No aloha. I cannot believe how many positive reviews are listed here. I spoke with their office manager or scheduler Lorene who provided amazingly bad customer service. She had bite and kept talking over me every time I tried to say or explain something, and she did that during every conversation. She put me on their schedule, but then forgot and said she didn't have me on their schedule. I told her we had it scheduled and I drove all the way across the island to meet them only for her to tell me "oh yeah I remember" but they still wouldn't be able to make it because of other jobs taking priority and running late, and if I wanted to schedule an exact time in the future or have them come by later that day, it would cost me extra for the service call. She literally couldn't have cared less and made everything sound like it was a huge inconvenience. THE.WORST. read more

Extremely unprofessional, and very rude lock-maker. He wrongly made the key we needed, broke the ignition in the process with his messed up key and demanded us to pay full price for not only his broken key but also "his time." After finding a spare randomly stored away he was adamant to continue trying the key he's made, triggered a close out mechanism in the ignition and ceased the car from starting. Glenn and Lorene are the best! They helped me get my car out of Wahikuli after the Lahaina wildfire destroyed my neighborhood (& town) somehow leaving my car untouched. They opened my locked car, made me a key, and programmed it on the spot in the impact zone. They wouldn't take any money from me and told me they just wanted to help those affected by the fires. I later found out they also lost their business and home. What incredible people helping our community when they too lost so much. They came to our rescue in 10 minutes and on a weekend after my daughter licked all of our sets of keys in the car.

I needed a fob and key for my Jeep Cherokee, they quoted a price for generic fob, Glenn found out that fob would not work for my Jeep, he acquired manufactures replacement which was about double the cost. Island Lock & Smith was extremely willing to help us out today since my wife decided to lock our rental keys in the car while snorkeling.... They promised to get to our car in 30-40 minutes and it took about 35 for them to get there. While waiting I decided to try my luck at getting the door open and was successful at 36 minutes just as the guy showed up! I went inside to get a copy of a key made. Mind you I brought my own blank key for the original key to be copied onto. The lady inside the store then proceeded to tell me that it would be 35$ if her key copying machine worked or didn't work! I then told her that that doesn't sound fair at all. I lost my keys on the beach in kaanapali at 5pm on a friday and all other companies made excuses like there's too much traffic and it's too late in the day. Island lock is in lahaina (by the way all the other locksmiths said there is no locksmith in lahaina) and came over as soon as they were done with the job they were on. Wow! This company is amazing! They were so nice and helpful starting with our phone call with needing a locksmith to come out and get the broken key out of our ignition from somebody trying to steal our car. They kept in contact with us and let us know they would be out the next day in the morning. That morning, they let us know again approximately what time. Then Ray called to let us know the time he will be exactly at our place. And he was exactly at our place at that time. He made sure that our car was not only taken care of, but safe. Saved my vacation. pulled the stupid tourist trick of locking the rental keys in the trunk on the last day of vacation and no amount of tugging, pleading or allout cursing was gonna get the damn keys out. When I came back from California, I could not unlock my minivan door. I repeated more than 10 times. After I failed, I found Island Lock & Safe in Internet who had 4.5 starts. WHEN I called them, the response was great. The answer was, "A technician will call me in 30 minutes. Yes, he did in 30 minutes. When he came to my place, he had the magic hand. He unlocked the door within 30 seconds. Per him, the lock mechanism does not have the smooth movement since the car is 12 years old and the key did wear-out. Had a terrible experience with this company. I was quoted two prices for keys. One for a chip key, and the other for a non chip key. I ended up having a chip key, but they charged me $40 more than the quoted chip key price. The key no longer works (faulted chip). I called back and the locksmith refused to even look at the key unless I gave him $100. I cannot drive my car again, as they refuse to correct the key as a courtesy due to defect. He spoke very poorly to me on the phone when I objected. The company has very poor ethics and customer service. read more
