I received flowers for my birthday and they were the most beautiful and exotic arrangement I have ever received. Everyone that saw it in my office loved it. The detail placing of each rose and orchid was breath taking. I had to call and find out where the arrangements was from because I will definitely will be using them going forward. I ordered my wedding bouquet and my husband's boutonniere from Irys Florist and they did an excellent job. We had a small and intimate wedding st City Hall so I wasn't looking for something huge. I was overwhelmed by the prices quoted to me by other NYC florists that I found on the Internet but fortunately I dropped by Irys Florist a week before my wedding since I happened to be in the neighborhood and a friend suggested it to me. I asked about a bouquet and I was quoted a price that was very reasonable, so I decided to go for it! The hours aren't great if you're trying to get there after work and you don't have a 9-5, but the plants are beautiful and reasonably priced. The employees (owner aside) aren't very knowledgeable, but they look everything up and always say to take a photo and bring it in if something goes wrong. It doesn't feel like a crapshoot, buying a big plant (or any plant) from a small store like this. It feels like insurance--I can go ask them for help anytime! read more

Monika was so amazing during my whole wedding process. I don't know much about flowers and had several guests with very sensitive allergies. I was also on a budget so wanted something in season during October. She was incredibly helpful in giving me a list and samples of flowers, as well as helping us pick ones we could easily put together ourselves. She met with us several times and ended up selling us bulk flowers as well as doing our bouquets. They were really beautiful and done on - time and in great quality and freshness. When we first started looking for florists, we found many to be rude and almost as if they didn't want our business with our budget. I highly recommend going to Monika for any occasion. Irys usually has the best selection and the freshest flowers in Greenpoint. I've tried out other florists in Greenpoint and most places don't compare. I will say World of Flowers on Manhattan Ave (@ Huron) is second to Irys and if you live closer to that one, go there. But the flowers I get from Irys always seem to surprise me on its longevity. read more

I live in the neighborhood, so I pop in here to get flowers every so often. They don't tend to have any cheaper grab and go bouquets, but if you ask and give a price range, they'll quickly toss something great together. I can't find words to describe how beautiful my wedding bouquet was and the bouquet for my bride's mate. I didn't want anything too big or too bulky and I got exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful bouquet matching my simple dress just perfectly. I also ordered flowers for my hair and my hair stylist was impressed with the freshness and preparation. The flower bouquet was terribly ugly she picked the flowers and just tied them together. Some of the flowers died in 10h.

I stopped in to beat the Mother's day rush (last yr there was a long line). Service, selection, and prices were all great. I got some potted plants and they told me how to care for them, and wrapped them up beautifully. Prices are great. Especially compared to come other places that wante $35+ for a tiny plant. Here, I got one medium sized and one small sized for about $20. Can't be beat!! read more

So yesterday was my Birthday, I'd like to thank my sister for wasting her money on this years floral arrangement from this Florist. What a disappointment from last year. They are not a cheap florist either!!!! I sent a picture to my sister and told her that I was happy she got me flowers but to look at the half dead flowers that were sent to me. There were five pink roses that we're turning brown and yellow in certain spots, some little white flowers that look like they haven't had water all day and a lot of greenery to make up for the missing flowers that she asked to have put in the bouquet and paid $$$ for what she thought she was getting for me & I did not get. I myself will never buy from them ever again and I have told my sister, family and friends to stop going there as well. People work hard for their money and if they're going to waste it ( without knowing it) on sending flowers that are half dead from this florist, then I will prefer to go out to dinner with that money next time. You just lost our business but I'm sure you don't care. They look worse today!!!!!! read more

I ordered my wedding flowers (bouquets, church flowers and boutonnieres) from Irys Florist. I chose Irys because they were highly recommended. However, I was very disappointed with the flowers provided. I gave Monika a picture of exactly the kind of bouquet I wanted, and we discussed the details in the shop (a red rose fan bouquet). What was delivered the day of my wedding was completely different! The only thing that was the same was the fact that the bouquet was made of red roses. The bouquet that arrived was so large that my aunt had to scramble to reassemble it last minute so that I could hold it comfortably all day - even still, it was over a foot long (after my aunt cut it about 6 inches and removed a third of the roses, I am not exaggerating). On the plus side, the flowers were beautiful, and they lasted all day, and the baskets at the church were breathtaking. It's a shame that the bride and bridesmaid bouquets were so off - I would take responsibility for the miscommunication, if I hadn't left a detailed picture! I think this flower shop does a great job with traditional flowers, but maybe I should have gone somewhere else for my creative bridal bouquet. read more
