We got to the host stand, and the woman was incredibly kind and helpful. Our server Griffin was super attentive and fun, he gave a ton of recommendations and we ordered almost everything he mentioned. Trust me this place did not disappoint! They have made grouper my new favorite fish and the portions were so much bigger than I expected! My only regret is that we didn't order the fried shrimp like Griffin suggested because I saw it come out and I had to pick my Jaw up off the floor. Truly the best experiences I've had since I got to Florida. This place should be on the Michelin guide. The owners should be proud of their employees, hospitality and food! OH AND ALSO, beautiful view!! Definitely sit outside! They had fans outside too so even though it was hot out we felt nice and cool!

The baked beans may honestly be the best I've ever had--big chunks of bacon and all sorts of goodness packed into them. Seriously, don't overlook the beans! The grouper bites are a must-order--crispy, fresh and delicious. The mahi tacos were equally impressive, with fresh fish, great flavor and generous portions. Great seafood, cold drinks, beautiful waterfront setting and the kind of place you could hang out at all afternoon. One piece of advice: there's only one men's room and one women's room, so maybe don't drink too much. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to.

I loved Detwiler's so much! i'm back in virginia now and miss it…read more Detwiler's gives out a lot of samples from--cheese, pizza, cookies, pastries, steak, and sometimes even fish. They also have an ice cream shop right at the front of the store (it was delish). When we went, they had steak, cheese, ham and cheese croissant, and cookie samples. My favorite was the Red Dragon cheese (w/mustard and ale). I havent been able to find it elsewhere. The ham and cheese croissant was so good that we bought 4 of them. I also got the clam chowder, and it was honestly one of the best soups I've ever had. we sat at the tables in the front to eat it, and it was so good we went back and got seconds. We checked out the deli too, where you can build your own sandwich or order from the hot food section. They had fried chicken, ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and more. I was talking with one of the ladies working there, i mentioned it was my first time visiting since i was just in town visiting family; she was so sweet and gave me, my niece, and my nephews a chicken tender EACH to try. super nice of her to do that. we ended up getting the potato wedges too, and they were so good we finished them before we even got home. I wish there was a Detwiler's in Virginia. I'd probably be there every week...

When visiting this area of Florida one thing that you should always eat is fresh seafood. Cortez,…read morethe town is known for fresh seafood. This restaurant was located down a small street by some boats near water and you just knew that whatever seafood you were getting was going to be the freshest, especially the grouper and the mahi-mahi. The seating is all outside and they have live music. You can easily tell that this is a local favorite because they were lots of tables of people that seemed to not have a care in the world and just enjoying life. Our server came over and quickly offered us water and gave us suggestions of what to order from the menu. I wound up having a grilled grouper sandwich which was delicious and so big that I couldn't even finish it. The other item we ordered was the blackened fish tacos with the truffle mashed potatoes. It was a little strange to see mashed potatoes on the menu, but man they were so yummy. The tacos were delicious as well. I wish they had beer on draft, but it was fine that they didn't. The cocktail menu also looked really good. I will say that based on the time of day we went there were some mosquitoes out but that's Florida and it's not the restaurant fault. This is definitely a restaurant. We will keep in mind when we are down here again.
