There was rain on Saturday that would affect the solution he uses for cleaning, and he communicated very well about when would be best for the weather to arrive. David explained what he was going to do, and then he did it. It took about an hour, and when he was done the fence did not look like it had ever been spray painted. In the past I have tried to remove the graffiti myself, but I could never get it all off and I slightly damaged the wood while doing so. The fence is unscathed by David's cleaning. I would highly recommend him-- Provisional, friendly, communicates well, and does what he says he'll do.

Jay Kushner an arrogant twit with a temper…read more We wanted a structural engineer to evaluate the bouncy floor joists under our first floor bath. Jay charged a fee (over $200) but then refused to provide us with a written recomendation or evaluation. Instead, he gave us an estimate for HIM to do the repairs using (conveniently) custom made bracing materials that only he has. Never once did he say that he would be charging us a fee so that he could tell us that only HE could fix it. How sleezy. After some back and forth where Jay displayed both his temper and his further lack of professionalism, we found another contractor who cheerfully provided an estimate (free) and solved the problem perfectly. Jay showed his pettiness by belitting and deriding the other contractor (who had nothing to do with our dispute with Jay). Maybe Jay knows his engineering - but ethics and civility are something he is clearly lacking. He is condecending and completely dissmissive of anyone who may question him. Just like I wouldn't trust a car dealer, I wouldn't trust Jay Kusher to do anything for us again.

Several years ago as a young, first-time home buyer I had just purchased a 1925 house in Portland…read moreand had Mr. Kushner do a "seismic retrofit" and other work on the foundation at significant expense. Things were friendly with him at first but after I had raised some questions about other work that the foundation needed that perhaps he might perform first (note here I intended to pay him) he said gruffly, "You already signed the contract." And directed me to documents included with the contract about liens against owners. Fair enough. But several years later I asked another contractor to repair some coating work Kushner had done on the foundation and after a cursory inspection he responded that the foundation's original construction had employed Willamette River sand and was too crumbly to receive a coating of the sort Seismic Technologies employed. In fact all of the gussets and bolted stays and anchors that Kushner had installed at a multi-thousand dollar price tag, given the condition of the foundation, were almost totally useless since in the event of a tremor the foundation would liquefy. In other words Kushner was either incompetent or negligent to not have recognized this negligent or he was maliciously taking advantage of a naive client. I would never employ him or his company again nor would I recommend his services to anybody else.
