He took a quick look in her mouth, turned everything of and told us that we cannot go from doctor to doctor and need to stick with one, that he will not do anything because he does not know what was done previously and will not listen to what we tell him was done because we are not medical professionals. He refused to help my mother with the pain, instead recommended a specialist that we can go to (so much for not going from doctor to doctor). From what I understood so called "doctor" Ruben is an incopetent dentist, who had no idea about what to do in a difficult case and also didn't want to bother since it was alomost closing time. I have been going to Dr. Schwartz since 2008. But I moved to Massachusetts and two things happened…read morerecently that made me remember to write this review. I have followed Dr. Schwartz to four different dental offices. Don't worry: This location is his permanent home. He has treated my entire family. My son had to get implants at 13 after he knocked out his two front teeth. He is 30 and those teeth are still there. My husband had gotten caps and I have genetically strong teeth so I get a cleaning and Invisalign. What recently happened is my son was diagnosed with a facial abscess with a fistula tract to face. He was treating it by going to the dermatologist but you may also need to see a ENT doctor or a dentist. I was visiting and he went to bed with a normal face and woke up with his entire left side swollen with most of the swelling by his jaw line. I told my son that despite his protest, I am calling Dr. Schwartz. Dr. Schwartz said come immediately because these things can turn septic (this I already knew). So we did and he examined him, gave him x-rays and called his buddy at another practice to do oral surgery on him the same day. We had three dentist to choose from because he called all of them to see if we could be fit in. My son had dental surgery and his face cleared up and so far, it's been a few months with no flair ups. This issue is hard to treat so we hope the dental work solved it. I haven't had a good dentist in Massachusetts, and I don't have dental insurance. But I went to him for a cleaning anyway. It has been a while and my teeth were suffering but I wasn't shamed or put down in any way. Dr. Schwartz wanted x-rays but decided let's wait because I was getting dental insurance in a couple of months. I appreciated the consideration. So there are all these places that are offering like $400 -$500 and you get two cleanings, plus x-rays and a discount on other work. _Don't bother_. O was considering them. But I can get two cleanings a year from Dr. Schwartz for that price and he is a recognized authority in this field. I chose him in 2008 because he was faculty at Columbia University Dental School. He knows all the latest techniques, is the absolutely nicest guy, and he is so wonderful as a person. Makes you feel so relaxed and plays cool music. Plus his office is on a high floor in the iconic Chanin Building on E. 42nd Street. We will make an appointment when we know we are coming to NYC from now on to see him. I won't let my teeth health lapse again.

Dr. O'mallon is a pediatric dentist, which means he specializes in little mouths and their not-so-little problems. There are other pediatric dentists in the area, but what sets Dr. O'mallon apart is his gentle nature with kids. He truly cares for the dental health and well-being of his patients. I referred my nieces to Dr. O'mallon, and my sister-in-law absolutely loves the office. I had a lot of dental problems as a kid - soft enamel, lots of cavities, excess teeth, etc. My parents searched far and wide for a dentist that I would feel comfortable with AND solve my many, many dental problems. No joke, we went to three or four dentists before being referred to Dr. O'mallon. I am a 30 year old woman, and I still go to Dr. O'mallon. Why? Because he is amazing! And, since I was his patient from when I was a child, he still takes me. He won't take new adult patients, but he will see patients he's treated since they were children. I am so grateful for that! But in this case, I feel it's important to share what happened so others can make an informed decision. I visited this dental office due to discomfort in one of my teeth and was told I needed a root canal because of an infection. I mentioned that I was leaving for vacation in a week and asked if it could wait until I returned. The dentist strongly advised that I get it done immediately due to the infection risk, so I agreed. I had the root canal two days before my trip. While on vacation in another state, I started experiencing severe pain. I ended up having to see an endodontist, paying $600 out of pocket. They confirmed I had a large abscess and were surprised I had not been prescribed antibiotics especially given I had an active infection going into the procedure. Right after my root canal, while checking out, I specifically asked the front desk if I needed a prescription for antibiotics. The receptionist told me no. I trusted her answer, even though I thought antibiotics were usually part of the protocol. While still on vacation, I called the dental office to explain the situation and asked if there was any possibility of compensation, since I had to seek emergency care due to what I believe was a preventable issue. I was told someone would get back to me after speaking with the manager. Three days passed with no response. I followed up and was told the owner was out of the country and would contact me the following week. A week passed no call. I followed up again and was told they were still waiting to hear back from the owner. Eventually, I got a text message stating that symptoms after a root canal are normal with or without antibiotics, and that no refund or credit would be provided. I called back to clarify that I had a known infection before root canal, and the development of an abscess afterward is not normal in that situation. I also reiterated that I had asked the receptionist about antibiotics, and while I understand it's not her role to prescribe medication, she should have confirmed with the dentist before confidently telling me I didn't need any. Worst of all, despite multiple follow-ups, I never heard directly from the manager or owner, even though I was told I would. Instead, I received a dismissive message and no accountability. I had originally planned to return to this office for a crown, but after the poor communication, lack of follow-through, and unprofessionalism I experienced, I won't be going back.

