Dr. Zeines and his staff (Miss Michelle and Miss Regina) are the tops in town. They present a fully holistic approach to overall health beginning in the mouth and how that affects every other part of our body. When I say that Dr. Zeines wrote the book on holistic dental care, this is not hyperbole. His book "Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body" was presented to me as a gift upon my first appointment and I read it cover to cover two times to prepare for my follow-up appointment which was more serious in nature. The book gave protocols on how to prepare nutritionally for the required X-rays, as well as important facts on health and nutrition and how to live a long and healthy life, and how our oral health opens that gateway. Dr. Zeines also puts his patients at ease with light-hearted humor. Original story Went into Dr. Zeines office in hopes to receive good service. Unfortunately, overtime the service diminished and my experience has not only pushed me not to trust dentist but has caused racially traumatized me. Also, as a women who is black and autistic it made me very anxious. For my first few appointments, which changed on the spot very quickly, became more expensive and were focused on a teeth clean. And fixing a tooth's that was broken. The dental assistant was rude due to me being only 5 minutes late because I got lost and I called "Dana", the office manager, and she said it's ok still try to make it. The assistant fussed while in the back the whole time. Then my next visits were Dr. Zeines seeing cavities and wanting to remove the mercury fillings. Now I was ok with the mercury fillings but the cavities were only suppose to be two but turned into five. These sessions were out of pocket for the cost. The left side appointments were a spur of the moment decision. My actual appointment was suppose to be for a cracked tooth on my right side. I wanted to use my insurance to save on money and this cause the harsh treatment towards me. My insurance would only give so much (which is pretty normal for dental insurance) and when the office saw this they made up excuse to why they couldn't use my insurance. I was told that I didn't have good health insurance and that the work was already stated. The insurance company stated that their images were not well done and they could not see the request the office was asking for. I was yelled at over the phone threatened by Dr. Zeines and "Dana" (which I'm sure is just his wife) that I had to come in due to Dr. Zeines preparing my tooth, that I didn't request and it was my fault I have this insurance (which is very good insurance by the way). "Dana" stated I should talk to the insurance to see if that would help, but yet she states she has had 30 plus years of experience...interesting that someone with that much experience would need help. Dr. Zeines office mistreated me with unprofessional behavior and the dentist I have now had to redo a tooth's he "fixed". Also, I have yet to receive a ADA receipt for all the work done on my even after requesting it on more than one occasion. This is considered illegal under the state of NY. I would suggest if you are a person of color DO NOT go to this dentist. Even if he may be "good" at his job he is not good for people of color and people with developmental disabilities. read more

I feel pretty sad having to write this, as I very much like Dr Zeines and the staff, but I must relate to the ordeal I've had because of Dr Zeines's work. I hope that it may save someone else from the pain and expense I've been through by going elsewhere or at least thinking twice before you let him do a root canal on you. I went to him, hoping he would be the more natural option, but I was sorely mistaken. I visited Dr Zeines several years ago for a root canal and two crowns. Recently, I found out that the root canal failed in a hazardous way to my health, and this is after both crowns he did for me had to be redone. I didn't realize I had had a low-grade infection for quite some time because of the root canal he performed. The whole process was traumatic and painful, and he did it by hand with little files over two days. He couldn't get it all because he said I had "deep roots". It was unlike the root canal I'd had with an Endodontist in Kingston, which was quick and relatively painless with modern tools. I learned that when he did the root canal he didn't get all of the tissue in my "deep roots" and it had turned necrotic with a significant infection that had formed an abscess in my sinus cavity. For the last year, I've had many mysterious infections and sinus issues on the same side of my body as the root canal, including an eye infection that left my eyesight worse. This is after I found out that he had done "Inlay" crowns instead of "Overlays", which most dentists do, so they fell off numerous times. I had to have my tooth completely rebuilt by another dentist for an overlay crown to be put on, which cracked the tooth and made the root canal the Endodonist did fail because there was nothing left of it from Dr Zeines work of drilling it out for an "Inlay", and so I lost that tooth as well. Last week, I had a painful oral surgery to extract both molars, do a bone graft and fix my sinus. I will eventually get implants and new crowns; all told, it will be $15K of expense and a lot of pain. This is after the thousands paid to Dr Zeines for the root canal and crowns. I requested a copy of my records, and all I got was a text with the dates and procedures performed. I've looked into legal action, but with the money I've spent on all of this, I don't have enough for the retainer several lawyers have requested, so I've given up, taking the loss and moving on. I go to see him. He is down to earth , wears T shirts & jeans and his dental assistant is the best in town. She got me flossing when no other person on earth could, and I still floss . Lets say the office is laid back and not so much on the "professional side" but from the minute I walked in there I was a fan, as he airs on the side of "do nothing if not 100% necessary" . He knows about your teeth bit more important about the health of your body effecting your teeth. Last off he does not focus on $$$ he focuses on helping you and your health and teeth and that is why I went back. My other holistic dentist was all about $$$ and made me nervous. Now I enjoy going to the dentist and my teeth are in better shape. He is very nice and his new office assistant is very nice as well. Don't ever go this dentist. I went for veneers and he shaved down my original teeth so much that the veneers did not adhere and one by one they came off. Imagine after 10k that your teeth fall off. He is a DISGRACE. read more

Several years ago I needed to have a tooth removed that was underneath a fixed bridge. The dentist I first went to said I needed a "surgical flap procedure" to remove the failed root canal tooth. They wanted to cut my gums, drill into my jaw bone, amputate the root and then sew my gums back together. I had had it before. It is EXTREMELY painful after the needles wear off. Dr Zeines said that was completely unnecessary and removed the tooth...from under the bridge without any gum cutting or bone drilling or even pain!!!! It was done within minutes and I went back to work immediately! Yesterday I went to see him because another old root canal (that kind of always bothered me on and off for 12 years) finally started to hurt after the crown fell off while flossing. Again I worried that this would be another gum cutting and stitches experience because the crown had fallen off and there was very little tooth left. It was out within 15 minutes and most of that time was with Dr Zeines being so patient while waiting for the needles to kick in and joking with me to put me at ease.
