This excursion is a tourist trap. Read the fine print. They advertise as MINIMAL bioluminescence, we saw NONE. They put a giant tarp over your head to help, which is gross and regardless didn't help. Even if we did see bioluminescence we spent a total of 10 minutes in the bay. The rest of the tour was spent kayaking. This is a kayaking tour- for 70$ a person. The guides told us that we should go to the eye doctors to have our eyes checked. They were incredibly unhelpful and not knowledgeable about the area. When I asked about the wild life a guide told me he forgot the names of the fish. The owner will refuse you a refund based on their confirmation email stating that it may be minimal and they may use a tarp. It is not minimal - there is NONE. Look elsewhere for true bioluminescence or skip this and go to the rainforest which was awesome! read more

We left last night. Rain was the major player all day. Going kayaking and going to get wet. Let's do it! They said leave everything behind and we did. They held our keys for us. Some who took their camera never got a thing because you just can't see the beauty of the bio unless you have special lighting. We lucked out with the dark of the moon. The rain helped. As we paddled in the mangroves, we saw our paddles light up. The rain drops caused the water to ignite like fireflies. Pedro was one of our guides who gave the safety speech and kept us humans entertained. He filled us with knowledge if you wanted to listen. At the lagoon we sat under tarps and played in the darkness. Splash the water onto yourself and light up like Christmas. Many said the grand lagoon was not as bright as the past, but we had someone with us who experienced it in 2009. He said it was just as bright. You just never know the way it will react on a particular day. We were very lucky and very entertained. Other groups took so many that it seemed they were a mess. Our group max was 15 dual kayaks. Take your partner or they will assign you one. I'm from Missouri and you have to show me, and they did. I like the smaller group size. We will do it again and this is where we will go. This company seemed similar to the others that were leading large groups of Kayaks. The kayaks are two-person kayaks. You sit on top. Your legs do not go inside the kayak like a river kayak. These are wide kayaks and are stable. There was an easy registration process and a thirty minute wait for the guides to start their safety lesson and their kayaking instructions. We received a 5-10 minute lesson on how to go forward, turn, and reverse. There was no time on the water to actually have anyone practice before heading out into the pitch black darkness of the lagoon. If you have experience kayaking you will know what to do and you will have a good time. If you can go with someone that has experience you will have a good time. If you have never kayaked but have an adventurous spirit you will have a good time. If you are afraid of water, afraid of the dark, afraid of tipping over, afraid of being separated from your group until a guide finds you, if you are not in shape to row for an hour and a half, and if you and your kayak partner don't have good communication skills, then this adventure is not for you. There are dozens of kayaks attempting to go in a single file. You stay with your group by following your group color which in this case was a fluorescent green light stick on every kayak. Because of the varied abilities and the dark conditions, expect to get caught in the roots of the mandrake trees or to bump into a few kayakers. This can be fun or frustrating depending on your attitude going into these kinds of things. The bioluminescence is very beautiful and a rare opportunity to experience it. Although I did not see any fish in the water some of my group members did. It was interesting and enjoyable seeing the water light up whenever you moved your oar through the water. You can also see microorganisms light up in the water . This lagoon in Fajardo, PR is one of only 5 like it in the world. PR has three of the five. I paid $75 which included transportation from my hotel in old San Juan and a 90 minute drive. The kayaks were in very good shape, the life jackets were comfortable and in good clean shape, and the three guides that came with us were bilingual, knowledgeable, and friendly. They offered bottled water and snacks at the end. It's hot and humid so you may want to bring bug spray. read more

Somewhat of a cluster in the beginning, and in the end with boarding and diss boarding the kayaks in the dark with a bunch of kayak rookies. However, it was a lot of fun paddling down the 1 mile mangrove tunnel to get to the big internal Bay. The moon went behind a big, dark cloud Right after we arrived plus they put a tarp over us so you could really see the illumination quite well. Well worth the 60 bucks per person. read more

