matt & my co-woekers were very pleased with my performance. I was told Friday that the following day, Saturday, would be very lucrative for me, as Lily would be gone, so i would have her, much more lucrative section. According to Matt himself, he would be training another new waitperson in the secondary "outside" section, as well as assisting the kitchen staff, who were short-handed by two(!!) people that morning. Within an hour of opening, things went south quickly. Matt chose NOT to assist the kitchen, & they got about 10 to 15 minutes behind, in turning out orders. Then, at 8 A.M., on Saturday morning, AT A BREAKFAST DINER, they RAN OUT OF GRAVY. Matt's solution was to tell customers, word-for-word, sorry, I don't have any idea when we'll have gravy. Things got so bad in Matt's "training section", he decided to completely shut down that section, & take some of my tables away from me, to use for "training."...i could go on & on about all the incompetentcy I say Matt display, I could also talk about all the incredibly SHADY things Matt, the owner, was doing, such as taking his staff's tables specifically ao he could take the tips-but i wont waste my/or your time. What I will say is that after all this, Matt still refuses to pay me my hourly wage for the 3 days of hell he put me through, or even let me know when I might expect to receive a check. Its the week of Christmas!! I need that money to Christmas shop for my 2 year-old daughter who's expecting gifts from Santa, as well as paying at least some of my electric bill so they dont shut off my heat on January 3rd. If anyone sees Matt, the owner of Towne Grill, Jefferson City, please inquire as to where he may have placed my paycheck. Thanks. read more

Visited here today with my in-laws who had never been here either. The Towne Grill provided an excellent breakfast at a more than fair price with great small town service and speed of delivery. You might be greeted with a stare or nod from the locals who apparently frequent the diner, but that doesn't bother me in the least. Breakfast was hot, tasty and right sized portions. One of the very BEST breakfasts in this town. Don't get lost trying to find it and parking is always rough. We always enjoy our breakfasts here.
