There seem to be pockets of homeless scattered throughout the city and for some reason they like hanging around in front of the bus stop near my work. Shopping carts, bags and boxes of shit in front and back of my workplace... sometimes I have people just taking a nap on the walkway, in the middle of the day. Really?! So far, the police have been cool about getting rid of them (at least temporarily) and dealing with them if and when they get crazy. More frequent patrols in the area to provide a stronger police presence would be great though.

I will forever feel gratitude to that policeman and his partner (it may have been his supervisor) who zoomed over to help us when I called about our life or death situation. The whole thing gives me the chills. But the bottom line is that SMPD saved a life. I appreciate the fact that SMPD is pretty open with interacting with the community, which goes a long way to develop trust. They have "open house" events like at Christmas and other occasions where you can chitchat with them. It goes a long way to ease any tensions and show that they are decent human beings. SMPD seems to attract high quality people to the force and whoever is running the show does a great job. SMPD is a top notch police department.

The cops parked their rig on the street in front of the Donut Man but its length blocked King's drive. When I hit the horn to alert them that I was attempting to leave a guy (cop ?) approached me arguing they have horses in the trailer and that fact gives them the right to stop there or something just as incomprehensible. I quickly explained they were blocking the entrance to a commercial business and no amount of horses will excuse suck conduct. When the guy continued to argue with me I finally ask did you guys become entitled pricks after becoming cops or did you bring that offensive personality to the job. Finally a lesser prick moved the rig so I could leave.

I will stop and take more pics of them sitting on all four corners of traffic light tops this coming week soon. It's just what a sight to see so many of them here all gathered around in one corner from the 'City of Duarte.' I could have sworn but, I think they could be all Pigeons and none Mourning Doves which this bird species can be spotted more from the 'City of Arcadia.' But the 'City of Duarte,' also neighbors the 'City of Arcadia!!!! When I feel like playing switch offs, I would drive either here or Old Town Monrovia more frequently than Baldwin Park or San Gabriel (which I used to drive to a lot as well). Will be back soon!

The cars and everything inside them were gone. The officers at the desk were professional, attentive, and took the situation seriously from the start. A special thank you to Officer Huerto and Detective Hopkins for their professionalism and for making it clear this is being treated as what it is: grand theft auto. I'm not interested in making an insurance claim -- I want the people responsible for this kind of operation identified and prosecuted so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
