From the very start of beginning the process of finding the right AC system, Emmanuel was extremely responsive to all texts and messages, at basically all times of the day. I had a million inane questions and concerns; he answered all of them. We narrowed the list to three 5-ton options. The most expensive one was of my choosing, an American Standard unit, and the other two were a Rheem and a GrandAire (which I hadn't heard of before, it's a subsidiary of Carrier). He recommended strongly that I go with the cheapest one, the GrandAire. He was absolutely correct! It saved thousands of dollars, and it works extremely well. He added a new Nest thermostat, as well. I couldn't be happier. The [minimum 2-year] warranty that he backs up his work with has to be one of the best. Avoid. Get a Second Opinion Before Spending a Dime. Island Breeze came out for what I hoped would be a straightforward service visit on my 9-year-old Carrier HVAC system. In the last, when the system was not cooling, we required replacement of refrigerant and nothing more. What I got instead were quotes for a full system replacement -- $7,850 or $8,750 for a new unit -- and a $1,250 estimate for a coil/blower deep clean. Their technician essentially told me the system was done and needed to go. I was skeptical. A 9-year-old Carrier is not an old system. I called a second company. Lombardi. The second technician found no structural issues with the HVAC whatsoever. He added refrigerant ($200) and performed a dye test ($140) to locate a leak. He also discovered that a vent in the master bedroom had become disconnected from the ductwork -- a completely separate issue that Island Breeze either missed entirely or chose not to mention. That disconnected vent was the reason the upstairs master wasn't cooling properly. After the second company's visit, the house cools better than it has in years. Total cost: $340. Island Breeze was steering me toward $8,000-$9,000 in unnecessary work that wouldn't have even fixed the real problem -- because the root cause was a detached duct, not a failing HVAC. This is either gross incompetence or a deliberate upsell strategy. Either way, it's unacceptable. Do yourself a favor: get a second opinion before authorizing any major work with this company. read more

Had a tricky project that others were reluctant to take seriously. One of the largest AC Installers sold me a replacement unit 2 years ago August, and because of the HIGH demand at that time ( they were the only company in the area that could get me a unit in less than 4 weeks) I went with them. However they sent me a NIGHTMARE of an installer ( probably also because of the HUGE demand at the time and a shortage of qualified people) who half assed the job and made a mess of it. Bottom line, inside unit leaked condensation everywhere, couldn't use a filter, resulting in fouled coil, freezing and nothing but headaches for the last two summers.
