One of my favorite things I did so far on my Solo trip to Puerto Rico! This will also be my first review, took me a while to start this because I had a long list to do so. Now as a person who doesn't know how to swim & never kayaking before. Especially at night by herself was a nightmare! If I knew I would have to go by myself I wouldn't have go through it because it's just not safe . I had never even paddled a boat before. Didn't like the fact just because I didn't have a partner I have to go by myself! I asked multiple times & the girl keep saying : that's why you gonna go alone! Imagine the pressure I was in & felt like I committed a sin by being alone ! I ended up asking,, actually begging other people if anyone wants to come with me . Everyone said no; finally one kid who said he will be happy to come with me. The way he guided me & made me feel comfortable! I wouldn't been able to do anything if he wasn't with me to guide me! I would have definitely freaked out in the middle of nowhere ! Because ot of him I ended up having fun. They gave us paint & I also ended up painting my face lol. It was great , just giving you all a heads up so you know how this works. It's definitely fun tho I would not lie..!

Book Now: LED Night Kayak Experience in Puerto Rico with Night Kayak!! First time trying night kayaking and absolutely loved it. Booked online and once we got there the tour guides were super friendly and helpful and explained the whole process. Highlights of my experience was : Calm waters of the lagoon. Beautiful views of Condado. Best Kayak tour guides . Wonderful memories. Amazing service. 10/10 I would recommend this. Don't miss out.

Shout out to John and Miguel! Thanks so much for your professionalism, your entertainment, your good energy, and your service. We had so much fun! Can't wait to do this again! We appreciate you guys

It was a fun excursion. We saw starfish and other creatures in the water. I highly recommend. They start off with a quick how-to and then you hit the water. I felt like it was a good amount of time in the kayak. The guide took time to take pic of every group and then they airdrop at the end. Make sure you don't leave before getting your pictures. Also a cute dog working there. 5 stars to the dog for cuteness. I took my 9 year old and she had a great time. I've already recommended this to friends.

Best / fun activity to do by yourself, friends or family !! Jann and JC gave us a slight walkthrough of Puerto Rico history, friendly staff ensuring quality service, and time. Photos included + glow in the dark paint, life vest, Definitely a must do in Puerto Rico!!

If you want to add adventure to your night. Look no further this is the place. Their clear kayaks and neon lights. Cool glow in the dark face paint and glow necklace that looks great in photos (FREE)! Along with their tour guide with the great humor pairs well for an festive activity. Super easy and fun. They make sure you're super safe with a guide in the front and back of the group. Also did I mention the free photos! Along with their exclusive highly recommended places to eat and visit list airdropped to your phone. My Buddy and I went kayaking at night and it started to rain and we were blessed with some ponchos. That I still use today. ENJOY YOUR TIME AND BOOK WITH THIS COOL GROUP OF FOLKS!

Yes yes yes!!! This was such a fun experience. From the glow paint to the kayaking to learning the history of the fish and city it was amazing. You definitely have to be in sync with each other. I wasn't playing bc I can't swim. Life vest or not lol. They take pictures of you and allow you to take pictures yourself. The bottom of the boat is clear but probably more clear during the day. It was a bit foggy on the bottom when we went but once we got closer to coral and other fish we were able to see them. Even those that have an luminescent glow. Worth the money!!

I had an amazing experience while trying this place out. Came with 3 friends, they let Us know what time to come back (gotta be they at least 30 minutes prior). Shelly and luis were guides and did amazing. Shelly is really sweet and also has great ideas for shirts from this place!! She shared a few we would definitely buy! They hold your purse for you if you don't want your things to get wet, which is really helpful!! It poured on us while we were kayaking and made our experience that much better! Over all a great adventure and a must try if your near the area and checking out Puerto Rico!

Such a fun idea when looking for an activity to do with friends, family, or even as a couple. The day we went it was raining and we began once the rain eased up. Despite the rain we had a great experience and enjoyed our time.

Mike and Christian Rocked! We had so much fun. This was most of our first time kayaking, instructions on had to paddle were explained thoroughly. We went as a group of 13. They handle large groups well! As we paddled around the lagoon the guide explained how historic this lagoon is. We wasn't rushed at all, it was smooth. Unfortunately I didn't want to know how deep the water really was. If you're scared or don't know how to swim don't let this fear stop you from this experience.. you'll be safe in the kayak, we rocked a lot never did we tip over. Life jackets are given at the beginning, they might not help you swim but you'll float till someone get you. No need to panic just enjoy you some kayaking.. lastly, we went at 8:30pm I enjoyed the night view for sure. All the buildings are lit up, you'll get some great pictures. Thanks Mike and Christian for being great host and tour guides. This experience was a great one!