Horrible horrible experience. Paid $60 a person. Tour ran 30 minutes late. They took us to a bay, put a fish-smelling tarp over our heads, and asked us to "splash" the water. We then kayaked back in complete darkness and our tour guide couldn't be bothered to wait for the rest of the group so we had no idea where we were. Absolutely horrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This company is amazing. We kayaked a mile to the Lagoon, the water was easy and it didn't even feel like a mile. Once we got there they told us facts about the bioluminescent phytoplankton. They put a tarp over us because the moon was out and that's when we really got to see it. It was so bright and blue and when we splashed the water on eachother it twinkled and would light up. I highly recommend this as it is probably a once in a lifetime experience. And the staff is so kind and really made this an incredible experience. Pedro was so knowledgeable and you could really tell he absolutely loves his job. The staff made this already incredible experience even better. Afterwards, our truck was stuck in the mud and Pedro spent over 30 minutes helping us tow it out with his car. My family and me loved this experience and I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants to kayak to the biobay, the staff really went above and beyond with kindness. read more

This is a very professional and well-run tour company. There are lots of tours that will take you out to the bio-bay, but I'm glad that we signed up with Island Kayaking adventures! The tour starts off with a quick tutorial on how to kayak, what to expect during the trip, and most importantly - how to follow along with the tour guide and the group! Because this kayaking trip happens in the dark all crew members kayaks are marked with an orange light, and everyone on the tour is marked with a blue light. Without this we would have been totally lost! The actual tour is around an hour and a half. About a half an hour of kayaking through mangroves to get to the bay, half an hour in the bay and then the trip back. The bio bay is incredibly cool. So that you can experience it in the pitch black, our tour guide put a tarp over our kayaks. I wished that this would have lasted a little longer, but so many tour companies come through the bay that there isn't much time. Although checking out the light up bay is cool, the best part of the tour was kayaking at night below the stars. Bio bay or not, this is something that I'd suggest to anyone. When we got back on land they had water and snacks waiting for us which was a nice touch! We paid for a package that included the tour and transportation, but I believe for just the tour it's around 50 dollars per person. Definitely worth it for this unique adventure! read more

I have mixed feelings about this. My intention when I first booked this tour was to experience something unique and to learn more about this area of PR. With the assistance of my travel agent, I booked this tour and transportation package through a third party vendor and I didn't know the name of the actual tour company until we got to there. The pick-up from our hotel was easy enough. We were the first ones to get picked up and we spent an hour driving around town picking up other guests. Sigh, whatever. It took over 2 hours to get to the destination between the pick-up and actually driving there. Be sure to use the restroom before getting picked up as it will be a long ride and the restrooms at the destination is not pleasant. Once we arrived, we had some time to use the restrooms and change if we needed to. Bottled water and bug repellent spray is provided by the company. I highly suggest you bring your own spray as the public one gets used up very quickly. We had 3 tour guides that gave us a quick lesson in basic kayaking and teach about the science of biolumunicense and the natural surroundings. I am a newbie kayaker so the lesson was much appreciated. However, I still struggled greatly while in the water. I couldn't have been more grateful to my hubby for having kayaking experience and to pretty much save us on the water. I wish the guides were more helpful as I felt it was obvious there were a couple of parties other than ourselves that struggled. Once we got to the lagoon, it was truly magical. It was finally dark enough to mess around with the water to see the bio creatures light up and the night sky was clear and full of stars. It was truly breathtaking for me at that moment. We had to use the tarps to make it pitch black to see the bio creatures in the best way possible. It took about 45 minutes from the time we first got into the kayak to this point. The bio viewing only lasted about 10 minutes then we headed back into town, which was another 30 minutes. The way back was very difficult. By this time, it was near pitch black and the guides refused to provide light to help us navigate better. We did crash a few times because we just couldn't see and this was incredibly frustrating. It was on our way back into town that I realized that I shouldn't have book this particular tour. Kayaking is physically exerting and with me being a newbie, it wasn't the best route to take. I didn't even realize that motorized boat tours existed and was mentally kicking myself for not researching it more. Thankfully, the ride back to the hotel was much, much faster. I'm grateful for this experience but will re-do it with a different company. I felt for what we paid for we didn't get our money's worth. read more

