A dentist at this office used 10-month-old X-rays to make a referral for a root canal... on a tooth that had already had a root canal just four months ago. That means one of two things happened: she either reviewed the wrong X-rays or failed to ask even the most basic questions about my recent dental history. Either way, that's unacceptable. Because of this, I was led to believe something was wrong with the wrong tooth. Trusting the "expert," I moved forward--only to end up getting a root canal on a completely different tooth that likely just needed a filling. Let that sink in. When I called the office to address this, the front desk staff--who are consistently unfriendly--treated me like I was inconveniencing them just by asking questions about my own care. It gets worse. The dentist called me back and initially doubled down, telling me I was wrong and insisting I had never had a root canal on that tooth. I literally had to explain, "I can feel the crown--I had this done over the summer." Only then did she finally recheck and realize she had been looking at outdated X-rays. Then came the apology. At that point, the damage was already done. Mistakes can happen--but this wasn't a small oversight. This was a chain of errors, poor communication, and dismissiveness that resulted in unnecessary dental work and significant cost. I personally know four other people who used to go here and have since left--and not because of my experience, but because of their own negative ones. This place has a pattern. The dentist did some of the work and then let his assistants work on my teeth. When I left I experienced quite a bit of pain. They told me to come back in for some adjustments. I was told I would be seeing a dentist. When I got there, the dentist said hello and then the assistant worked on my teeth. Again, I left and had pain. I was at the dental office every other day for a month trying to get "the adjustments" fixed so I wouldn't have pain. I have never had to get "adjustments". In my experience, dentists have gotten their work right the first time. My last experience was my final onlay. Again after the onlay was put in I had to get adjustments done cause I couldn't chew without pain. The assistant working on my tooth didn't numb me. She drilled away hitting a nerve. I screamed in pain and tears rolling down my cheeks. I kept telling her it hurt. She said, "I know. I am sorry. I am almost done." It took nearly 3 months for the nerve pain to go away from that tooth. Another tooth continues to bother me. The dentist told me he drilled close to the nerve. He then told me, in 3 months if I still have pain I will need a root canal. Well it has been 5 months. I still can't chew on the right side of my mouth. Why the "F" do I need a root canal after seeing this dentist. I didn't need one before! I didn't even have problems with my teeth before going to this dental office. This dental office also had the audacity to bill me once more after I moved. After they told me I had everything settled. Two months after I moved, they told me my insurance wouldn't cover EVERYTHING. Awesome.. since when I was there they told me my insurance company would pay up to this and this amount. This dentist was so sensitive to patient care as to repeat each of the above points enough times that even the most sleep-deprived apnea sufferer would not fail to remember them. In addition, the persistence of the office staff is commendable. After my insurance told me that no request had been submitted, I called the dental office and was told that they had submitted the pre authorization request that very day just before I had called! A coincidence or a miracle, I don't know, but impressive either way. And what a coincidence again that they just submitted the pre-authorization request again and again just hours before I call -- each and every time. And how awful of my insurance company to pretend that no such requests have been submitted yet. Finally, can you believe there's virtually no research on Google Scholar or PubMed linking stress to sleep apnea? Outrageous that such evidence is hidden from the public. I am so grateful for my great good fortune to have happened upon this dentist with a daughter whose an MD at a prestigious hospital in Boston, as I would otherwise never have come upon this revelation. The 15 minute information-packed session came at the low price of $195. A small price to pay for medical opinions that one can't find anywhere in medical journals, family phone calls with prestigious doctor daughters in Boston and office assistants with specialized training in insurance billing who have miraculously just submitted your pre-authorization requests moments before you call them every time.