    Lots of fun!

We had a great time with luis and mike as we traversed the mangroves, watch iguanas sunbathing, checked out Sunstars (not starfish!), and even a manatee mama and her calf! An hour of super fun. Low impact fitness level. Lovely!

If they think 2 mins of telling you how to row, kneel, and stand than I guess they might as well deduct $10 for that. And just rent out paddle boards lol. 2- I'm a very strong swimmer and found it very hard to maneuver against the wind/current. 3-Things they've failed to mention do not stand if your paddling against the waves. You will flip over. You will go in and basically teach yourself and if you have common sense then you will come out of it learning and teaching yourself how to paddle board. We called ahead to reserve five paddleboards for an hour ($20/person), and were greeted immediately upon arrival. They were very accommodating even though we were a little late. There was even a place to store our wallets and backpacks despite the whole thing being outdoors. After paying with our credit cards (also a plus, since most places in San Juan only take cash), we were given a quick crash course on how to paddleboard as the others in my group had never been before and sent out into the water. The lagoon was pretty calm -- no waves or strong current, so it wasn't too hard to paddle. The best part for me was definitely the manatee that we found swimming the middle of the lagoon. Overall, wonderful experience.

We chose to do the El Yunque/BioBay combo tour. First you're picked up directly from the hotel around 9:30 am. They come straight to the lobby. You will be in a rather small shuttle and depending on how large your group is it may get cramped and stuffy in the shuttle vehicle. Lucky for me we had a great group that was a lot of fun. We really bonded in such a short period of time. First stop is El Yunque national rainforest. On the drive to the rainforest you watch a film that previews some of what you will be seeing in person and gives some historical info. Cruz brought us up to the very highest part of the rainforest so that we could hike mostly downward which is a hell of a lot easier and less strenuous. I recommend water shoes for the hike. You will stop at a waterfall and get a chance to swim around which was definitely the highlight of the day! After you leave El Yunque you stop at a strip mall of authentic Puerto Rican food stands. You eat (own expense) for about an hour and then go to a really nice beach for another hour and a half. After that you will be driven to the marina where you will start your kayaking. At this point the BioBay is run by a separate company. So I can't really include them in this review. All I will say is that the BioBay is not what you think it is if you have ever googled pictures of it. That's definitely not what you will be seeing on this tour. After you return from kayaking your original tour guide drops you back off at your hotel. All in all it's an exhaustive 12 hour day but it is an amazing experience and well worth the money!

WITHOUT A PADDLE…read more Kayaking during the day proving too easy?  How about kayaking at night...through a mangrove forest. As my wife and I planned our second trip to Puerto Rico, we agreed that a bio bay kayak tour should be on the list.  Only 5 biobays exist in the world, 3 of which are in PR (in Vieques, La Parguera, and here on the far northeast corner of the island).  There's a few kayaking tour companies in the area, each offering a similar bioluminescent excursion. Hang on, biolu-what?  I'll skip the TED talk--all you need to know is that a certain kind of marine plankton makes the water in extra salty lagoons glow blue.  It's the same science that gives jellyfish, fireflies, and deep-sea anglerfish their special ability to produce light. When we arrived around 8pm, tour guides gave our group of 15-20 life vests and provided instructions, like what to do if your ass falls out of the kayak.  Our goal was Laguna Grande (literally "big lagoon"), roughly 1 mile from our starting point on the shores of Fajardo. So......getting to Laguna Grande is not easy.  Along with a partner, you'll paddle your way through a narrow channel surrounded on all sides by thick mangroves, including an overhead canopy.  This is tricky during daylight hours, but at night the difficulty ramps up.  Keep in mind that visibility in these thick mangrove patches drops to near-zero at times. You might (probably will) have to avoid other kayak groups and (possibly) motorboats as you make your way to the lagoon, all while trying not to crash into the person in front of you, fall too far behind, or be knocked unconscious/impaled by low branches.  The outbound trip was not super chill, thankfully coming back was less stressful. Having an experienced partner is CRUCIAL. Bio bay tours are very much like whale watching, in that your visit is based almost entirely on luck.  A lot needs to go right in order to see magic stuff in the water, like the moon being in its 'new' phase (full moon casts too bright of a reflection) and no recent rainfall (rain comes down as fresh water, decreasing the lagoon's salinity). Under ideal circumstances, the microorganisms appear as florescent blue swirls when you move your hand/paddle through the water.  What we saw were closer to electrical 'sparks', still cool but not vibrant.  Capturing what little bio-presence we saw on camera would've been impossible, so we smartly kept our phones in the car. Oddly enough, mosquitos weren't a problem. * TL;DR * For me, this was more about the journey than the destination. If I'd hung all of my hopes on seeing tons of bioluminescent activity, I would've been disappointed.  I was focused more on trying not to capsize while also listening to the symphony of 'coqui' (the local island tree frog). It can be romantic with a spouse/partner, assuming they're not yelling at you the whole time. Wear comfy clothes (swim trunks aren't a bad idea) and be aware that parts of your outfit will be crunchy the next day, due to the lagoon water being twice as salty as the ocean. Mangroves play a critical role in the tropical ecosystem, but they stink! Would definitely recommend this to anyone over the age of 18; it's an awesome late-night adventure and one of the most unique things you can do while in Puerto Rico.