First we got there and found their spot in a circle of about 6 kayaking tour businesses. There was a horrible stench, and it was so strong that we assumed it was the water, but once we put out life jackets it was clear that they hadn't been washed maybe ever. We got in the water and the tour guides were great, really friendly. The trek to the bay wasn't long, only about a mile. We didn't really see any wildlife. The bioluminescent bay was highly disappointing. It barely flows and only does when you really splash around a lot. That's not the company's fault though, as the bay is just not great due to light pollution. Overall, I don't think this was the worst company to go with if you want to see the bioluminescent bay, but it's really not worth the time and money to splash the water for a few minutes trying in vain to make it glow. read more

Pretty cool once we actually got to the thingy mabober where the water glows but the rest of it was boring and tiring. Especially the kayak back. Plus once we got there we had to wait for it to be dark and we only saw the glowing things for like 5 minutes. It was a fun adventure & sight to see, especially for the bioluminescence part. Our tour guide Pedro made sure we had fun & was well informed. He's an amazing tour guide & I recommend him for whoever goes down there. Do not waste your time. I have been to a fabulous bio bay and know what to expect. This was nothing but a money grab and the locals and guides could give 2 cares about protecting it- not that you can see anything unless you put a tarp over your head. Yes, they asked us to use a tarp. They allowed bug spray and motor boats are allowed in the bay. They are destroying this treasure and it's not wonder you can't see anything. Our guide admitted you don't see much unless it has rained. Then how about advising your customers? A surf guide wouldn't take my money when there are 0 waves. This was my first biobay kayaking trip (though I've kayaked lots), so I can't give this place 5 stars. What I CAN tell you is that the biobay is amazing at Fajardo. The company is organized, the guides are friendly and fun, and the experience was the best I had on my long weekend in PR. The only suggestion I have is, once you get into the bay, and a person is supposed to tell you about the plankton and why they light up, PLEASE make sure that person has a really loud voice. I could barely hear the woman/guide, and there were 3 kayaks behind MINE, so I knew they weren't hearing anything. As a matter of fact, they asked her to speak up twice, and the volume never seemed to change. Other than that, water and snacks at the end of paddling in the dark through mangrove trees to see plankton that light up? Sign me up AGAIN!!! The company seemed pretty nice at first. My complaints come in when we were literally out in the channel. The leader was way in the front and the rest of the group was lost somewhere in the back. Because of that it made many people in the front and middle stuck waiting around. They provide insect repellents for you to use for free. You officially pay when you check in. There's three tour staff that leads you into the channel. They take pictures of you when you get bought into the channel but since it's so dark when they snap your picture your eyes will close or you'll look like you are crossed eyed. the pictures are free of charge and will be uploaded on their facebook. They tried to give detailed instructions on how to kayak if you're a newbie. You're supposed to follow their kayak by trying to follow a small circle type of glow stick which is pretty close to impossible. Especially if there's like 15 kayaks, different tours going on, you're trying to avoid being hit , and being distracted by the stars and the fact that its pitch black! At the end of the tour they gave you a bottle of water and some chip brands I never heard of before. Online they give pretty detailed driving information. Overall, I can't compare them to Any other kayaking company but they were decent therefore, I'm giving them three stars. use the restroom prior to going out. but i'll warn you the public restroom is dirty, smelly, and lack of toilet paper so come prepared. oh and it has no sink for you to wash your hands. this company however offers hand santitizer. Bio bay was wonderful, this tour was just alright but for a party of 6 only making reservations 2 days prior I would say go for it because it's better to experience bio bay then to not. read more

These guys led a very good trek through the bioluminescent canal and bay near Fajardo. I found them through my hotel's travel guide. I had initial hesitations given the crappy website, little in the way of references, and my initial conversations with one of the guides over the phone (asked me for my credit card). I was able to book a trek for two on a day's notice (in mid-August). The canal and the bay are gorgeous, but I'll separate that from the actual company. We were able to find the tour group rather easily; the website featured super-helpful directions. We arrived about an hour early, and we were offered a slot on the earlier tour group without asking. Cool! The instruction was quick (kayaking isn't brain surgery), the tour guides effectively reigned in the twenty-plus sea-unworthy tourists, and after everything was over we all got free fruit and water. Score. Highly recommend this company. read more

