She spent a great deal of time walking us through all our air conditioning options for our vacation rental, Hale Ohana, in Poipu. She patiently answered every question and helped us feel confident that we were choosing the best system for our needs. On April 2nd, David and Shawn came out for the first installation, and we've already received wonderful feedback from our guests. Then on June 4th, they returned to complete the full-house install. Island Comfort installed a split A/C condenser with three controllers for us in 2022. As part of the purchase they gave us three years of "free" annual maintenance. As the years passes they did the maintence each year. After the free maintenance time elapse they then said it should be serviced every six months in the Kauai environment at about $500 per service. When we visited our condo we found the condenser to be obscenely filthy. Long story short, we ended up paying another company $2000 to come out and service the system, getting it running efficiently, because we could not get on their schedule for three months. Because the system had become so inefficient, due to the lack of proper servicing, our electric bills had increased by 50% over time. I would avoid this company. read more

We got a special Black Friday diagnostic offered through CostCo. The technician arrived a little later than scheduled but we were kept informed as to his new arrival time. When he arrived, he was very knowledgeable, cordial and respectful. I believe he did a thorough examination and gave us an honest evaluation of our 20 year old system and an honest opinion of what needed to be done to have a fully functioning unit. My husband and I live in Eleele and anyone familiar with Kauai knows what that means! We've been wanting AC since we bought our house in 2018, but could never pull the trigger due to cost (both upfront for the AC units and installation, and the cost of electricity). With global warming turning our weather whack - I mean it's hot as hell in January! - we made it one of our goals to get an AC this year (2022). The day we happened to talk about it, we went to Costco and Island Comfort had a pop-up. My husband talked to the rep, who made a consultation appointment for a free estimate the very next day (Monday). Monday morning Patrick (who's like a dispatch or something), called and let me know that Rocky would be by around 12, making sure the time was okay. He then let me know that they would give me a heads up as the time got closer, which they did. When Rocky got here I showed him where we hoped to have the units and also rattled off a list of questions my husband had. He answered every question I threw at him with ease. He gave us his suggestion of products to meet our cooling needs and then proceeded to give me a quote. We agreed to the quote the next day (Tuesday) and got our AC installed today (Wednesday)! WHOOP WHOOP. Edwin, the electrician, got here at 8:45 a.m. and started on his portion of the job before the other guys, John, Lee, and Ola, got here around 9, when they said they would be here. As they were setting up, an issue came up with placement, and they asked if we would be okay with putting a hole through the trim around our door. I couldn't get ahold of my husband, and somewhat freaked out, but they told me we had some time and that they'd set up while we waited. But, as they talked me through the issue (basically it wouldn't be aesthetically pleasing), Ola came up with a solution to conceal all the wires and whatnot, as much as possible. Can't say how much we appreciated this. They were all very nice, professional, and worked amazingly well together as a team. I was in my makeshift office most of the time, but from what I did see, I was quite impressed. When the installation was complete, John and Lee cleaned up and Ola walked my husband and me through our new units, the remote, and the condenser. He also gave us great customer service. SERIOUSLY, don't frickin' know what the hell we waited so long for. This was one of the best decisions we have ever made. As an FYI, we did have some issues with the condensation line leaking when we ran our AC... so we had to have two separate techs come out to fix it. However, Island Comfort was really great about resolving our issues in a timely manner. We really appreciated that! They are so easy to work with, so glad we went with Island Comfort! read more

Let me be honest in being clear we are NOT and will never be clients of Island Comfort. Simply because we don't like to be insulted and treated like idiots. Rocky the estimator showed up with laminated sheets with pricing such as per hour labor charge - although that's supposedly included in the quote anyway, and warranty options. After 20 or so minutes at our house he presented us with a hand written "quote" which he wouldn't even let us keep. When I told him I'm honestly sticker shocked and asked to have it emailed properly with a breakdown so I can compare our options, he responded they don't do that but that the info will be in their system that I, as a potential customer don't have access to anyway, ha-ha. I further inquired as to which AC model(s) he priced for us and his response was that he doesn't have the info. Seeing people have been reviewing him as the company's estimator since 2019 I assumed by now he must know all the ins and outs of all of the 11 different Lenox models currently produced. (Apparently he's been able to get by with his smile and charm...?) So to summarize our experience, he expected us to pay the price of a used automobile based on a hand scribble. Not us. Not today. Every single person we dealt with was responsive, professional, polite and provided excellent customer service. Rocky was able to promptly visit us at our property, answer ALL of our questions patiently, provide a quote and connect us to the office staff within 48 hours. Within 10 days our split-system was installed by a polite, professional, and considerate crew and here we are. Of course, the air conditioning was and is AMAZING... but can we talk? Ever since posting my first review, there was a new worker assigned to our case and she has been so extremely helpful in making sure things got done. Whenever experiencing an issue, she was quick to respond and the company would send out technicians as soon as they were available. The technicians were extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and if they felt something needed further investigation they would send someone in that department. Never been a fan of posting things, however feel should read this before making a large investment. Most of the employees of Island Comfort have been great and professional. However the owner "Rocky"' is not. It's been a few months now and my unit in my master bedroom has intermittently making a loud noise that has woken my wife and I up a few times. I recorded the noise and sent it to them. In September 2022, A few weeks after I reported the issue, Rocky and a tech came to look at the unit. I had both of them also listen to the video recording of the unit making noise. Tech looked at the unit, gave some recommendations and was very professional. Rocky on the other hand had the audacity to tell me that maybe my wife and I have sensitive ears...wtf!!! After I made it known to Rocky and tech that Rocky's comment made me upset, he walked out, without even an apology, and has still not apologized for his comment. Now this same unit is literally dripping water onto my wall and hard wood floor. Just sent Island Comfort a video recording of the water coming down from the unit. Rocky would probably say that my wife and I are sensitive to moisture. I have had several people ask me about AC and have recommended other companies, not Island Comfort, specifically because of Rocky, the owner. read more