I recommend wearing water shoes as you'll have to walk through thigh deep water to get to the kayak. You want to plan your trip as close to a new moon as possible as you want to eliminate as much light as possible to really see the glow. Annoyingly there is a neighborhood above the lagoon with bright spotlights but facing the water way and lingering near the other side of the lagoon the bioluminescence is still very visible and a total blast. The guides even brought us a tiny jellyfish to observe and see how it glowed as it wiggled in our hands. I wouldn't even bother bringing your phone, I highly doubt you'd be able to capture the glow while holding still enough in a kayak. Navigating the mangroves was tricky because the guides blue lights were just bright enough the destroy our night vision and not see the low hanging branches. I would hope in the future that the guides would switch to red lights to make navigating in the low light easier.

He kept yelling at us over and over to follow him as he was dead stopped in the water and he was flush with the group. We went back and forth between being told to speed up or slow down and spent a lot of time just floating rather than kayaking. We were unable to see him at all and all of the yelling was very stressful, I wish we could have just had a dim light to follow like other tours offer. We were supposed to kayak for an hour according to the description but were out of the water by 8:30 and didn't even enter the water until after 7:50. And before you ask, no one was late so we didn't start late. We spent more time rafted together talking about the stars and the constellations than we did enjoying the dinoflagellates. For reference, I have been coming to mosquito bay every few years for nearly 25 years. I have never felt more rushed like cattle and unable to appreciate the beauty of the bay. Additionally we overheard the guides talking about various members of the group behind their backs afterwards. I speak Spanish and heard it all-- never appropriate to do this in front of customers no matter the situation. One other guest within earshot heard them saying the things above and commented to me about it as she could also understand them. Also overheard one joking with another about how they're essentially here for the money grab. Unfortunately I think that his phrase is the best way to sum up the vibes of our tour. Adding a star because the bay is amazing. Even though it's not as bright after Maria it's still such an amazing piece of nature.

It's an easy way to spend a day in the sun without breaking the bank. The only hiccup was during check-in. No safety rundown, no directions, nothing. I ended up going back inside, and thankfully another staff member stepped in and got me set up properly. Once I was out in the water, though, it was beautiful -- calm, clear, and full of marine life. Overall, a great experience with just a small bump in the beginning. I'd definitely return.

They ask that you arrive about 15 minutes early, and when we got there, most of the staff greeted us inside the storefront before directing us out back to the kayaking area. For belongings, they give you two options: you can pay $5 for a locker with a key, or you can leave your things in the storage bins out back where someone is always present. I wasn't completely comfortable with the bins, but the staff reassured me that nothing had ever happened to guests' belongings. I decided to take the chance, left my bag there with cash inside, and thankfully, everything was safe and untouched when we returned. Our instructor was Kyler and he was amazing. He was patient, informative, and honestly did most of the work steering our kayak since my daughter kept getting frustrated and turning us in the wrong direction. Kyler shared a lot of history about the Condado Lagoon, pointing out landmarks, statues, and explaining the local marine life--what's there, what isn't, and why motorboats aren't allowed. The way back was more challenging because of the wind, so this time it was up to us to paddle. I ended up doing most of it (patting myself on the back here), and by the time we finished, I was completely soaked from the back--no idea how that happened, but it was all part of the adventure. We wrapped up after about an hour, grabbed our belongings, and everything was still there. Overall, it was such a fun and memorable experience for both my daughter and I.
