The process was so painless resulting in rich, warm and inviting wall colors. Jennifer also drew up a plan to create an office space for me. It's so special, like my private clubhouse. Plus, she's creating a warm and unique living area for us by using some of our old furniture and adding new furniture, carpet, and window coverings. Jennifer has a positive attitude that's contagious. Communication is timely. I love her honesty. She has a talent for blending items that were my grandmother's with more contemporary pieces and visa versa by finding antiques that add style and warmth to new purchases. To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed with the thought of creating a home that reflected our tastes without taking years to do it. I wanted Jennifer to kick me out of my rut with fresh ideas yet help create a home that still felt like "me". The result is beautiful. At the start of the project, Jennifer walked the area with me, inquired about my preferred color palette and asked about the budget. Once she had those facts, she quickly pulled together 3 different concepts that leveraged my existing furniture. I was amazed that Jennifer could take the limited information I gave her and turn it into a fabulous concept. Once we agreed on the new pieces, she handled the ordering, delivery and installation like a professional. From start to finish the project was perfect. Jennifer was also instrumental in a redesign of my guest bedroom. Jennifer met with me, toured the room, took measurements and established my budget. She carefully incorporated pieces that I owned and loved and amped up the design with carefully selected linens, furniture and finishing touches. While Megan and Rachel are wizards at design and listening to client's personal styles, it is important to note that their services go beyond simple aesthetics. They were incredibly involved with the physical design of the space, which included frequent communication with our construction company and subcontractors, ensuring that everything was accomplished according to the plan. This included but was not limited to: designing lighting plans; meticulously designing and measuring cabinetry, and then working with the cabinet maker and subs to ensure a correct fit; swooping in to fix address all the issues, from fixture placements to counter heights to wall lengths. Their attention to detail along the way was truly astounding and their knowledge of home workmanship is unmatched. There was never a problem they couldn't fix or an issue that they couldn't untangle. I know without a doubt that our project would not be as amazing as it is without them. Fox and Fern is an amazing team and I cannot wait until I have another project so I can work with them again. However, we assumed that Stephanie would provide us with an overview of the process with timelines and what to expect in order to work with our move-in goals. She never provided any sense of targets or timelines, which left us unsure how things worked, when we were supposed to reach out to her, and when we should expect to receive mock ups of designs/options. There was overall really poor communication and we tried to address this. Eventually, at some point, she decided that we were not a good fit as client and designer and even mentioned she had a feeling this would not work the moment she stepped into our home originally. In that case, we wish she would have told us that earlier instead of bringing us on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. We later got some very harsh and cold emails from Kami accusing us of sending bad checks, when in reality, our materials had gotten mixed up as we were moving, and would have been able to rectify things if they had communicated properly with us when we first sent over the payments. Honestly, just looking at the way she responds to comments on Yelp (in addition to her communication over email) shows how she lacks professionalism and basic empathy. Perhaps, we just had a bad experience, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a super friendly business for people of color, particularly with a desire to integrate some of their cultural elements into the design, or for people new to the interior design process.