We called on June 16th due to leaks from our AC unit and were told that the soonest a technician can come is June 26th. About 3 months ago I was in the market to have an AC system installed in my home. I called a local AC company and was told that they were busy and that they will have someone contact me for an appointment. After waiting for a month, I decided to call Island Comfort after my wife's coworker highly recommended them for her installation. I got a quick response by Island Comfort and scheduled an appointment for an estimation. Originally, I was wanted to have a ductless ac system installed in my master bedroom located on the second floor for my wife. I met with the Rocky, appraiser/ installer as scheduled. He was very knowledgeable about his products and personable. No high pressure to buy from him. He recommended what size ac unit I needed for the master bedroom, where the compressor will be located, and different brands they sell with a price quote. Best of all, they offer reasonable financing to make it affordable that I opted to have the living room area AC with a larger system. We set a date for February 15, 2020 for installation. Rocky and his installation crew arrived on time at 8 am. I missed read a message and thought they would come in at 10 am. My bad, we were still sleeping when they arrived! The installers were understanding and quickly went about with their business. I was impressed how fast they were able to install the two ac units, the running ac tubing and electrical wiring through the attic, installing the compressor on the ground floor, and the running a system check of the system. They were done by 1 pm. The work crew worked well as a team. They were cleaned up the work area and were helpful in answering questions. The compressor is very quiet. I don't need to worry about my neighbor complaining about the compressor noise. My family is totally enjoying the comfort of AC. I simply emailed them at their website to request to be taking off their mailing list since I live on a different island, Oahu. I get a reply that was all in CAPS stating that they have offices on other islands and boasted that they own a home in Kaneohe. ...So we did ask Island Comfort to install TWO more air conditioners, on a shared condenser, and again their work was superb. Then came an interesting wrinkle. The new units have a "Dry" function, separate from "Cool", to reduce humidity while keeping room temperature steady. This was winter so we didn't need much cooling, but to keep books and other absorbent things from getting soggy we ran Dry in closed rooms for several nights. Disappointment. Humidity persisted. Island Comfort's owner, Ken, promised, "We'll do whatever it takes to make this work for you," and he meant it. Technicians tested the system and the mystery deepened: Sometimes Dry worked, sometimes it didn't. Finally, master troubleshooter Nathan studied the situation, ran more tests, and even called the manufacturer's engineers. He learned that on this equipment, Dry stops dehumidifying, by design, when the temperature outside is 64 degrees or lower. Why? Who knows? But now that we know the fact, we can easily work around it. Ken kept his promise. All it took was the attention, skill, persistence, and integrity of everyone at this fine company. We just can't recommend Island Comfort highly enough - if we could give 10 stars we would! As others have mentioned, we decided we didn't want to go through another summer without AC. Additionally I have mold allergies and wanted a system that also had air purifying and dehumidification capabilities. We were extremely frustrated with some of the first companies we called. It took them weeks to call us back and then weeks to get a bid only to find that they left out half the things we asked for. Then we were referred to Island Comfort and what a different experience! They called back promptly and made a timely appointment to come give us a bid. Rocky, the estimator, showed up on time, listened to our needs, and gave us a proposal the same day that covered every single one of our needs and was by far the best price we had received. It was very helpful that Rocky knew in advance of the strict requirements our HOA has for AC installations and was able to work within them. Over the next few weeks as we did more research Rocky and Mark patiently answered our questions. When we were ready to start, Mark worked closely with our HOA & the County to get all of the required permits - making it really painless for us! Jeff & Rocky came to do a job walk-through so that we were all in sync prior to work beginning. On the day of our installation Jeff, the very wonderful onsite installation supervisor, and his team (David, Brian & Will) showed up on time, worked hard and left our place spotless! I had told Jeff earlier that I have asthma so they tarped everything and were really conscientious about containing dust. Although our installation was supposed to take 2 days they wound up finishing in one. We had 3 mini split zones installed - living/dining room, master and guest bedroom. They were able to use our crawl space in a way that we have no dry wall repair needed and everything looks neat and professionally done. If there was any glitch - and this wasn't their fault - the company that supplies the iWave air purifiers that we ordered to work with the system sent the wrong ones, so they weren't able to be installed at the time of the mini splits. This wasn't a huge deal as they were an add on and didn't affect the units working in the meantime with their regular built in air filters. However as soon as the correct ones arrived less than one week later Jeff came right over and installed them. I should also add that of all the bids we received - not only did they have the best price they also have the best warranty with 5 years labor (everyone else offered 1-2) and 12 yrs parts. Plus they provide a free annual deep cleaning of the system for 3 years. These are honest, hard working folks who do a great job at a great price and seem to really care about their customers' satisfaction. If you need AC you will not find anyone on Kauai better than Island Comfort! read more