I hate to give the experience 3-stars, but the guides "left us" trying to navigate through the mangrove trees in the pitch black night. They were behind us, but not using their headlamps. Our group ran into trees over and over again because we couldn't see the turns. As for the bay... it was amazing!! It's worth seeing even if you run into the trees getting there and back!! read more

We all heard about the Biobay and how impressive it could possibly get to long before we even visited PR, and I actually experienced a hard time making reservation for us...so before our trip, I put a extremely high expectation, hoping it could wow me - it did wow me, as we were literally kayaking there, towards the center of the lake, so much fun! In terms of Biobay itself, a bit disappointing since those illuminating bacteria seemed to be very dim (possibly due to the full moon today, more due to pollution) and very hard to capture the light. We all enjoyed ourselves, from other aspect though. When having another opportunity, I'd like to visit other island for a clearer view. read more

I'm not sure if we just got lucky with a good group or what, but our tour was very enjoyable. The only thing NOT enjoyable was passing groups from other tour companies in the mangrove tunnels that were losing it--yelling, fighting, freaking out, being wild. We took the late tour and there was no moon which made for prime viewing of the bioluminescence. Kayaking through the mangroves in complete darkness is a test of the senses, very exhilarating in itself. Then to experience the bay, it is really an experience of a lifetime. My five year old had a blast. Sat between myself and my husband and took it all in. We are experienced kayakers, which eased my nerves, but I believe I might have been on edge if I was totally green to kayaking. Even the rookies in our group did great though. ***Do beware--I believe we saw a caiman during our kayaking trip. We were second in a line of kayaks, only behind the guide. The guide turned his head and shined his light to the right and I saw a pair of beady eyes that looked just like a caiman. I questioned the guide about what we just saw (only he and I saw it) and he evaded my question. Obviously the truth may have caused panic. After the trip I researched it and PR is full of caiman. As I mentioned before, the other rowdy group had people fall off their kayaks into the water, so this does require caution. I would have skipped the tour, as I was kayaking with a five year old. During the briefing before you get in your kayak, they stress that there are "no alligators or snakes". I find that to be a little irresponsible, as there is the possibility. read more

We enjoyed the bio bay kayak night adventure. Our group was a mix of older individuals, chubbies, and young kids. And everyone had a wonderful time. The guides provided adequate instructions for beginning kayakers. The kayak were the sit down type. Since I have prior kayak experience and sorta in shape (a circle is a shape), it wasn't difficult. And even for the novices, crashing into the mangrove trees is half the fun. The water was warm and shallow in the mangroves. And I didn't get bitten by a single bug (the guides provided mosquito spray). They took us out in the middle of a lake and taught us about the organisms that lived in the water. Since we picked a day with very little moonlight, the organisms were much more vibrant in the color. On the way out, my eyes got accustomed the light and it was a spectacular view of the stars. Some of the chubbies had trouble getting out and the guides towed them. In my opinion, If this is the 2nd or 3rd best bio bay in Puerto Rico then the other ones must be beyond belief because this one is amazing. A definite must see attraction. I will do this again the next time I'm in Puerto Rico. Recommendations: 1. This is a Puerto Rico must see! Plan your trip based on the lunar calendar. The best nights are the ones right before the new moon when it is the darkest. 2. Book early and choose the late session if possible. If this company is not available, there are others. 3. Eat something light before you go out. It is a mild workout. 4. Wear swimwear, long sleeve or windbreak, and sandals with straps (I wouldn't recommend flip flops but it is possible) is best. Apply mosquito repellant generously. 5. Plan to get abit wet so leave a towel and a change of clothes in the car. A snack wouldn't be a bad idea. 6. Stop by one of the local vendor afterwards for some rum or beer. A nice way to end a great evening. read more

