We are vacationing on AMI and we love this place. They sell daily fresh seafood and have a really nice shop with spices, dips, wine, crackers, bread, etc. The ladies are all very friendly and helpful and can suggest ways to make your meal. We have purchased shrimp, both raw and steamed and it was delicious. We also purchased fresh grouper and snapper to fix ourselves. Quaint little place! Check them out! read more

So happy to find this place on our most recent visit. Picked up on our first night. I did not get any pictures because we were focused on getting the kids their food. My boys loved the Shrimp Bowl and the chili pepper was not to spicy for them (they do enjoy and are used to trying or eating spicy things). My wife and I split the salad and Cuban and both were delicious. The bread they used on the Cuban was perfect. My wife went back later in the week (they had told us that later in the week they have more options) and picked up a bottle of wine, fish dip and Key Lime Pie. The dip was fresh and good quality. My wife is a huge fan of Key Lime Pie...I will eat it but won't typically order. This Key Lime Pie I would order. It was so good. We will definitely eat in the restaurant next time and wish them the best! read more

A great local place, it has great food and a great source of seafood and great place for a local gifts. I got some blueberry lavender jelly for a gift made locally. got some steamed jumbo shrimp which were wonderful. also had to go of some clam chowder which was outstanding. I also got some killer fresh asparagus when I was there. they have the ability to get a special to go meal twice a week that you have to order and pay for advance but it's really great I had the shrimp Diane which was really wonderful. Plenty of grocery items that you might need for making seafood. They also had really good covid-19 protocols all the staff were masked and the customers are masked as well. read more

Was in search of a good island seafood market. What we found was a GREAT one! Their fresh seafood on ice looked amazing and thus we bought some red snapper, which is often hard to find. That night we baked the fish, and it was out of this world! We also bought their Mediterranean Key Lime Seasoning and used some before baking the snapper. They make a variety of seasoning mixes to sell. I must try other blends! In the front of the shop, they have very pretty local crafts for sale and a gorgeous collection of worldwide wines, as well. I'll be adding this to my regular shopping stop when visiting the island. read more

Got some terrific fish and some provisions and surprisingly good wine! We got fillet of snapper snd grilled it. Super fresh. Fresh gulf caught shrimp. Same Tuna was excellent and deep red colour. Picked up some fresh red snapper one night to grill for dinner and WOW. This fish was so good! We also grabbed one of their seasonings, specifically the Sanibel seasoning that was recommended by the two very nice women working in the store. I would bathe in this seasoning if I could. Lastly, we grabbed one of the crab cakes to go as well and that was also so delicious. Can't wait to come back on our next trip here. read more

I have supported this market for years. Great salads and dips, decent pricing on local fish. But the service needs work. I called at 5:20pm. And asked for shrimp peeled and deveined. They said "no, we close at 6pm." It shouldn't take them past closing time of 40 minutes and I would think a small business would want the purchase. We were on AMI last week for Thanksgiving. On our second to last day, I realized we hadn't had our fill of peel and eat shrimp and we'd walked past Island Fresh multiple times. Since it was black Friday, I didn't expect anyone to answer but called them on a whim to see if they were open. To my surprise, someone (I wish I caught her name, presumable the owner) answered and said they weren't planning on being open but one of her boats had fresh fist so she opened for a few hours to accept the delivery. Hearing this, I was more intrigued than ever. I got there and she was still sorting out some logistics with her equipment following the hurricane but overall the store was in great shape. I asked about shrimp and said I wanted the best for our last day. She went to the back and reappeared with some giant pink shrimp but they were raw. "No problem" and she steamed them right there on the spot. There is a wide choice of seasoning but I chose the standard Old Bay. I also grabbed 6 Stone Crab Claws on a whim as I've never tried them before and my family had been raving about them. I'm picky about cocktail sauce and their house sauce was amazing (but not quite as amazing as yours, dad). I got some Champagne from Time Savers Liquor and returned to our rental house. We had the most amazing impromptu lunch poolside. The quality of the seafood was outstanding and there was literally no vein on the shrimp. I've always had P&E shrimp ice cold but it was a pleasant change of pace having them warm out of the steamer. They were more similar to lobster than other peel and eats I've had in the past. The stone crab claws were outstanding too. The store had a huge variety from Bud Light, to wine, to steak, to local seafood, to not so local salmon she stocks for some old-timers on the island. It wasn't cheap but the quality was worth it and I'll definitely be back. Now I'm hungry thinking about this experience. read more