Unfortunately, overtime the service diminished and my experience has not only pushed me not to trust dentist but has caused racially traumatized me. Also, as a women who is black and autistic it made me very anxious. For my first few appointments, which changed on the spot very quickly, became more expensive and were focused on a teeth clean. And fixing a tooth's that was broken. The dental assistant was rude due to me being only 5 minutes late because I got lost and I called "Dana", the office manager, and she said it's ok still try to make it. The assistant fussed while in the back the whole time. Then my next visits were Dr. Zeines seeing cavities and wanting to remove the mercury fillings. Now I was ok with the mercury fillings but the cavities were only suppose to be two but turned into five. These sessions were out of pocket for the cost. The left side appointments were a spur of the moment decision. My actual appointment was suppose to be for a cracked tooth on my right side. I wanted to use my insurance to save on money and this cause the harsh treatment towards me. My insurance would only give so much (which is pretty normal for dental insurance) and when the office saw this they made up excuse to why they couldn't use my insurance. I was told that I didn't have good health insurance and that the work was already stated. The insurance company stated that their images were not well done and they could not see the request the office was asking for. I was yelled at over the phone threatened by Dr. Zeines and "Dana" (which I'm sure is just his wife) that I had to come in due to Dr. Zeines preparing my tooth, that I didn't request and it was my fault I have this insurance (which is very good insurance by the way). "Dana" stated I should talk to the insurance to see if that would help, but yet she states she has had 30 plus years of experience...interesting that someone with that much experience would need help. Dr. Zeines office mistreated me with unprofessional behavior and the dentist I have now had to redo a tooth's he "fixed". Also, I have yet to receive a ADA receipt for all the work done on my even after requesting it on more than one occasion. This is considered illegal under the state of NY. I would suggest if you are a person of color DO NOT go to this dentist. Even if he may be "good" at his job he is not good for people of color and people with developmental disabilities.

I just had to give a shout out to my dentist. I've been going to Dr Rubin since 1986, when I was…read morejust a kid. The whole office is great. They are always running on time, and everyone is friendly and pleasant. Its a very clean, bright office; its small but its very well planned. The office is only 2 blocks from the train station, or if you drive they have 2 spots in their lot , or are only 1 block from the municipal parking lot. On his website, it says Dr Rubin is all about giving you a beautiful smile - well I don't know how he is at restorative, because he's so good at preventative. I've been going to him at least annually, usually bi-annually for 24 years (I'm in my 30's) and honestly, I have a great smile, and I believe Dr Rubin is a big part of that. Having a dentist that I not only trust, but that is pleasant, with a great staff means I don't mind going to the dentist, which means I end up getting great dental care. I've had 4 cavities in my life - each were caught very early, and therefore it really wasn't a terrible process to get them filled. I ending up cracking one (my own fault), getting an infection and needed a root canal. Again, it wasn't a terrible process because I had a great dentist, who took care of it quickly. For big jobs he refers me out - he sent me to a surgeon to have my wisdom teeth out. And when I had to have the root canal tooth redone after a decade, and decided to just get an implant, he referred me to a specialist (who was also really great!) Dr Rubin did pull my tooth himself, and he fit and had the new "tooth" made for me. Seriously - the worst part of the whole process - having the tooth pulled, the implant placed, the fittings, etc - was not being able to drink hot coffee for 3 days. That's how painless the procedures were: that's a good dentist! Cleanings and x-rays are like that too, quick, painless and easy.