Our tour guides were very nice and knowledgable. They took pictures for us and posted them somewhere on their website for us. They gave good instructions in the beginning and provided snacks and drinks at the end. I wish that the area where we launched from had more bathroom and food options, but I don't think that's under the control of this company. The adventure was really great and I've been waiting to do it for years. The instructors were willing to tell us more about the luminescening plankton. read more

My party of 7 (4 adults, 3 kids) went on the bio bay tour with island Kayaking Adventures - along with about 30 others. The bay itself was awesome, the boats were fine but the tour guys were just OK. They did their job of lining us up and escorting our rather large group to the bay and back -- but that's it. I saw other groups who were all laughing and interacting with their guides. Because we had an odd number in our group and the kayaks hold 2, my 10 year-old son was asked to go with a guide. I thought it's be a great opportunity for him - and he was happy to go as he's fairly outgoing and adventurous. In the entire trip the tour guide never uttered one word to him. Summary - the Bio bay is exceptional, yet this tour group is just OK. read more

I had a jolly good time kayaking in the dark for biobay in Fajardo. At first, I was rather nervous when I saw that we had a group of about 30 people. However, they managed to make it work. And not many people knew what they were doing (including myself). It was very chaotic at times, but overall, I had a great time and think the guides did a good job. read more

This tour was completely unorganized. There was no training or safety talk before we left. This is not for kids or for those who are not in moderately good physical condition. The entire tour was stressful and frustrating for everyone involved. Our exasperating journey began with us signing our life away and waiting around undirected until we figured out where to go. We queued up in line on a boat ramp with stray dogs everywhere and being stared at by the unfriendly guides. Our group had mixed kayaking experience and we were expecting a brief Kayaking 101, as discussed in our purchase and written on their website. The guides offered absolutely zero kayaking training, safety precautions, or guidance on what to expect on this tour. The guides all seemed annoyed by our presence and could clearly be seen scoffing and rolling their eyes at inexperienced participants loading into their kayaks. We precariously loaded into the kayaks and were told to cross the cove. The kayaks appeared to be aged and and needed maintenance. Several of our group's kayaks had broken seats and offered no back support. The cove was filled with anchored boats and other tours going out at the same time. Many of the people on our tour were lost immediately and did not know which way to go, while others inadvertently followed other tour groups with similar blue glow sticks as ours. It was chaos from the start. If you decide to take any tour to the bio bay, be aware that you will be paddling for nearly 45min, from the shore to the lagoon regardless of your kayaking ability. On your way to the lagoon the guides will "vanish", literally, therefore you will be on your own. Most of the journey through the canal was spent floating blindly into branches or getting jammed up by other folks that had turned sideways. There is rarely a guide available to help. When they do offer help, you are told to get out of the way of other tours and boats and to keep moving. Your paddle through the canal to the bay is in complete darkness. I brought a head lamp which saved us and others several times. The whole way you will be surrounded by inexperienced kayakers coming from both sides, and a few electrical boats; all these, in a very narrow canal. You'll also find invisible Mangroves that will hit you in the head and body, and are very hard to see in the almost 0 visibility. Several times I used my headlamp to help people get untangled from the branches and other kayaks. The guides kept asking me to turn off my headlamp, which I would, and then have to turn back on at the next kayak pile up. After 45 minutes of paddling hell, you'll finally make it to the lagoon. Once reunited with your group, the guides will give you a very brief explanation about what causes the bio-luminescence. To everyone's disappointment you will stay in the bio bay for about 10 minutes. You then have to start paddling back to the shore for another 45 min, with the same obstacles as before but this time much more frustrated and tired. Overall, it was a very stressful and disappointing experience. We planned this excursion on a new moon, so the bio-luminescence was awesome. The actual experience with the bio-luminescence was worth the drudgery, but I would absolutely not recommend "Island Kayaking Adventure". Their staff was unprofessional and the tour was dangerous and unorganized. We did hear and see other tours that had fun team names, better identification of their kayaks, and guides that seemed friendly and encouraging. We would recommend you take an electric boat or in the very least use another kayaking tour company with more concern for safety and professionalism. read more