Nancy and her crew have provided us with fresh fish, a couple times a week, for years. They have local fresh fish like grouper, but also have imported Norwegian salmon much better than you get at Publix, Fresh Market or Detweiler's (all of which have decent seafood). They also have locally made desserts and a selection of foods for take out. Great place! read more

The ladies at the market are all excellent at helping you make your seafood selections. During our week period, we have tried Pinks and gulf shrimp, lobster, and scallops. All fresh. Caught the night before. We also tried their homemade cocktail sauce which was exceptional. There are no guarantees as they purchase directly from area commercial fishermen. You might have grouper today and red snapper tomorrow. read more

We love this place! We stayed here for a week and ate fish and fresh veggies from this market four nights out of our week. The owners are very friendly and make wonderful suggestions for spice pairings, etc. they have a great beer and wine selection as well. Don't forget to try the Lowcountry boil! We had the crab cake sandwich and they were nice enough to make our kids some pressed ham and cheese sandwiches. It's slightly on the expensive side for the size of the crab cakes; we were still hungry after we ate our Crab cake sandwich and we're pretty average sized people lol the tarter sauce was amazing and the crab cakes were good. If you're really craving some, this is a good option. They also sell fresh seafood to prep at home... along with fresh veggies and a lot of frozen options. Island Fresh Market has a great selection of fresh seafood items, specialty spices, condiments and more. They have fudge and vegan fudge too, which looked really tasty. We bought the freshly made crab cakes, organic tomatoes and black seaweed salad. We pan fried the crab cakes for dinner and they were very moist and full of flavor! We LOVED their crab cakes! They went well with freshly squeezed lemon juice drizzled on them and a little cocktail or tarter sauce. Tip: bring a cooler to keep your seafood cold in your hot car ride home. I look forward to going there again and picking up more crab cakes and seeing what other great food they have! Everything was excellent. For a family beach house dinner for 18, I ordered steamed shrimp and crab cakes with remoulade sauce, and was very pleased. The crab cakes came air fried ready to serve or reheat in oven. The house steamed shrimp arrived on a platter with sauce ready to serve, and was fresher and tastier than the grocery store shrimp platters. I highly recommend this Market. read more

So many positive reviews. And yet when I purchased +$100 of 'fresh' seafood on April 5, 2021 it was soooo disappointing. To her credit, the store attendant tried to steer me to the salmon (?!?) or swordfish, but I purchased grouper. She did assure me it was very fresh. But when I got home 5 minutes later and opened the bag the stink was just horrible. Fish went straight into the trash. I cannot imagine selling someone such wretched smelling seafood or how it was in their display in the first place, but it doesn't matter. I will not return. Inspect your purchase in the store if you do. The pint of frozen scallops were fine. read more

We've been customers here for several years when we vacation in Holmes Beach. The service is always friendly and helpful. This year we bought local shrimp and grouper and red snapper, a total of 3 visits in a week! There was 4-5 fish choices. We had the shrimp steamed so we could just grill it at home with no mess or smell. All the seafood was very good and tasty. The shop seemed clean and there was NO smell. We'll be back! read more

Very cute market inside. The prices are astronomical and the food was less than desired. We got gumbo and clam chowder. Both were the blandest we have had. Stopped in to check out their offerings of fresh fish. What a lovely spot, right on Anna Maria Island very close to our rental. We bought a piece of fresh red snapper, crab/corn chowder (that the owner had just finished making, it was still warm), small container of their "smoked fish spread" and one piece of their key lime pie. All I can say is that we will be returning. The fish was so fresh & lovely. The soup, delicious (& I am a soup snob), the fish spread ~ awesome not too smoky w/just the right seasonings, not over-powering. Served them on some very thin rosemary crackers and I had to refrain myself from eating the slice of pie and not sharing it w/my husband. Well done. read more
