Irpino Construction just completed a full renovation of my bathroom. The final product is absolutely beautiful. After asking friends and coworkers for referrals in the city I had no luck. I can't say enough great things about Dominic- i bought a condo in a 50's high rise in original condition, and needed the whole thing gutted- I was terrified because I had a tight budget and I'd never done any renovation work. We hired Irpino Construction after having extreme water damage to our condo in the winter. 2/3rds of our condo was down to studs. We lost all walls through the living room, master bedroom, hall, and bathrooms, needed hardwood floors redone, electrical work and on and on. At the same time, we decided to do a complete remodel of our 2 bathrooms. We interviewed 5 companies and Irpino stood out to us as the best fit and we were right! Dominic and his crew were amazing. I hired Irpino to install new flooring in my basement and bathroom. Every step of the process was seamless. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard and kept the worksite clean. I live in an old house and the basement floor was not level due to tree growth underground and they did an outstanding job leveling the floor and putting down tile - hard to believe there was once a giant hump in the middle of the floor. I had a very different experience with this company. We moved to a single family home in River forest and had been interviewing a few contractors. I came across Irpino construction through yelp. And called them. Dominic was very pleasant to communicate with throughout. Funny thing was we later found out that my husband and him went to the same high school. After a couple of meetings - Dominic told us that his partner Charles would come to our house since he lived closer to our house and would give us the estimate, etc. Charles came to our house in mid Nov. He was supposed to give us an estimate after about 10 days or so. We never heard from him. I contacted Dominic and told him about it. He said Charles is traveling and will get back to you soon. And he also told me that you should look for another contractor in the mean time. We are in the mid feburary now. I still don't have any email from Charles. read more

In the past few years, Dominic did extensive, and amazing, renovation work on our Lakeview house. Indeed, there is a detailed Yelp review on that, but Yelp's software has, for some reason, decided not to recommend that you read it, but it's still there, if you dig through the "not recommended" reviews. Anyway, last year, we purchased a second home, a condo in a high-rise by the lake. (In fact, Dominic, who is also a Realtor, handled that purchase for us!) When we were shopping for the condo, my wife and I, and Dominic, of course, noticed things that could stand improvement. Post-sale, we decided to proceed and address these items. And that's a point that needs to be made here: Dominic brings a strong sense of reality and balance to such discussions. He NEVER tries to talk you into things, he never tries to get you to do more than needs to be done, and he is always looking after your pocketbook like it's his money you're prepared to spend on renovations. So, after Dominic convinced us it wasn't necessary -- at least not yet! -- to do some of the work, we had him update the condo and bring it into the 21st century. We re-did a bunch of closets, we removed and replaced lights, and we did some renovations to both bathrooms. On tap for this year is the more serious renovation of the kitchen. As I have said in my prior review, I don't even bother consider using any other contractor. Why would you? Dominic is honest, he cares - both about you and your property - and he is trustworthy. He listens so, so well. He won't rush you. He can be counted on for great ideas, things you would have never thought of. He knows the people you need to get the job done beautifully, and not just his own guys, but the vendors who supply the materials and the specialty subs who do the work. The quality of the work that he will deliver to you is beyond question. His crews are skilled, polite, careful, and quick. He is responsive, to the point where if he can't get to your email during daylight hours, you can expect an answer at 2:30 am. And, his pricing is fair and transparent. Amazing work! I needed some work done on a condo I just bought. They did an amazing job painting, installing ceiling fans, a heat register and crown molding. Clean, respectful, friendly, great communication and even better results. I had a breaker blow while they were working here (totally unrelated to the work they were doing) and they arranged for a electrician to come in an fix everything. Which was awesome since this is my first place and didn't know a good electrician. Also recommended an excellent flooring company to refinish the floors. This is about a year overdue, but better late then never. For the past 9 years we have lived in a huge condo, which was completely rehabbed when we moved in. After working with an awful and incompetent GC, we ended up with a master bathroom, which was not properly built and flooded the unit underneath. We had put in thousands of dollars into repairs, which did not help mostly due to the fact that the building has concrete ceilings and pinpointing leaks is nearly impossible. After not using our master bath for approximately two years and having had three children, we decided to bite the bullet and have the bathroom redone. When I contacted Dominic, I was concerned with two things: 1. would a company of this size take on a tiny bathroom project and 2. is he going to be the same as every single other general contractor I have had to deal with, i.e. money hungry and incompetent.Well, lucky for us, Irpino Construction was neither of those things. They were definitely not the cheapest, but at this point, we have had to learn the hard way that you get exactly what you pay for. The work progressed quickly and we did not feel pushed, rushed or shoved off to the side. There was a concrete timeline and we always knew what to expect. We wanted to save some of the fixtures, such as our sink and vanity and toilet and the workers were very careful with removing these items to ensure they weren't damaged. Every single worker was kind and respectful of the fact that we are a family with small children. Now, whenever I need quiet time - guess where I hide, in my very small, but very cozy bathroom where I don't need to worry about flooding my neighbors! read more