There are not enough good things I can say about this company. My mother and I (61yr old and 25 yr old) were so looking forward to seeing the bio bay. Unfortunately, someone at our car rental had informed us that the trip over to the meeting location would take only 45 minutes, when it actually took much longer. I called the company when I was running late, and they did everything possible to accommodate us. The trips take multiple guides, so for us, they kept one of those guides behind while the rest of the team started on time. In addition to that, we got lost times on our way there, and the company manager talked us through our confusion on the phone multiple times. When we finally got there late, the guide they left behind took us out on his own, and helped us catch up to the troop. While I DO NOT recommend showing up late, it places a major stress on yourself and the team and cuts back on the time you can spend in the bio bay, I could not believe the extreme efforts this company went through to get us on this trip. We had so much fun. The experience is incomparable to others, and our tour guide, Armando, was personable, attentive, and conversational. Honestly, this is a natural wonder that you can not miss. I will say, this trip could be frustrating if you don't have any kayaking experience (do not need expert skill, my mother and I are far from experts, it's just helpful if you've gone once or twice before.) The canal is dark, very dark (at least for the 8pm tour), but that's part of the appeal. You can start seeing the bioluminescence about 10 minutes into the trip, which without the darkness would not be possible. You will run into a branch or two, and you will play bumper cars w a kayak Infront of you. But who cares!? You're in the wild, experiencing a natural wonder! Additionally, the tour guides will inform you about the science behind the bioluminescent plankton, and they will shine lights into the trees during your trip, looking for other wildlife like iguanas, birds, and snakes. To summarize, I would not recommend this trip to someone who is uncomfortable with new environments. You will be kayaking with a group, around trees and branches, in a very dark canal. But, If you want to see one of the most amazing views in nature, guided by an amazing team with fun and personable guides... Then you HAVE TO TRY THIS! I can not say anything bad about my experience. I will always remember this trip. (But if you're leaving from San Juan on a Saturday, give yourself at least 1 hr 15 min to get there :) and book ahead of time, both the tour and transportation.) read more

First thing anyone should know about the bio bay, it doesn't look like the brochures. Even our bus driver said they photoshopped them. All the tours do it. My husband and I went together but the group was LARGE, too large. About 15-20 kayaks. Mostly from what seemed to be a school group which meant rowdy teenagers. There was also a mom and her 3 kids. FYI, you need to plan on physical exertion. She was not in shape and had to be towed out by a guide. Her boys were crashing into everyone. Our guides were hardly seen, except for the guy at the front towing that woman. They didn't control the group at all. Check point stops took forever and were a disorganized mess of paddles swinging and people pushing into trees. The part that really pissed me off is a guy literally pushed his boat into us so he could get to the boat ramp first and dumped us into the water. No one gave way to us swimming and the guides were no where to be found. The people unloading boaters didn't even ask us why we looked like drowned rats walking out of the water. If you do the bio bay, don't use this company. All the other groups were smaller. Their guides seemed to talk more and be throughout their groups. If this is a treasure of Puerto Rico, it needs to be better cared for on land and in the canal. No power boats would be a great start! read more

Two stars is because we did the night bio bay kayak trip. The bay does NOT glow!!! Don't be fooled. It looks at most like someone put glitter in the water. The blue you see in the ads and videos is false advertisement and isn't real. They put us under a tarp and I still didn't see shit. This was what I was looking forward to the most my PR trip and it was the biggest let down. Save your money and go on the east island adventure snorkeling trip. They give you lunch and rum drinks and you actually see coral and fish. This kayak trip is a joke and they shouldn't be allowed to advertise like this anymore. It should be called GLITTER BAY at best. The kayaking in the dark it's self was fun and everyone was all over the place. The guides were helpful but you could tell were short tempered. 0 stars go to the stuff I expected to see. 2 go to the fun kayaking in the dark and the couple shooting stars we saw once back in the ocean that were amazing. It wasn't full or even big moon this bay just doesn't do what they say it does anymore. Save your money. read more

