Do not pay at the pump. They will pull money from your card, but will not allow you to pump gas. It will keep telling you to remove your card and then reinsert it. Just a frustrating loop which caused $125 hold charge to be put on my bank account that lasted 2weeks. The clerk said they're aware of the problem, but say it's hard to get a fix considering their location. I personally think that's BS. read more

I was purchasing $40 worth of groceries, but was charged $400. they said their main card reader was not working, so a secondary method was used and the clerk made a typo. I was immediately charged An additional $360!!!! the resolution presented was to come back 2 days later to talk to the manager to get a refund. WTF??? Lesson learned! I live very close to Island market and it has very easy access to get things! The food contains every day needs and Cooper's chicken and pizza. The service is nice and good helps you find important things. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed! read more

I have lived in the steamboat island rd area for over 30 years and it is so sad to see our only small grocery store decline. For the past 3+ years the inventory has been horrible, either expired or none existent. It was so great when there was a full service post office and Pam, but now the full service does not exist, only drop off. You used to be able to pick up a lemon or lime or vegetable when that was all you needed, but now gone. Could not even go in there today and grab a can of tomatoes, empty shelves, and if yougrab a can, you have to check the expiration date because they don't. I am done with even trying. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time just head straight into town. read more

Parking lot not as full as it used to be. Definitely a new vibe at Island Market. I have switched to the gas station right next Island Market. I talked to the counter guy at the other gas station about what was going on with Island Market. He said that he hears it all week long that the workers are rude. I was there at 10 minutes to 11:am on a Saturday...nobody in the parking lot. I have gone there for 30 years, and it was always quite busy. Store workers are rude, and I am done with the place. But I did go in and ask them if they had read their reviews on the internet. I was told no...by someone at the counter. It is a community store and you do not want to lose the community. Island Market has new owners for a few months now. I like that they're replacing the floors; I like that they now offer pre-made chicken and Jojo products so workers in the area and travelers can get something warm to eat; they still offer fresh pizza. I don't like that the personal mail box fee was raised by $10/mo - now $30/mo. I don't like that they have changed from cardboard pizza boxes to styrofoam; I don't like that they no longer have large paper bags but use plastic instead. They do have paper bags for small purchases. read more

Maybe it's because this place holds so much nostalgia for me since I used to come here all the time growing up. I remember when it used to be called O'Sullivans, then Debucci I think, & how the Island Market name that it has today. They have a great assortment of snacks, candy, food, etc. I used to rent movies here all the time back in the day. All the employees have always been friendly. Never had a bad experience here. I cannot believe the service my husband had today with my daughter. He was refused service due to not wearing a mask without even finding out if there was a reason for it. The employees were cussing at him in front of my 14 year old daughter, calling him and asshole telling him to get the fuck out of their store! I have shopped here since I was a kid, as I recall it was Pat's Prairie Market, when we would drive from afar to go to our rural property here. Now I have lived here for almost twenty years, and have never, ever had a complaint about Island Market. AND they have accommodated my health concerns 100% since the pandemic, bringing my mail and packages out to my car for over a year now so I didn't have to go inside. Would get 5 stars but only a few of the employees are welcoming or nice. A girl named Katie is always friendly. A girl with short short hair is not. Not even a little. Stopped in on March 28th after a great show at Performing Arts Center. Unfortunately the rudest of the rude was working the closing. We quickly chose our two items and my husband put them in the middle of the counter where the clerk was standing. Evidently he did not put the goods close enough to J, so she said to him "uh, could you put that over here" meaning closer to her registar. "Oh, I said, was that not close enough for you"? "Yeah it's annoying when people do that all day long she said". Really? I thought to myself. So on top of your ever rude demeanor, no hello, no pleasantry and NEVER a thank you, now we are admonished for where we place our purchases at the registar??????? Upper management must suck in this store. It always shows in the employees. Sure wish the other store sold organic milk. Sure wish the employees in the other store would teach these people how to treat the paying pubic. read more

I have been coming to this store for over 25 years. We have a place in Carlyon Beach and this is always a stop for goodies before going down the 9 mile road. They have everything from fresh produce to a small frozen foods section. The hot and ready pizza is a favorite with the kids and the fresh coffee is as good as it gets. Plus, if you put any amount of gas in your car, you get a free cup of Jo. How awesome is that?! Also, look for the crab guy selling fresh seafood in the parking lot. He comes on the weekends sometimes...yummy, fresh crab and clams. read more

My name is Suzanne and I moved to Steamboat a few years back, and try to shop here instead of Safeway for my short trips and etc. to help out local businesses. I hate to give this store such a bad review, but this is not because of the store itself. It is due to one employee specifically. I know her name, but I don't want to put it out because I care about the employees future employment. Starts with a K or C. Had hair pulled back in a pony, was darker in color. Anywho, this employee is always soo rude!!!!! I can't believe she still has a job there!!!!!! The way she talked to me, and the customer in front like we had no business there. The cutoff for me was one time a few weeks ago when I was shopping and she passed by me in the front area, and smelt of some smoke of the umm....ya that kind. Husband uses for sleep so I know the nature. Must of came in from a break of some sort but I watched her go behind the counter like nothing, really???? I created a Yelp account so I could hopefully get to the manager here, which I am guessing is the elderly man in the morning I have got my gas from. Defintely not trying to get this business in any trouble, but because of how rude I felt this employee was to me, I dont feel comfortable calling talking to any employees to leave a message, or letting the man in the morning know if he is the manager because other employees could here me noting my complaint. I need to know my privacy is kept 100% when I live so locally and do not have much options for shopping since Covid-19. How unsafe of this employee. The owner must not know, because I called to return an item once and they understood no problem. I have no doubt the manager is doing what they need to do. Very clean store, and always very well stocked. I am extremely disappointed in people like this letting a great business down. Almost every other employee has given me great service. Even tried a slice of pizza my step son brought home, and would say is excellent. Only thing I could add is wish this store had better employees otherwise than. I wont quit shopping here though, great store. The elderly man in the morning is very polite, and had another woman wait on me early one Sunday, short hair, she was very polite as well. Island Market is a great store. It has almost anything you could want, which saves you a trip into town. The staff is always friendly, and helpful. Prices are decent as well, if not cheaper with some things. This store even has things like fire wood, fresh meat, laundry soap, toothpaste, and a mail drop box for letters and such.