I have kayaked many places and in many different conditions. Never before in the dark, which was pretty cool, and never before in bioluminescent water, which was also pretty cool. Not cool was the excessive waiting, the very short time in the water relative to what we were promised, the less than 5 minutes that we spent in the actual lagoon with very little explanation as to what was going on, and the crowded tour. It may have been a language issue (many people on our tour spoke neither Spanish nor English well) and may have been the lack of practice/really short explanation of how to kayak, but we spent lots of time fending off attacks from the boats behind and next to us. We also massively overpaid because we were dumb enough to book through a tour company at the hotel, so what would have cost us $65 through this company was actually $85 through "Castillo Tours" the BS company at our hotel. Not worth the $85 and probably not worth the $65 either. If I did not know how to kayak (and the 5 second lesson at the beginning would not have taught me anything), I think that I would have been scared that I would tip or get stuck somewhere. While there were 2 guides (one at the back and one at the front- and one of them was smoking which is just nasty), there were 23 or so kayaks with 2 people in each and there is no way that they could keep track of people in the dark. Driver was not friendly at all nor were many of the workers. I would recommend skipping this. read more

This was our first time kayaking the bio bay. We have kayaked multiple times in other places in the past but not in a big group like this. The company picked us up from San Juan and transported us to Fajardo which was a plus! The driver was great. She was really personable and got us back on time. Once you get to the destination you have a few minutes before starting the tour. They do give you bug spray which was absolutely necessary. You can also stop by the bathroom or buy a pina colada before starting the tour. The bathrooms have no toilet paper, so be sure to bring some of your own! They also post a pict of you and your kayak partner after the trip on their facebook page which was nice. The only bad part of the tour were the guides. They were condescending towards anyone that seemed less proficient with the kayaks. Just seemed like they were so over dealing with anyone that had any difficulty kayaking- and there was a big group with us that seemed to have little to no experience, which made the condescending comments seem that much more frequent. There were all these great things about the company that I wanted to give them more stars but the tour guides totally soured the experience. The bio bay was just awesome! I would def go back to the bay but I would try a different company next time. read more

We were in San Juan for a week and wanted to experience different things that Puerto Rico had to offer. We signed up with the tour booking agent at the hotel we stayed. The van pick up was very punctual. Only concern was a woman on our tour who was so drunk she couldn't speak without slurring and REEKED of alcohol. Luckily she wasn't in our kayak! It was a little disorganized when we got there; not sure where to go or where to wait. Eventually we were all directed to the correct area where we waited for the earlier tour to come back. Once safely seated in the kayaks (with life jackets on & a brief kayak instruction lesson) we paddled to the middle of the harbor. From there we were to go single file up a narrow canal. It was pitch black and the canal had vegetation overgrowth that blocked out ALL light. The only guide you had was the blinking kayak in front of you. After running into a few trees we made it to the bay. As we were nearing it, you noticed that the paddles looked like they had lights on them when you put them in the water. When we paddled to the middle of the bay our guide explained the reason this was happening and that anything that moved would light up. We saw streaks of green under the water where fish were swimming! As we paddled we could watch fish streak thru the water, leap over our kayak, and dart the other way! Putting our hand in, it looked like pixie dust was coming off our fingers. It was truly magical. That's the best word to describe it...magical. The hardest part was paddling back to the launch site; it was against the current. But well worth it. I highly recommend this tour. No worries if you happen to tip over. Our guide told us that the bay was only about 3 feet deep. Just to test him I put the paddle in length wise. It touched the bottom, so he was right! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And remember o bring bug spray! read more

I have to be honest, while the bio bay was nice it was an underwhelming experience. The kayak guides were amazing, but the lady that drove us there was awful. Her driving was erratic and unsafe and she was extremely rude. We kayaked in the pitch black to be put under a tarp for a few minutes. Like I said, the guides were awesome and informative, but I would never pay 95 dollars to do this again, not worth it read more
